Having said that, I've heard great things about the Giant Loop system You earned yourself a new sub. :)

    Just a tip with the GL Fender Bag. I slightly hollowed out the orange clips into a circle and it fits great mounted to the rear rack bolts. I have it mounted all the time and put my Coyote Bags over it as well. Happy to send a pic, though I don’t know how to in KZread comments.

    Say Jess I have the same bike with the Giant Loop great basin bag and a few other Giant Loop bags and they are great. But what I want to tell you is how I am going to mount my GL fender bag. Since it will not fit on the front fender here is what I have done I removed the bottom strap and moved it up a notch or two and mounted it on my wind screen since I don't look through it any way. It has seemed sold enough on there but I have not been able to test it out on the road yet because of snow on the ground. Any way it is just a thought that might save you from buying some thing else. Giant Loop also makes two bags that attach across the gas tank under the tank bag and also to the front fairing on each side of the bike. They work great to hold tools or water or fuel bottles and they are out of the way of your legs.

    Thanks for the great idea, John. Giant loop makes some great products. I invested in another possibles pouch thinking it would be great for the rest of the tools.

    Have you also considered getting side panniers and rear rack for the crf? Which is better, no racks or with racks?

  • @SoundMindADV

    For now rackless luggage works well for me. I have the AXP rear rack that is nice and wide with grab handles. I keep luggage racks on my other bike with the option of soft or hard panniers. the other bike is for longhaul trips.

    Your such a professional at this. Might I ask why the fender bag for your tools would not work very well? You mentioned something about suspension, I didn’t plan on modifying mine either, but I was just talking with someone who is going to replace just the coil spring on the rear shock, and possibly adjust the velocity of oil in the front. These rear springs only cost about $100. Im really curious to see how that turns out for him... It might add the perfect amount of stiffness that he’s looking for. I’m not really sure how many different types there are on the aftermarket yet, but it could possibly turn out to be a great low cost solution, especially if these manufacturers are offering variable spring rates...

  • @SoundMindADV

    @SoundMindADV

    2 жыл бұрын

    Thank you. Each video is just practice for the next and I feel like quite the amateur still. As far as the fender bag, I felt the Giant Loop bag was too bulky for the fender on the Rally.....and with tubes and the tools it seemed too heavy. Maybe it it contained, just the tools, or just the tube. The only tools in it were tire changing tools. Might look for slimmer option if I decide to go with a fender bag. I have thought about the spring replacement on the shock as a future option. Definitely more affordable. I'll ride it for awhile as is and decide from there. I totally get why some riders have to switch it out right away, but not necessary for everyone.

    @@SoundMindADV sounds great, you must be a natural... thanks for the tips on the fender bag, those are some things that I did not know. I’m still trying to sort my tools and spare tube situation out myself... I was told that a 21” tube will work in an 18” wheel. So if that is the case, I might just be carrying only one spare tube. I know that I can be one of those people who are guilty of over packing more stuff than I’ll ever need, so I’m going to try and stay mindful of that as well. I completely agree with you on the mods, I’ll ride my bike like it is for a while too. I kind of like the idea of having more upgrades still left to do! Lol.. That might sound kind of silly to some, but I’m definitely not going out and buying every mod for the bike right out the gate. Modifications, for me, can be part of the ever evolving journey. Lol

    I’ve been working on my kit as well. It’s tough to pare it down to the minimum. My biggest problem is I like to have too many “what if’s” packed. Tools weigh quite a lot as does the flat repair stuff. I’m taking an extra tube as well. Do you have some sort of jack or support if you need to get a wheel off the ground? I made an adjustable support out of an aluminum cane. I’m looking at fender bags for the tire repair kit. Why did you decide against it?

  • @SoundMindADV

    @SoundMindADV

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yes, it's easy to pack the just in case items. When riding a bigger bike, it is better for carrying those extras, as you know. Tools do weight quite a bit. I have a little trail stand that picked up from Revzilla. The Tirox snapjack x-trail pro: www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/tirox-snapjack-xtrail-pro?sku_id=10024875 I think there are lighter options out there. Your homemade one probably works pretty good too. I haven't ruled out the fender bag entirely. The Giant Loop one seemed too bulky for the Rally. Might work better for the standard 300L. If I can find a slimmer fender bag for just the tube, or just the tools that would probably work better.

  • @bradb2514

    @bradb2514

    Yes, I agree with needing something slim but still a little more useful. After buying and returning two, I may have found one. I got the Nelson Rigg fender bag delivered today. (Amazon free returns…yay) Only about 1.5 “ tall, if that. A 21” tube is tight. Can maybe slide in a couple small tire irons or little things but not much more. It can be mounted with 4 hooks or 2 hooks and a strap around the fork tubes. It sits below my headlight. Worth considering.
