SIGMAMAN69 very true! Jock would step in between them, push them apart, and threaten to beat the hell out of both of them if they took things any further. The sound of Jock’s voice alone was sufficient.

Jr pulled a gun on Clayton once. I dont know how everyone feels about Ellie marrying Clayton but I think they should have left her a widow. I just didn't like the trying to replace Jocks presence even though Jim Davis passed away. No offense to Howard Keel

  • @aw8119

@@justina249 I agree. Howard Keel was a very good actor and there were other directions that they could have gone in with his character. Pairing Clayton with Ellie was a mistake IMHO.

Bobby was definitely Jock's son. Jock also had a temper, if you ever watched Dallas the Early Years movie, but in his later years, he was more in control of his temper. JR knew when to push Bobby's buttons, and that meant either Pam or JR's shady business dealings were the causes of their fights. I don't blame Bobby for calling out JR regarding Christopher; Bobby has always been very protective of his son.

I remember when this series came to my country, Denmark, and the entire cultural establishment, I suppose, put it down like the worst garbage and superficial and so on and so forth. For my part I still remember this TV-show from back then and not much else. They can still say what they want about Dallas, but this was a quality show and I'm happy they decided to broadcast it here back then. Looking back like this also makes you think how much things have changed. They'd probably cut out the fighting scenes today :)

I was 1 year old when this show first came on. I remember my grandparents watching this show as a kid. Idk how the clips of this show came on my timeline but am thankful for it. I am planning to buy the series and watch from the first episode. So far JR should be a lot nicer to people seeing as though someone has to alway jump in to stop him from getting his butt kicked by Bobby. If no one intervene Bobby may have succeeded in ending him.

nicky29031977 : I was rarely on JR's side on most issues, but regardless he was still the character we all loved to hate. He was the straw that stirred the drink. He was the character that made Dallas, Dallas. That is not to say I didn't love the other characters too though.. Bobby and Pam were my favorites, although Pam could be annoying at times to me. Loved Jock and Ellie too. Loved Donna. Sue Ellen was one of the best and most interesting characters on the show. Her development from that beauty Queen, to a tormented drunk, through those relationships with Cliff and Dusty, and ultimately into a strong independent business woman of her own, was great. I wasn't much of a fan of Ray, but he was tolerable. Cliff was annoying, but in a fun way. He was JRs punching bag most of the time, so that made it fun. Lucy was "ok". I wish Valene could have been on the show longer. Also wish they had not killed off Katherine so soon.

J.R. is one tough SOB. He can take bullets and punches. Remember his telling Cliff before he orders Cliff's oil field to be shut down, he said, "In this business, I've learned 'you gotta roll with the punches'." I wish I could combine that saying with every single punch or knockdown J.R. got.
