I was a metal guy in high school but her quirky presence and unique voice started me on a journey of exploring other genres of music. That first release is solid all the way through. Huge respect for Cyndi Lauper! Timeless hits with Girls just wanna have fun and Time after Time.

I'm also a metal dude (myspace deathcore was my era) but I always kinda appreciated her and others that had a kind of authentic interesting personality and unique approach. My favorite song from her is Sally's Pigeons.

I'm a Metal/Punk/Rap/Blues/Classic Rock/some Jazz, etc kinda guy 😂 I do really enjoy some Pop songs and am a sucker for catchy melodies (which is why I love Kurt Cobain and his amazing talent with creating some of the best melodic vocals and riffs ever in my opinion). I do like Cyndi Lauper and she's the definition of being a true Punk rocker. Doing and looking exactly the way you want to and not giving a fuck what others think which everyone says they do but most people do care and even obsess over what others think but not Lauper! Her song being on the Goonies soundtrack and being played on it is what first showed Cyndi Lauper to me. I was born in 84' so I'm a total 80's baby.

My quintessential '80s moment is dancing with my sister to "Girls Just Want To Have Fun" on her stereo. Cyndi is such a cute little pixie, even today at age 70. Pop stars were more wholesome and accessible then, and even my grandmother liked her, probably because her vibe was like a 1920s flapper girl brought into the 1980s. Even her story of rags to riches is like a silent movie era starlet. Thanks for sharing this.

Thank you so much for doing this wonderful video on the wonderful, magical Cyndi. Before I became a Metalhead, I fell in love with Cyndi. "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" started it, "Time After Time" sealed it. I bought _She's So Unusual_ and fell in love with most of it. "True Colors" is probably the best song she ever did. I fell in love with the song back when it came-out in 1986, 8 years before I did the same. I saw Cyndi in concert in 1997 at the Jones Beach Amphitheater in Wantagh NY. Her mother was there and joined Cyndi on stage and went with her throughout the crowd while Cyndi was singing "Hey Now (Girls Just Want To Have Fun)" which was not a version I really liked but I hold the memory special and dear to my heart. As an out-and-proud gay man for very nearly the past 30 years, Cyndi's amazing, unflagging support for our community has been second to none. Her main ethos is to be yourself and have fun doing it, something that has helped me very much in my own life. In short, Cyndi Lauper, besides being a great singer, is an amazing person. I love her always and forever. 🏳️‍🌈
