The thing Terry is trying to say at 13:30 about Quinn Hughes having the puck the most but has the least giveaways. Actually he has the puck the most in the league (at least among defenseman) by a wide margin, that's true, but he has a decent amount of giveaways (not the most among d-men though). The point there is because he has the puck so much, he has a lot more opportunities to give the puck away. If you look at leaders in giveaways this year, it's all the best players in the league. 1. Pasternak 2. Kucherov 3. Draisailt 4. Barzal 5. McDavid etc.... Not to say giving the puck away is a good thing, but only a star has enough opportunities to rack up league-leading giveaways because they have the most puck possession. You can't take # of giveaways as being a bad thing about a player.

That is such a bad idea for a fix. Cannot have legitimately injured stars out of the playoffs just because they had a week long injury right at the deadline. Nor should you give teams or players a reason to rush a guy back before he should be playing so they can make an arbitrary cut off point. Nor do the fans want to see good teams rest their stars for the whole month leading up to the deadline so they don't get injured. Literally any one of the effects is worse than the current situation we have.

just make salary cap count in the playoffs. you might be able to add an extra 9 mil filling in for the regular season, but come playoffs when your other star is ready, you suddenly need to make room for that star
