Hailing from Ireland, The Cranberries would be the largest musical export from the country since U2. The band’s first two albums which were released in the 90's would be massive sellers, but by the later part of the decade, band was on the brink of collapse. Cancelled tours and controversy led to the band falling apart almost a decade after taking over the world. The band would remerge in 2009 until it all came crashing down almost a decade later resulting n the end of one of the most successful alternative bands to come out of the last three decades..

In 1995, I worked for a catering company that catered events for Bill Graham Productions events in California. We were catering for the Cranberries concert at the Berkeley Community Theater, and my boss told me "the lead singer is asking for a vegan meal. Can you make her some lentils?" Lentils are something I knew I made really well, thankfully. I made sure to season them with a touch of Indian spices, and added fresh tomato, onion, garlic, olive oil...anyway, about an hour later, a tiny lady appeared at the entrance of our dungeon-like, dark kitchen deep within the windowless depths of the Theater. She asked "who made the lentils?" I raised my hand up and she said "thanks very much. They are delicious!" I was so happy and on such a high from that. I think of it everytime I hear them😌

I met Delores in 93 while working as a stagehand at a Hothouse Flowers concert in Hannover, Germany where the Cranberries were the support band. In '94 I lived on a farm in Saugerties NY (my home town) on Churchland Lane, MTV came & rented out the farm as a homebase for MTV's Woodstock '94 coverage. At one point that weekend I looked out my window & there was Dolores preparing for an interview, so I said "I love you Dolores" & she replied " I love you too". As a 19 year old kid living on sight of the fest that weekend was filled with numerous unforgettable memories, but that moment was by far the highlight.

So sad. She had a cottage near me in Ontario, Canada. My brother delivered furniture to her with me and she played the piano for us and she had one of her kids there. She was so polite and generous. I've been a fan from the start. She was so talented and had her own style which she never wavered from. She fought to make sure she would be heard. With all that she went through I believe she didn't kill herself on purpose. She just wanted to relax and zone out and clear her head. Bi-polar disorder is something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. Having 2 children to care for in a very busy lifestyle breaks my heart for her. The stress she had to endure must have been debilitating. She is missed. RiP Dolores.

Well covered sir! I'm from Northern Ireland. Zombie was a massive hit when it was released because it spoke of the horror of the Troubles and united kids from both NI and the Republic of Ireland. The band crashed onto the scene with a bang. I was studying performing arts at the time, and they were everywhere. A massive influence on all of us, even the metal heads. They proved that Irish bands really could make something of themselves and that Irishness no longer represented a roadblock to success. Long live Dolores' memory. She was a true inspiration and one of the finest singers our island has produced.

At the time I was working as a motocycle courier and a couple of days later I was waiting outside MTV studios. A car pulled up and Dolores got out.. i said "hello Dolores," she turned around to me and turned back. Then she turned back to me,pointed at me and said "you".. And her smile.. so beautiful.. miss you.

I was living near Belfast when Zombie was released. The troubles were tiring people out and nobody wanted it to continue except the gangsters making money from it and those indoctrinated into the paramilitaries, who had lost loved ones and were still hell bent on revenge. What made this stand out was that it was like a breath of fresh air, giving the regular folks in Northern Ireland a song they could relate to. A song that predicated the signing of the peace treaty. The people didn't want it anymore and this song reflected it perfectly. Everyone I knew would talk about the song, sing the song and when it came on MTV it was always a blessing.

There's even more variety now, you just have to know where to find it. Obviously, most of the good artists are barely scraping by, or even have dayjobs - but the music is there, and totally worth supporting. It's like every variety of music that I loved from the late 80s and early 90s has an evolved version of it someplace, and even some people that nearly resemble bands i loved, just doing new things with the sound. Granted, the sound of nostalgia is the greatest sound of all, because we have memories and rose tinted glasses of youth to link up with all those songs. Still, if you dig around enough, there are some amazing bands out there. Lately I'm hooked on Speedy Ortiz - Major Arcana album, they remind me of everything I loved from 90s bands like Sleater-Kinney or Heavens To Betsy and all that good stuff

Hotel rooms are the loneliest places in the world. You are surrounded by smiling staff that don't care about you. You are alone. Drinking is an attractive option. It passes time quickly and hotels provide plenty of it. I can totally understand and sympathise with what happened to Dolores. It is a terrible shame she did not stay with friends. Getting into a bath seems like a nice idea when you're drunk, but obviously not a good idea. It's a tragic, avoidable death. Rest in Peace Dolores. I still listen to your voice every day.

"smiling staff that don't care about you". Staff is working, they are not running a daycare center. When I was on the road as a musician, I never once expected them to coddle me or treat me like anyone special, and it was not their job to do so. With her money and available resources, she should have tried a bit harder to seek help. I miss her, but her death was caused by herself and was avoidable.

I took my then girlfriend to the Cranberries in ‘95. I wasn’t a fan but she was. Dolores had the most amazing stage presence. I’ve seen so many shows and this one made me a fan. One of the top 10 shows I’ve seen out of close to 250 others.

She can never be duplicated. Amazing and one of a kind. Rest sweet lady, but let us keep hearing you sing forever . . The voice of an angel . . .

"Zombie" was one of the best and most memorable songs/videos of the 90s. A bunch of Irish musicians reached small town American teenagers like me.

When I first saw her in the "Zombie" video in the 90s, she became one of my earliest crushes- maybe even my first. Such a lovely voice that masked a troubled, deep, misunderstood soul. Love always, Dolores.

That was really good and very accurate. Too bad it had a way too familiar sad ending. Delores was an amazing singer song writer guitar player front woman. Very talented. Her quest for normalcy in her life was never ending. She adored her children, her family and her band mates. I have a lot of respect for them for dissolving the band after her death instead of searching for a new singer. Delores was the Cranberries. There was no replacing that little spit fire with that big huge unique voice and unique lyrics that only Delores brought to the band. They were family broken and grieving. They were all kids when they started the band. They were heartbroken but smart enough to know she couldn't be replaced. The world was shocked, and saddend by her unexpected death, and we all felt for her beautuful children who she loved so much. I give Bad Wolves credit also for making such a generous donation to her children. Rest in peace Delores. You will never be replaced or forgotten. You were one a kind, and such a pretty funny talented musician who never was afraid to tell you what was on her mind. You are missed. ❤😢

I saw them open up for both Suede and Duran Duran. They were terrific.
