Creek Walking and Flipping for Turtles and Snakes! BIG Softshell, Gorgeous Kingsnake, and More!

Ойын-сауық

A great mountain outing in north Georgia and Alabama and our best bike cruising session so far! I'm loving the snakey late spring we're having here in the south! Suprisingly, both the Common Snapper and Softshell were new for this year’s species list. Hopefully we’ll see plenty more over the summer!

Hey just wanted to let you know that your channel does have some real life effect. I'm not any kind of naturalist, but a couple days ago I was hiking with a group of people, including a 3 year old, and we ran across a snake. Based on your channel and previous r/whatisthissnake comment checks, I was able to identify the snake as a common watersnake almost instantly, and not a cottonmouth. Set everyone at ease immediately and the kid (and me too!) was so happy to see a snake in the wild. Also, clarification, no one got within biting distance, but it just relieved the tension to know that no one was in immediate danger. Floyd County Ga.

I’ve commented in the past that this is why I started watching . I’ve always had a fear of snakes and it’s helped me immensely to be able to identify snakes and put my mind at ease. My neighbor came to me last week all upset saying I have a snake on my back screen porch. I identified it as a black racer and for the first time in my life I picked up a snake because I wasn’t scared anymore. So this channel helps to preserve snakes so irrational people don’t just kill them.

WOW, thanks for saving that awesome turtle. I saved a giant one in the middle of busy traffic. Fortunately had a big shovel in the truck. A nice man jumped out of his truck and took the shovel. Way too heavy for a girl to lift 😳😳😳😳😳😳😳

Awesome stuff per usual. I loved the big female softshell. Also, I really liked the common snapper. I very rarely find them at any size besides hatchling or large adult. It's quite rare that I find one in between those 2 stages of growth. Also SMOKIN' kingsnake. Thanks bro-ther. Catch you on the flip-side. Richard and Heather from Arkansas

"I'm being chased!" he says mockingly as the Cottonmouth tongue flicks at him like, "Bro..." It's funny how much I've learned about our native venomous snakes watching this channel. All the stories I heard growing up, about Cottonmouths, Copperheads and Corals have turned out to be lies. This channel is very educational for those of us in GA. Thank you for the great videos!

    - [ ] I use a heavy and long gauge belt conveyor roll for the same reason you find under ground snakes in Georgia… - [ ] I live in southern Virginia; However think it - [ ] Could become a faster hack finding fossorial snakes but maybe not as good for king snakes and pit vipers? Please let me know if you are aware of this method. If not I would be happy to donate a small sample supply to your channel!
