I'm curious as to where the thickness of that old file suddenly disappeared to at 4:43. How many hours of grinding did it take to get the blade that thin? And you showed us none of it. You should really have included some of that, to give us the complete picture. Even so, a beautiful end product.

As a general safety rule you should NEVER wear gloves when operating these kind of machines. Same goes for most woodworking machines too.

He annealed it first to work it and later hardened it, and I am with you about tempering it.

Way more time consuming than I thought. I've made a few knives but not a file knife. What temp. For taking out the hardness of a file.? Can I use my oven at 500 degrees??? For one hour in and turn off oven, leave inside to cool over night ?
