D-L Vine St Branch
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
I dug into the archives for something a little different from the usual multi-unit chase up the mountain on the D-L. In October 2001, I caught the 645 doing some switching around Scranton including a trip up to Green Ridge yard and then onto the Vine St. Branch. The highlight was lifting a car from Gress Refrigeration which I think is now no longer an active customer of the D-L. I bet the crews are glad they don't have to chase down the drivers of cars parked fouling the track anymore.

Picking up that refrigerated boxcar was one of the coolest switching moves I have ever seen. That was awesome.
thats old school history right there, switching IN the city ! I love it
This is one of the last British Columbia Railway locomotives Very rare to see one in good Condition like this.
Real nice video, I enjoyed it very much, and yes, a nice change of pace, to see them switching on the streets. I was a little guy when my Dad used to take down to the Brooklyn Navy yards, and see them switching in the streets there. Yes,I was born and raised in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.
Really cool stuff, THANKS for sharing!
That's one hell of a horn!
Thank you for the great video. It's very well done. I enjoyed every bit of it.
Nice to see that M420 is getting decent use after its time with bc rail.
Thanks for that video. A real treat. Excellent video.
Wow! What a cool video. Our local service in Plattsburgh is severely reduced with only a couple customers left. What a cool video, and a cool scene. Thanks for sharing.
Now theres an engineer that knows how to quill a horn!

Lovely stuff, some great driving on view there. Good job to help the flag man work off his Coney Island Hot Dogs. Love the loco colour scheme. I think I have a couple of shots of it in those colours from my first visit there.
love that bell...
Great video😀
I guess at the time people just thought they could park right on the track, lol. Its nice to see these locomotives still being put to work, even if they are relegated to simply moving a few cars a day on a shortline. I don't think power is ever really an issue on these shortlines, mostly short trains so whatever is available or cheapest is probably used most of the time.
At 9:07 Brakeman gives hogger a double look as in " I'm goin' in now, don't move". The potential danger of going in between cars is really evident there.
Great video! That M420 sure seemed out of place out there in the streets; it sure seemed huge out there. Probably the slowest bell I've heard on a diesel before too.
nice 2 tone green

Damn TV! I thought it was shades of grey. Old NYC.
That bell reminds me of one on a steam loco.
this engine looks like an old BC Rail unit.
Very nice !
Cool thanks mate
Hopefully this line is reactivated someday, many of the railroad crossings are sitting derelict intact
i believe it was repainted to GVT Corporate Scheme #2045.
