I remember around 1985 when the big crackdown on showing smoking on TV got into full swing. They tried to make exceptions at first for characters where smoking was thought to be an integral part of the character's personality, and I remember Dynasty making such an argument for Alexis Carrington (also Miami Vice making one for Don Johnson).

Although in the last two or so seasons Alexis was seen in less scenes smoking (exception: she was smoking in one of the final scenes of the finale and put her cigarette out on the carpet - did the Carlton Hotel not have ashtrays available in common areas? and/or she was making a dramatic point- about a minute or so before she and Dex fell through the balcony railing) and they used scenes of her taking a bubble bath instead (usually with Dex). Still I shudder at how many young women despite the health warnings took up smoking & got hooked at least in part because they saw Alexis smoking in the series.

Thank you for this - my 1980s childhood and adolescence wrapped up in 8 mins - I am always so grateful to people like you who take the time to compile these videos so even four years later they will be enjoyed globally. Thank you again from London UK ❤

There's already a soapish drama series based on the British Royal Family. It's called 'The Crown.' 😄😆 Kidding aside, the title 'Dynasty' seems to reflect a real-life royal family with their glamorous lifestyle (high-brand designer clothes, jewelry, fast cars, horse riding, etc.). Hopefully one day someone would've create a series based on a fictional European (or Middle Eastern) Royal Family with Dynasty-like infighting and intrigues.

I just discovered that someone "tried" an updated version of the theme for a tv remake of the show. It was not even remotely close to the original's greatness. Some things need to be respected & left alone. Use the same theme or forget about it.

You didn't - Michael Brandon was only on The Reunion miniseries, same as Jerome Crabbe (sp?). The creator did a great job compiling this - only quibble I have is he/she should have included Al Corley's credit for The Reunion; Robin Sachs' was done, so was Kathleen Beller's.

Our favorite tv series dynasty we were kids in 1980s last season in 1989 we were at 9 th grade we were watching in evening around 9 o’clock and go to bed dynasty was with Arabic subtitles ihope if there special channels for classical American tv series as Incredible Hulk and falcon crest and Dallas and black beauty with full episodes to remind us of our beautiful childhood memories
