Its 45 years later and just as awsome as it was back then...... Happy Anniversary DALLAS!!!!!!!!

As a kid, I did not understand the idea of Dallas, but I loved this music.

The most iconic segment of Dallas theme song is the evolution of the guitar riff... Some sort of expectation "Ok, here we go, what they bring me today?"

Are you talking about right before the title card? I've always enjoyed the variations, also. Season 9 has no guitar in that part, however, and I kinda liked that it didn't for that version.

There was just something about Barbara Belle Geddes as Miss Ellie. A simple, yet strong elegant lady. A true matriarch

The crazy 80s prime time soaps knew how to open the show.

Thé french version was a big hit in France ! I love the French version ..so strong ..so drama …Just a Legend

I read many years ago that the season 3 episode "Return Engagement", the one where Gary and Valene got remarried and moved to Knots Landing, had its own special opening that included Ted Shackleford and Joan Van Ark. This was only on the original CBS airing though so might not even exist anymore. It would be interesting to see how they fit in the two extra actors and whether they had to have a longer version of the music.

I always loved Barbara bel Geddes and Charlene Tilton in the beginning. Lucy was so bad I remember even when I was little I couldn't believe what she was up to!

Best theme songs Ever! Vert nostalgic 🥹

Two things I didn't realise as a preschool little boy that I now do as a middle aged man: the theme tune just went mega funky by 1980 and went from bass guitar to horned clavs. You can even hear a moog doing sub bass... Two: Lucy was mega cute.

I just want to write that my name is Josh and i want to write that this is the year 2024 and i want to write that i believe that Warner Bros. studios should make all 356 episodes from all 14 seasons of DALLAS available to stream on the streaming MAX in 2024.

There is a second half intro for the 3rd season without Jim Davis, as he died halfway through the season, which is why Jock Ewing was removed from the series.

Jim died one episode left for the seasons finale, he was kept on the opening credits till the end

The 3:10 Section always confused me because I didn't remember that Episode now I realize it's from when Gary #1 played By David Ackroyd was working in The Study and Bobby encouraged him to take a break that JR was firmly against. This was when Gary cracked under pressure (again!) and left Southfork.

1:48 the Texas flag is almost equal to the Chile flag 🇨🇱 , the difference is the size of the blue stripe.

6:48 who knows which episode is the one that Ken Kercheval, Cliff Barnes is this clip from ? (the one in the middle where he smiles)

Great video as always. But Season 3 had two different intros, the first half when it shows the cast, all 3 pictures move, in the second version (which is featured here), only the middle moves the whole time, while the ones on the left and right move for a split second and freeze.

Why would the composition of the opening change in the middle of Season 3?

@@bmasters1981 Good question. Just a guess, but perhaps they experimented with different versions of the opening and later decided they preferred the one with the freeze.

The disco era of Dallas

These are all season 1 not 2 and 3. Ken Kercheval was in the credits from Season 2 onwards as he was main cast.

No - they are indeed from seasons 1, 2 and 3. He didn't appear in every episode of Season 2, which is probably why he isn't in the credits, though he was seen more as the season went on. But he IS in the one for season 3, which is the last one in this video.

@@stevejones6521 It depends if you count the mini series as first season or not. Counting the mini series as season 1, the Cliff appears not before season 3 in the main cast.

As it was a miniseries at that point, only the characters considered to be major were put in.

When DALLAS began as a summer replacement miniseries, Linda Gray and Steve Kanaly were not yet included within the show's opening credits. Afterwards, both were added.

@@W81Researcher Linda Gray appeared in the miniseries but she was not given proper recognition in the opening credits until the next season. Linda humorously reminisced : "I virtually had no lines of dialogue at the show's beginning. I could have simply been the Ewing family masseuse rather than JR's wife. So when the camera was on me, I silently acted with my eyes." Venom came out. And a star was born.

TImestamp 1:10 - this is not a Southfork Ranch! They must had used another house for season 1 completely.
