Aww that's so sad. As a pet owner I understand. No. The coyotes are not going to be removed. They deserve to live. We need to adjust.

Coyotes live all over the city and surrounding areas. Keep your dog leashed and have motion lights in your backyard

Up North, we have had this issue as well. Dusk and morning keep pets inside. Ive lost multiple cats to them. They follow the streams as paths all thru the cities

They control the invasive outdoor cat polulation that's decimating the native wildlife. I don't want to see pets killed but cats are super predators that kill for sport. So nature is controlling them.

I've seen coyotes in Granite Falls. Didn't know they hung in urban places as well. Makes sense there's lots of resources of for them in cities when its the middle of winter.

Yea. Also Discovery Park is actually really big. So it would make sense that they hang out there and kind of fan out to the other areas.

Little dogs need constant protection, poor baby. A big doggy friend wouldn't let this happen.

Not true. Their natural range expanded considerably after wolves were mostly eliminated. Not that it really matters. We will be here last💀

They have been in the Seattle area about 70 years. Lots of animals in the area haven't always been here (e.g. Eastern gray squirrels, Eastern cottontails, nutria) but that doesn't mean we should remove them. Removal of non-indigenous species has to be considered on a case by case basis. I haven't heard anything yet that convinces me that coyote removal in the area should be seriously considered.

@@kai-jm7bb I agree. Coyotes do serve to keep the population of cute pets in check.

@@oldcrust4741 LOL Both my sisters lost cats years ago, killed by coyotes in Seattle. Now, they keep their cats indoors. Better for the environment, cats destroy a lot of wildlife, especially birds, and indoor cats have much longer lifespans. So, maybe coyotes serve as protectors of wildife , and cats, in a way. Some twisted logic, as is getting rid of them because people don't want to keep their pets near them. There are other risks to small dogs and cats, raccoons, birds of prey. I've seen coyotes both in the wild and in the city. The largest and healthiest ones were in the city, both close to dog parks. I'll stick to keeping dogs that weigh at least twice as much as a coyote.

You either get big, beautiful, semi-wild parks.......or you get urban decay.
