Come take a walk with me as i check out the locomotives and equipment located at the Delaware - Lacakwanna Railyard in Scranton, PA. They have a large collection of ALCO's including a trio of restored RS-3s, former Conrail and a few other pieces. Some of the locomotives that are there are used for parts or scrap and others may be restored in the future. The DL railroad also loans equipment to the neighboring Steamtown NHS. Enjoy the video

Thank you for sharing your visit to see these magnificent machines. They are so gorgeous, even when they're rusted.
A VIA FPA4. Now that's a rare and amazing sight.
I'll bet this place is absolutely beautiful in its own way in the Autumn. I could just sit aboard that old Alco FA, drinking a nice hot cup of some of the world's best coffee (the stuff I make).

That restored caboose is a mighty inviting place for a cup of coffee too.
When I watched this video I couldn't help but cry a bit. I retired from the Lamoille Valley/ St. Johnsbury & Lamoille County Railroads. Two of the old units I ran are here. At 2:43 is RS-3 #204 in STJ&LC red. It wasn't one of our better units. Then at 4:27 is RS-3 #4068, our LVRC #7801, ex D&H 4068. I was the last one to run it on the LVRC as they parked it before I retired. It was second only to our RS-11 #3612, ex DW&P 3612. Both of those units would pull their guts out and ask for more. Glad to see that they both still exist with the 3612 on the York-Durham Heritage railway. Thanks for sharing this video!

Getting chills from the history of that beautiful classic iron sitting there.
That crunchy gravel noise is a good sound....
What an awesome place. So many Alco's of different types. I could spend an entire day here. Good video ! 😁👍
I would love to see them get that FA running. And then another to run them together. Love the work you all do keeping these engines running.

Looks like D&L is trying to get a FA2 running, awesome! Great video of the yard! I didn't realize how many junkers they had lying around.

That FA2 is owned by the Anthracite Railroads Historical Society, not the DL. And it's not being restored to operating condition at this time.
What a beautiful collection. Makes me curious to what DLWs motivation is to save these old alcos and keep them alive. I also got a kick of the marking on some of the original units. Looks like someone ran around overly excited with a spray can but I’d do the same.
Thank you
Great video, its been a long time since I have been on those grounds, myself and Bernie used to check out this area quite often growing up. Neat to see everything they have or had down there, I know from previous pictures I have seen, 211 is in pieces and a lot of these locomotives are repainted. Great video.

The 211 was returned to service earlier this year. The blue ex Wabash unit is currently being rebuilt.
If you guys want to see these trains get a chance at revival or see other Steam Trains get a revival and put back to use, write a check to Steam Town PA. They fix and run Steam engines and historic trains.
Wow, awesome video! Picture quality is superb!

I saw the 6763 on NS 11Z at La Plume, MP 659. Based on the videos i've seen, it was dead in tow, going to virginia.
I did not know there were that many Alcos left in the world ,let alone one place

hey does the railroad plan on give steam town National Historic Site a few of there older diesels when there stricken from the roaster because some of them look like they were restored for a museum and my question is did they repaint there diesels into the lackawanna paint scheme because of the museum ? and btw did u have to get permission to film at there shops
Do these engines still work? More than 60 years ago, there was a huge popular network of railroads, and then they got neglected, and many corridors either ended up abandoned, or converted to freight only use. In the early part of the 20th century, trains can take you anywhere. I hope the railroads get an upgrade and revival.
Loved the intro look. They need to bring that caboose to me. It would just fit on the east side of the yard., Lay foundation put track down air lift it in. No problem as long as some one else paid for it.
Train heaven 😄
Nice set of working and non-working power. I thought #1805 ran, I wonder if the plan is to use it for parts or paint and use it? #1800 #1801 and #1802 are up north here on the DL&W and the Falls Road Railroad! Nice video!

It's actually a GP8.
I have a question...at 9:34 is that an abandoned little speeder ( speedy ) ? Those old trains are beautiful...looked like a fun day . I enjoyed the video ( still playing catch up : )

I believe its the end of a passenger car. I can see how it looks like a speeder though. Good eyes!
I was there 3 days ago. Many of these engines have been parted out further or have disappeared. Though I'm sure some returned to service. The American crane is still there.

I was an early Conrailer. Alco and heaven do not belong in the same sentence. There's a reason they were all gone by 1980.
I wish somebody would store a EMD GP9 in my yard. They just need to pay for everything to get it to my house, transportation, crane and lay a few rails down.

The 324 is a candidate for restoration but it is far down the list as it needs rewiring.
It is part of Steamtown National Park
