Anaheim has definitely drafted well and have an impressive prospect pool. It's a job made easier by finishing near the league basement year after year.

Is Catton or Demidov the next smaller offensive wizard like, a modern day Joe Sakic, Doug Gilmour or Marty St. Louis? The NHL playoffs are so tight checking, I think slick puck skill and compete level are so important. I think larger physical fore checkers can fill in the 3rd and 4th. It is a very interesting conundrum to have, I can't wait.

I think you can have either the 6th, 7th, 10th or 11th with either matheson or ghule. so you do that, you draft Dickinson and get a forward with the new pick.

If at 5 , the Habs take either Lindstrom or Iginla... it will be the wrong pick. Sam Dickinson will have a bigger impact on the ice playing 25 min a game.

Plus Bedard was -44 last year and no right shot D in their top 15 prospects. Anything can happen but won't surprise if they go for positional value and take Levshunov.

@@deuceb8472Plus-minuses are meaningless in evaluating a individual player. Especially if that player plays onn a crappy team like the Hawks. Anybody who thinks that -44 is a detriment to Bedard's overall value is nuts.

@@damsquare-nh4md Firstly +/- is not "useless" in evaluating a player. Like every other secondary stat it's useful in context. But you're missing the point which is that the Hawks are horrible defensively and they have no high end right shot D in their system. In general in terms of positional valuability for NHL GM's, right shot D > wingers. Hawks fans seem to really want Demidov to play with Bedard but I think there's a good chance they take Levshunov.

About trading Matheson for a top10 pick...lets not forget that we got him for Petry. His trade value might not be as high as what some fans/media believe. Matheson still has serious warts in his game especially on the defensive side but he got himself a career season while playing 25 minutes a game. Is he going to play top pairing minutes on a good team ???

I like him he knows Hockey

I wouldnt take Parekh in the top 10, his defensive game is so awful he would get murdered in the NHL. Also if you trade Matheson you lose the insulation for your young guys and risk ruining their development.

You maybe right about how long Grant worked as an NHL scout but Grant still has more credibity than most of these media guys doing public rankings on internet...Most of them have never been even as close to an NHL team as Grant was.
