Detroit & Mackinac-Central Michigan RRs

Bay City, MI was a regular stop for us on the way to the Upper Peninsula. In 1988 and 1989 I caught this switching action and transfer moves, as well as a road freight coming in from Saginaw. This was during the period when the D&M power was pooled with the CM as they were both under common ownership.

Dang, that RS-3 sounds sweet! Modern locos have lost that soul entirely.

Hey fmnut thanks again for sharing this video! I watch it every few days. I had another request, by chance on your way up north back in the day did you ever stop and film any Michigan Northern or TSBY trains?

The best part of this whole video is none of that horseshit, punk, Gangbanger graffiti. Kids were better educated back in the 80's and early 90's.

Did you ever capture the D&M 10, it was a 44 tonner with a rather unique Wabco horn with curved bells. We have this horn in the basement of the SMRS but I have never heard it sound as it is now missing part of one of the bells.

sorry, but no. It probably sounded a bit like a Reading MU horn which was also a curved bell WABCO. see my video Last Run of the Blueliners.
