    It's that new-fangled zinc penny. A good old American copper penny would have handled that screw no problem. Seriously, nice review. On the plastic lower bearing surface for the bolt: If it is kept clean it would be somewhat self-lubricating. but if sand or grit gets in there it would be a problem. I found some serious issues with my wife's .32 ACP Taurus magazines. (Yup: Taurus. Yup: .32 ACP. It's pink, what can I say?) The plastic followers (terminology? Plastic things that sit under the cartridges.) were seriously worn in the corners, enough to cause serious mis-feed problems on one of them. I think the magazines came pre-gritted from the factory.

    Thank you, I’ve had a CZ for a few years. 512, no cycling issues at all. Some accuracy issues , have to use the tight ammo. 30 grain Vmax shoots the best but some CCI heavier loads shoot great also. Great stock on mine. Picking up a Savage A22mag this week. Hope it shoots well. I want a beater for round the house use. CZstock too nice to beat up. Saving CZ for squirrel and daytime varmints!

    Hi Mike, nice video ! I also watched sootch00 do a video w/ the same gun but his had a single recoil spring, do you know which is the newer model the dual spring or single ? I have a 452 22 LR bolt action cz and love it i want to get a semi auto. Thanks ps. his video was jan of 2017

    I like your reviews and I feel like you can be trusted unlike many others on this gun. How reliable overall has this gun been? Which jams the most, the CZ or Savage wmr? I'm trying to decide which one to buy.

  • @MichaelBellmbell556

    @MichaelBellmbell556

    Both have been reliable with a variety of ammo. Both jammed with DynaPointe ammo, the Savage more than the CZ. They have been perfect with other ammo. The plastic stock and parts of the Savage look and feel cheap, but the receiver of the CZ is polymer. The receiver of the Savage is solid and well made. I like the bolt design of the CZ better than the Savage. Pick the one your gut likes the best. I plan to keep both.

    having the springs above the boltface will result in the bolt being pressed up on the way back riding in the steel upper part instead of on the plastic rails.

    My biggest concern about this rifle is the fact that the foreend attaches to the barrel. I had a similar Anschutz 525 semi auto in 22lr that had the same feature - trouble was if you held it tightly you could visibly deflect the barrel and mess up the accuracy. However, I can see that this design gets round the problem by having the receiver in 2 halves - I would have thought the upper receiver just rides with the barrel if there is any tiny movement. Also the barrel is thicker anyway than the 525. Is that your take on it also? Might just have to get one of these. 22 magnum is the most powerful semi autos allowed in the UK where I am..., but we can have suppressors no problem!

    The problem with not being able pull the charging handle all the way back with the safety engaged is only a problem when your hunting and game warden stops you and you have to disengage the safety to get the round out of the chamber. Most law enforcement officer don't like the sound of a safety frolicking off.

    Michael can you tell me what size rings you used (height wise) and also the total over all length of the Simmons scope you used in the video ? This may give me a good idea on different length scopes I'm looking at to choose. I'm trying to figure out ring size height and length of a scope, because I do "not" want to remove the rear iron sight or any part such as the rear blade. I'm looking at possibly getting the Talley rings or something just as good as Talley in the (high) version, and I believe they are right around .600 high, but I was wondering about the medium size rings if I could get by with those height wise, I don't know. I'm looking at different brand scopes in 3x9x40 with BDC.for the CZ 512 WMR. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Aren't polymers petroleum-based products?! That means that applying an oil or grease, which are also petroleum-based will eventually cause the polymers to break down and erode. It would probably take years to happen, but you should probably use a non-petroleum lubricant on those polymers rails! Maybe graphite?

    Too bad this has been discontinued in the US. Nobody wants to sale their used models either. I always wanted to add this rifle to my collection and was finally ready to purchase but never imagined CZ would nolonger offer this model to US consumers. The CZ 512 is available in Australia and New Zealand and will cost a little more than $3,000 to import. As a huge CZ enthusiast I am very disappointed and feel like CZ has let down the US consumer. I'm rethinking my opinion of CZ. The only other 22 WMR semi-auto rifles are less than desirable with CZ and Ruger both exiting the US market. The only comparable manufacturer in the US is Volquartsen and their models are way overpriced. If CZ would bring back this model to the US as a limited edition I would pay very handsomely for it. Until then my CZ collection is incomplete and I am very disappointed with CZ.

    We are seeing more and more polymer parts used on fire arms today, but when used in or near the action, it's begging for trouble and will find it! Added to that which causes more concern is the sloppy workmanship which makes one wonder what else were they sloppy, something China is known for...Crappy Workmanship and a lack of quality! Polymer belongs on you guns and not on forearm!!

    well, ya got a lot of CZ fans, I am not one of them. This gun is ugly, styling just falls flat. The polymer issue is a not so good deal, what the heck, the CZ is supposed to be a high end gun or am I missing something. The two piece stock with the forend bearing bearing on the barrel is counter to conventional wisdom in search of accuracy. Overall this gun looks like a smorgasbord of design ideas and they don't impress me in the least.
