What was so funny is that in some parts of the world JR is known a Gee R, or even Jockey. When they did the Dallas Reunion Show, I would have loved to have them show the actors who did the voiceovers in foreign countries. The folks of guiding light, did a online chat with the folks who do their voices in Italy known as Sentieri.

Still one of the best themes ever. Glad they improved it over time & never ruined it. The bass line during a certain early season sounded like a case of irritable bowel syndrome. 😄 Glad it was toned down.

The 1987-88 season opening version was my favorite with the heavy percussion.

The great texas oil and land wars. Also a reference to the SMU - TCU rivaly. Oklahoma vs Texas = small potatoes.

Me too i loved it from the very first episode however for me it got better and more interesting in the 80s . The plots and story lines got better it evolved and became an international hit watched around the world.

Around the late '80s I had stopped watching Dallas but it will always be a legendary TV show.

I noticed that too. That one was the last one to have the original skyline in it's opening. Obviously had to update since Dallas grew enormously.

Yes, the season 5 orchestration is repeated under the season 7 visuals (so we don't get to hear season 7).

There is also missing the different credits used for the episode with J.R's funeral.

We loved watching "Dallas" and hearing the iconic title theme in its title sequence, and the 3-way split screen was used for 12 seasons on "Dallas" except in the final 2 seasons when it was only single screen elements in the title sequence, and "Dallas: J.R. Returns" and "Dallas: War of the Ewings." The 3-way split screen returned to "Dallas" in 2004 on "Dallas Reunion: The Return to Southfork" on CBS.

As time goes on the intros got more and more exciting. But sometimes I just like listening to the 1978 intro. The newer ones sound more powerful though.

I did not notice it but Larry Hagmans Dallas character reminded one of Stefan Dennis Neighbours character in many ways.

With Jenilee Harrison as Jaimie Ewing. I also remember Audrey Landers as Afton and Leigh McCloskey as Mitch being in the opening credits of earlier seasons.

They were both awesome!!

I didn't know they used old H.L. Hunt mansion for the intro shot. The fictitious Ewing family was based of the Hunt family.

For me Linda Gray was the bomb .........don't get me wrong Victoria was also beautiful. But there was something about Linda and Sue ellen that i could relate too. And her acting being an alcoholic my God she had some amazing scenes. That face her eyes sorry to go on but in my humble opinion. Larry Hagman and Linda Gray carried that show their love/hate relationship. Both great actors once Linda left i lost i interest.

Well, 14 seasons, 2 movies, 3 of the next generation - with ever evolving cast 😁 - not surprising.

16:36 I was too young to enjoy this show while it was on but not too young to appreciate seeing Charlene Tilton butt naked in the hottub during the opening credits. When my parents watched, I waited through the opening credits for this and then promptly left the room. The revival series seems to show a similar scene with the beautiful Jordana Brewster, although I can't quite tell.

Talented cast in those opening titles. Pity the script writers in weren't so talented as series progressed with some terrible dead-end plots and recycled stories
