CRF300 Rally Escape: Joshua Tree MotoCamping

Hey Friends. Here is my video about my CRF300 Rally Escape to Joshua Tree for a night of motocamping. I got to meet up with my friend Amanda as she is traveling across the country on her Honda CB500X. My new bike handled great and I'm excited to share this little motocamping trip with you.

Awesome video! I knew what was up with your speedometer because I finally got through my break in period on my Rally last weekend and of course I was anxious to see what she would do! With my 210lb of pure muscle (not), plus my riding gear, and with the wind in my favor, I was able to top out at a whopping 81 mph. Which is just fine for me, because I try to avoid the big roads (freeways, interstate, etc) whenever I can. But, if I have to jump on the hectic big road from time to time, the little bike is definitely capable of getting out of its own way... I’m absolutely loving it! I lived in San Juan Capistrano for a year in my early 20s... It was a year that I will never forget! There was so much to do there, and so much to explore, especially for a south MS country boy, I felt like I traveled to a completely different world! Lol... To be able to go snow skiing and scuba diving in the same weekend is something that you can not do in too many other places. Also, being so close to the Mexico border was a blast. About once a month I would make my way down there, and each time I would travel further and further. Tijuana, Rosarita Ensenada... Good times! You should be getting your new seat soon if you haven’t already? I just received a notification from seat concepts yesterday with a tracking number, mine is on its way! Stay safe out there! Those California freeways freak me out! But the Ortega Hwy would definitely be a blast to ride... I loved that place. I lived up in the canyon, 12 miles up the Ortega, but the house is gone now due to forest fire. I left the year before it burned... Never a dull moment in SO CAL!

Thank you! Yes, my seat arrived today. Can't wait to try it out! I was pleasantly surprised that it shipped earlier than expected. Yes, So Cal is great, but I probably won't retire here though. I lived in Temecula for several years and that was the best location for just about everything. The Ortega is a blast to ride, I've only done it a few times on a Harley Davidson Fat Bob. The downside of being here is drought and fires. The Holy Jim area just burned again.

Awesome John! I just installed my seat and so far I am happy with it. Just need to get some real miles on it and I will know for sure. My reach to the ground has definitely improved as I got the Low Seat. I still tippy toe when sitting straight up, but can easily flat foot when scooted to one side. Feels more stable then holding the bike upright on the toes. Happy and safe travels on your Rally 😁
