Cutting Chevron Amethyst. Raytech L-10S 10” Slab Saw Autofeed. Lapidary Rockhound Tumbler
I finally got the slab saw that I wanted. The Raytech L-10S slab saw is not massive and doesn’t need gallons of mineral oil to cut rocks. I put it on a small table and can use water to cut. The reservoir is removable and it’s easy to clean.

The slabs together look like a mountain range.
Very pretty. Looks like it takes a while to do, but the end result is worth it. . Love the scenery at the end. I'm off to detect. Take care.😊

Thanks for watching, Kimberly! I dunno how I got this deep into rock cutting. It too late to back out now. Good thing I find it relaxing. Lol I hope you find lots of goodies! GL&HH! Jay

@@Gaptains_vloG How long did it take to cut one slab?

@@leannkennedy6568 maybe 20 minutes. It’s easier than free handing slabs on my tile saw. I started off using the the suggested amount of water. I found that using more water helped flush the slurry and cooled the stone better. The cover kept the water in and the noise down.
Hey Jay I have been watching you I have been into your content on metal detecting but I found it very cool to show the cutting of that amethyst and I have worked in marble and granite fabrication most of my life. But that saw I never seen before and I would like to be able to look it up if you do not mind giving me a little info on it. I do have a Target wet saw but that one was nice. Oh my wife ask me to ask if you intend to sell any of the stones as she is a big collector of gyms and stones, before I know it the place is starting to look like a museum. Keep it up make it fun and Happy Hunting 👍🙂..

Hi Martin! Thanks for watching! I started off using a harbor freight tile saw. This is the Raytech L-10S 10” lapidary slab saw. Raytech was sold a couple years ago. I’ve been looking for one for a year. This is the first one I’ve seen for sale. I had to buy it. There are similar machines made by Covington and Hi-Tech Diamond. I’ve never sold any of the heart shaped palmstones that I make. I give them away. Maybe I’ll do a giveaway on an upcoming video.

@@Gaptains_vloG that would be very cool
That'll make slabbing MUCH easier, even if it's a little slower (because you can't force the stone through). I need a short of you clamping up the stone. Oh, and, try to figure out a way to squeeze in a, "Shake, shake, shake," next time! 😂

Not being able to rotate the stone forward or back against the blade does speed up the cut. I get saw marks from doing it. Lol I’ll get on that clamping video today.

@@Gaptains_vloG The worst is when you're tired and not paying attention and you end up corkscrewing a cut around a stone more than a full rotation!

Beautiful slabs, what are you making from them?

Hi Steve! I make heart shaped palmstones and give them away. People seem to really like them.
