He's an absolute steal by the Habs, what a player he will become!
I have this feeling the chemistry he’ll build with the Habs forwards will take him to a level even higher than what he’s shown in college.
@JIMVINNY1

Yep. He spent the season with Celebrini, so this won't be the first time he's played with elite players. But the things he's going to do with a prime Suzuki, Caufield, Slaf and Dach are going to be fun to watch. Those players are not only skilled, but smart and experienced as well. He'll benefit immensely from those qualities, and those guys are going to reap their own share of the rewards.

Watching the way Hutson anticipates and moves into open space in the offensive zone makes it much more clear why he was able to score a lot of goals as a defenseman. I love players who can read plays and anticipate so well. It makes them seem a lot faster than they really are because they move first, and people always end up asking "why does the puck seem to follow him around?" or "why is he left so wide open all the time?"
He’s gonna be the biggest steal of the draft
@wal-kid4522
Ай бұрын
actually hes not that big maybe the smallest steal
Also noticed that clean little sequence at 3:00 while watching the game. For his first game ever in the league, that was a quite a nice play - from starting on his own red line to being the first player at the other red while creating an opportunity and also being back in time to defend. IMO he has the potential to be a norris winner in the future when he hits his prime.
I like this kid a lot. He's exciting to watch and his skating is dynamic and fun to watch
I've been watching videos of Hutson for the past few months. I am blown away by his offensive skills. Literally blown away. His hockey IQ is in the top 2 (yes, not top 5, but top 2!) players I have seen in a couple of decades. Like all geniuses of the game, he has developed his own personal style and technique. His size will put him in difficult situations from time to time, but like all little geniuses, he has devised a catalog of moves and tricks that give him an edge over bigger players, which is to say almost all other players. My main concern is whether his teammates will be smart enough to adapt to and understand his moves and playmaking when he is on the ice!
@maxloyer6

I think so, alot the time i notice some players creates great options but habs lack the means to get the puck to that player, hopefully hutson will help
Hutson was unbelievable. ❤
Absolutely love this young man’s game! So fun to watch. Congrats to him on all of his accomplishments so far and good luck in the future!!
your breakdowns are always a treat to listen to thank you

I like that you compare him to Quinn Hugues...but his stick handling seems at time to be a little better and his vision and hockey IQ seems high for his age ! I too believe his skating while being good and near NHL level could be a lot better. He will improve, that is certain and after that, it will influence his entire defensive options. I really like what i see of him right now and also his potential ! Defense will be crazy long term in Montréal with him, Mailloux, Ghule and Reinbacher !!

I played winger until I was about 10-11 at a decent level. I was the kid who outskated everyone and didn't think at all on the ice. Everyone caught up to me and I didn't have fun anymore. So I quit. I continued playing ball hockey after that. I just got really interested in understanding the game later on (probably because I couldn't figure out deception or anything like that as a player at first).
super belle analyse du joueur. J'aime commence tu expliques ses jeux.
Love him! great video
I wonder, if Xhekaj really dials in on his defensive play we could see these two paired in the future, the threat of Hutson dismantling his defenders along with the threat of Xhekaj's absolute bomb from the line would be interesting to see

He's faster than advertised even if his stride isn't pretty. I think he's always going to be a pretty sub-par in zone defender and a bit limited on the breakout but zone entries, transition D and in zone offence his ceiling is so high. He and Reinbacher could be a really good pairing down the road
It’s gonna be fun to see what he can do next season, i think he’ll be wha the Habs need for their PP, I can’t see him Laval, gonna be second pairing with Savard I think, which will be great for his development
I see a 80+ pt guy in Lane Hutson. In the 2 Detroit games, he had 2 primary assists, but he could've easily had 4-5 pts. He's the next Makar.

It's a factor in the play (and I should have mentionned it) but it doesn't change the read. Not a big mistake and not really on him. It's basically "he could have adapted and helped" situation.
Armia broken stick and him leaving to get a new one leaving a man down and not covered was a big part of that red wings goal,
Is he going to clear the front of the net? Perform the reverse belly slide like Savard? At 5'10 162 lbs, I hope he likes the poutine to gain a bit of weight. Otherwise, I have a vision of Scheifele’s hit on Evans for a second.

8:50 : I still dont know why Nick Suzuki went behind the net in that 3 vs 3 situation, plus Anderson did not even try to cut the pass, the Wings player was absolutely not showing appearance to shoot, the pass was obvious...Hutson did so much, sad he looks like to be the one who did not skate good enough on the play when Suzuki would have a chance to be there to help with a better anticipation.

It's not a mistake, just an occasion to show something he could improve.
He is like Harlem Globetrotters on ice
He did lose the race with Raymond, and certainly didn't look as smooth doing so, but to his credit he barely lost a foot race with a guy who has 82nd percentile top speed.
remember when our superstar rookie and future HOF'er Poehling lit up his first game? lol, they will never learn in montreal
@Paul-fg6mk
Ай бұрын
There is always the possibility of failure. But in his case, it's almost nonexistent. In terms of hockey IQ, he is above all the first draftees of the last 5 years. For example, he is much, much better than Slafkovsky in terms of skills and understanding of the game. Comparing him to Poehling is an insult to Hutson. It is absolute nonsense. Poehling does not have one 50th of his talent. Did you see his first two games? Offensively he was already better than 95% of the other Canadiens players. Of course, if you think Elvis is alive, you are not going to impress anyone with your analytical skills!
Give him a break, it was his 2 first games in the NHL, i think he did great, better than i thought he would, he's not Quinn Hughes, he's Lane Hutson, watching your Hughes clips, was like watching Hutson in slow motion, Hutson is a lot shiftier, with time he will be better than Hughes.

Liability? sheesh...

PK was an incredibly strong skater (elite) and had a great shot. He used his physical side well when needed but his creativity has nothing compared to what Hutson has show he can provide. Very different players.
lane needs 7 lbs in each leg to be more solid and faster
He sure is exciting to watch! I can't wait for next year!
I'm Canadian and Habs fan, I guarantee you team USA will do something special vs Team Canada ( cole caufield)
The forwards are so bad in the defensive zone they give the defense zero help.The pressure is constant because the forwards never eliminate passing lanes they are way too far away fro mthe points giving opposing teams easy passing lanes to keep the cycle going. We had 2 years 160 games that is a LOPT of hockey for St.Louis to "get it" and pass on the needed information to his coaching staff and that has NOT happeened. St.louis imo is all about offense but to win a cup we need two way hockey to create our best transition game. "Deception" is how an athlete should be playing EVERY sport nobody should act like it is anything special if your not a deceptive player your an average nobody.Hutson is a really good smart player but he has nobody to think like him so he will be less effective than we would hope.
