Always a good show with Stu. It's been a long time since I've had any faith/belief in the Hab's management group but I really believe that they are on the right track...

Start by getting a hell of a lot bigger the final four teams are massive fast and skilled.

Big and soft don't do much. Skill always wins in the end. People keep saying they are small, they are way above most teams. They need a second line and good 3rd and 4th. The D is there. When Anderson, Armia, Gallagher is go ne they will be bigger and tougher to play against.

I agree. Trade Lil Hutson for a big scorer

I think HuGo got a master plan going on.I think any player (or agent) worth their salt and want to win will be lining up to get on board. Some if not most players just want the $€$€ and the spotlight(not on their play but can be on TMZ or MTV cribs!) It takes a special player to be a Montreal Canadian, especially with HuGoat the helm and are determined to return the Habs to their former glory!

By doing a spelling mistake failing to write “HuGo at the helm“ you actually made up a SICK word : HuGOAT !!!!

This team is still lacking in elite offensive talent. All things considered equal and if teams play to their potential, they get smoked by NJ in a conference best of 7 matchup. Panarin is a career 1.16 pts/game player and was obtained as a free agent. They don't grow on trees. Montreal will have to draft their way to a cup. The quickest way to mediocrity is to attempt to "speed up" the rebuild. Losing Gabriel Landeskog was a pretty big loss for Colorado as was losing Valeri Nichushkin in the middle of the playoffs. Briere was 36 and completely washed when he came to Montreal. Lafreniere was not "terrible," he was placed on a pretty good team with some star players and was seeing 4th line minutes and no power play time.

Montreal is basically just putting a team together to make the playoffs within 5 years...They would have needed to tank solid at least 3yrs to get a solid core. Indeed in Montreal, just making the playoffs is our championship cup !!!

@@powers1500 You may be right however Hughes inherited Suzuki, Caufield, Guhle, Mailloux, Roy, Tuch, Kapanen, all players in development, except Suzuki. With the infant D they have built they will likely pick top 10 again in 2025.

@@starledge If they drafted top10 again in 2025, that will be great for the rebuild, but most fans/media expect them to possibly battle to make the playoffs next year. I really doubt it myself since Detroit, Ottawa, New Jersey and Buffalo should all finished in front of us again while also battling themselves for a playoff spot. Montreal has to get out of the 2024 draft with two genuine high end top6 prospects since their rebuild is getting closed to coming to an end. Again, fans/media want results even though this is only the 3rd year of this rebuild...time will tell !!!

@@powers1500 Yeah, the fans want to win right now. If they develop young players and make the playoffs then they are doing everything right. But I don't see it. They have three defence men with zero NHL experience and 2 more with about 200 games combined. For me, the rebuild is over in 2 to 3 years when the defence reaches post development.

Habs are in a good spot , we just have to hope Hugo doesn’t fuck up the rebuild. We have a lot of draft capital and a lot of prospects that have potential. Patience is the key

Exactly. I don't think he will. Since Jan 2022 Hughes has 'added' zero experienced goalies, zero defence and zero forwards, nothing beyond temps to plug a hole. All this talk about making a big splash at the draft ... just idle talk. They aren't ready.
