My 20 month old daughter loves this channel. Snakes are her favorite and she's always excited for what you find. She asks for sssss and I know this is what she means. We don't do very much screen time in our house, and you're her pick when we do watch! Her favorites are seeing northern water snakes hunting frogs at our local park. She loves your close-up road shots.

As someone who lives in the UK, I am very jealous of my friends across the pond who have access to all these amazing herps! You’ve got so much biodiversity compared to this country, we only have six species of reptiles and seven species of amphibians, a lot of which are incredibly rare. One day I’ll get a chance to come over to the South-Eastern states and herp, I would love to live there some day

In central Florida, on a road I'd cruised hundreds of times under all conditions, never saw a Crayfish Snake. Then one day at dusk after a few days of rain, they were crossing the road everywhere. This was a road through cattle ranch country with weed choked canals on either side. I'm guessing that's where they'd been hiding.

You are correct on mud snakes- I've kept many, and rarely had one under 3.5 ft that wouldn't accept tadpoles and the occasional frog. Never tried juvies on newts, as the ssp in NY is different and I was worried about a difference in the toxins. Have had some hatchlings that would take dragonfly larvae, like red bellied swamp snakes, as well as appropriate sized tadpoles. None ate crayfish, even freshly molted, which isn't to say it doesn't happen in the wild.

I came upon a pile of broken up cement slabs dumped in the woods , and thought , let me look close at the nooks Well 3 feet behind me , a timber? Rattler started buzzing I thought a cicada at first , then focused on the sound and realized what and where it was , grabbed a stick , cleared the brush and got a few pics He's fat as my arm and head as big as a handball Took an hour for my nerves to settle
