Because today people's in rich countries milk & meat eating demand is also very high and these companies see big $$$. Year's back when people didn't have all these factories milk & meat demand was very very low. And people didn't need too much food. Now, cheese chocolate, milk protein powder etc , endless list.

Don't compare cows to human women, they're not the same. It's comparing apples to oranges. Dairy cows typically aren't actually good mothers in the first place and tend to not care for their children properly. While I agree that factory farms are horrible, majority of US farms actually treat their cattle very well. I mean, it's their livelihood, they kinda have to.

Also the idea of even eating what was once a living being or wearing a byproduct of its corpse, is sickening to me now even though I was brought up in a major dairy/sheepfarming/pig/chicken producing country, this being Ireland. A major shift in human consciousness across the entire globe is what is needed with compensation and subsidies to farmers to diversify to plant and tree based production that excludes carcinogenic glyphosphates so it isn’t a case of jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire, so to speak.

Melt my heart. Though I was a vegetarian in my 20's I am a hypocrite who cares deeply for animals but eats meat...I know hypocrite. I don't believe I could ever hunt, unless my life depended on it of course, but I let others do the hard work of meat processing and packing. The meat industry workers were especially abused during the Covid-19 crisis. I want to change my ways and have no excuses not to. I don't believe my husband would give up eating flesh but I know I could...

Most of California is desert- it turned green and into farmlands because of pipes filled with water from the Colorado river. The first homes built in LA did not have running water, water was delivered and they bathed once a week. Water changes everything!

The other problem is the over population of humans on Earth. That creates a deficit for the food chain. People need to think before reproducing.

I am as progressive as they come in the Greater Nashville area, but when it comes to this with my ideological allies, I simply 🙄. Cows are great...a fantastic domesticated animal that is a source of nutrition for a nation state. This manufactured issue is one of many things that fall under the part of our ideological platform that is a turnoff for moderates/independents or right of center voters in opposition to Trumpism as a whole....which is the bigger issue.
