I'm having a hard time understand some of the comments where Americans, British, and Canadians are talking shit to each other. As an American I know both Canada and the UK have our back if shit goes down, just as we have your back. So rather than piss and moan at each other lets all be thankful that we have good allies. Not to mention all the Canadians and Brits I have met were really cool people.

When the one soldier was asked what he missed about home, he spoke of his daughter coming back downstairs after putting her to bed.. how it frustrated him although now he missed it.. reminded me of all the things that annoyed me about my 23 year old Michael .. Lost him in a car accident on July 21st 2018.. I miss every single thing he did ...In saying that - Anyone who serves or has served has my total appreciation and respect 🇨🇦 🇺🇸

My neighbour is a vet of Afghanistan combat engineer, I've been honoured enough by him to let me know some of the stuff he and his men went through! I know some of these fellas here served with him. My country needs to do more to help these brave men adjust to civie life again. He took part in the battle of Fish Mountain, most Canadians never even heard of it! It seems to be the one battle of many he took part in that ways heavy on him! I help him as much as I can, and he helps me out a lot also! Remember these are our boys, take the time, every time you get the chance to let them know we stand with them! I wish I could do more to ease his pain! Thank you all for your service each and everyone of you! You made it home! Don't let the enemy beat you now!

I’m from one of those ‘heathens’ out west, PPCLI guy here I don’t know you, but for you to write a comment like that after all this time - I imagine you had a pretty good reason for not being able to deploy 🙏🏻 Your heart seems in the right place! (Or maybe you got out before 1RCR got it’s turn?) If you deployed, you get plenty of memories - good and bad. For the bad, for me it’s always been regret…regretting doing things, or not doing things, or not doing things fast enough. If one doesn’t deploy, there’s regrets inherent in that too. The profession of arms is one of unique memories nobody else will have. It’s also a profession of being away & lonely even when surrounded by people who we don’t have a ton in common with. Best of Luck, MCpl. Burke 2000-2011

Sorry for the necropost, but what exactly is wrong with "the Pro Patria stuff"? Pro Patria happens to be the motto of The Royal Canadian Regiment and is something that we said (when I was in) to each other on a daily basis. The brass collar dogs that members wear on their dress uniforms is that of a beaver (the symbol of hard work and industriousness) surmounting the motto "Pro Patria". The connotation being: Work For Country.

I've been watching documentaries on the US and UK forces fighting in Afghanistan and now this one from Canada, I know they're all old, some of them close to 20 years but I still find myself holding my breath and praying that everyone is safe and still alive and doing well. I can't begin to imagine what it is like out there, I've been thinking how do they do this, they go to a war and don't know they'll come home. How do they find the bravery, the courage, the strength to do it, sometimes once, sometimes again and again. I watch these documentaries and my heart is filled with love and gratitude for all these men.

Kilooscarromeo as a troll attempt that was pretty forced. If you actually feel that way then I pity ya bud. A kid like you giggling at a vet but you'll never know their circumstances or their struggles. you focus on the uniform and don't care about the person within it. It's genuinely saddening to see such unnecessary hate come from such a pitiful source. Either way, feel free to have whatever opinion you want of soldiers. Just know that your skewed and albeit annoying attempt to piss people off just proves how sad and lowly of a little creature you are. Have a good day.

The Germans was definitely the best fighters in WW2. The last German soldiers in Germany was often old mans or kids. The other soldiers fight at the time the D-day was in Russia or in different lands. But the fact is the Germans had make a big mistake and don't think the Americans, Aussies, Australian and others come there. The general from the Germans must stay their most soldiers, Panzer's and the canons and other weapons on a false point why Hitler want this. Fast all of the high military officers wasn't lucky with this, they wanted their groups on the point who the Dday was. But don't made was Hitler said, he got a hit morph and meth, he where more silly and let you shoot down.

All get fine results, it seems. British approach seems to be generally conventional at a high standard, German is similar but with emphasis on volume of fire over quality of fire. US is also quite conventional but in the other sense, relying primarily (in this comparison) on air support.
