Most everyone who watched this video of Courtney performing "Sucker" likes her version better. Yep, agreed, she needs a full stage whenever she performs any upbeat song. This was recorded when she was just 14 shortly after after stint on Champions was aired. She also recorded 3 other in that same back room in the studio she was working on her originals for her album before COVID ruined everything. Her raw vocal power, attitude, passion, expressions are really unmatched by anyone else today. Not to mention how she can manipulate her voice which gives her not just that raspy, gritty sound, but also she plays with her vocals to add other sounds that I don't think I've heard from any other singer, even from the past. Also if you get to hear her sing a ballad, she will surprise you as she did most others. 2 of these 4 "Cover Sessions" mini EP which are on most digital media services, are ballads. I'll link them here below. "Sign of the Time" kzread.info/dash/bejne/qm2EystvidXNYs4.html "Someone You Loved" kzread.info/dash/bejne/l4Ztt9qco827g7A.html

Your reactions are so subtle, I wasn't sure what you thought until you spoke. First of all, there is no other artist at all like Courtney. Secondly, that's a great remark about no stage being big enough for her; that's why her performances will be so electric when she gets back on stage.

Hey J-Man. Glad to have you back on a Courtney reaction. I could tell from the little smiles I saw on your face at various point in the song, that you were really enjoying this performance. You're right, Courtney's version blows the original completely out of the water. Courtney's vocals are unparalleled and when you combine it with her vocal power and versatility, she is truly a generational level talent. You also get some idea of her creativity here as she completely made this song her own and created something truly spectacular. You've reacted to two of Courtney's songs now. 'Sucker' and her original of 'Pretty Little Thing' from AGT Champions. Both were sensational, but you've only seen one facet of the brilliant diamond that is Courtney's talent. Not only is she a stage dominating, fabulous rocker, but she is equally as great across so many genres including R&B, Funk, Soul and Ballads. For your next reaction, you really need to do a Courtney ballad to fully appreciate what a truly gorgeous voice she has. I've put links below to a couple and also on your request form. They will just blow you away. Courtney is a prolific powerhouse as a songwriter and she has accumulated a huge song library of originals over the last two years of the Covid lock downs. She has shared a number, either in full or as a short clip, and all have been just incredible. Courtney was on the verge of releasing her debut album of original music when Covid hit and her release date has been repeatedly pushed back over the last two years. Now that she is able to travel again from the UK to the US (there was a full ban), a release date is expected in the near future. Courtney has millions of fans from virtually every part of the world that truly love her music and the built up anticipation for a release is phenomenal. When her music drops, it will be epic. Just a last bit of info to emphasize how amazing she is. Courtney was only 14 when this performance was recorded. As I mentioned above, below are links to two ballads of Courtney's to give you a little idea of her incredible range. As she did with this song, Courtney again destroys both originals. Music hasn't seen someone with her level of talent in decades, if ever. Can't wait to see you react to more of her fabulous music. She was halted in her progress by her publishing company. Now, in 2023, she became an independent, released four videos of her own songs (Breakable, That Girl Don't Live Here, Call Me Back, and Monsters), plus an audio of her own Christmas song called "Christmas Rocks". She has said that her album is finished for 2024 but awaiting release and she can not wait to tour and give the performances we all longed for from the AGT days. She is on her way!!!!!!

Before I fell into the GAVW rabbit hole, Courtney was one of the young talents that I spent time following on KZread. She has a unique voice and performance style. She put out quite a lot of good performances from about 10 years old. She is another natural talent. She did not win BGT for kids, She may have finished second, I am not sure. On AGT IMO she had her best performance on her audition and went downhill on her following 3 performances. All were good but from my perspective she seemed "tight" in those last 3. Whereas she seemed "loose" in her audition. I was pulling for her throughout her season and was disappointed but not surprised when she didn't win. She has real potential to do well in her career because of her uniqueness. She may be alone in her lane. Most other young talent seem to be crowding into a different, "cookie-cutter" lane.

Hey Eric, is GAVW Grace Vanderwaal? If so, I thought the same about how talented she is. Not really my type of music but she could truly write songs and very unique at such a young age. 12 I think on AGT? Have to disagree with your opinions on Courtney's other 3 performances though. She kept on bringing in more and more fans after the audition. As great as that audition was she was so nervous, not loose at all until the audience rose to there feet 20 seconds in to it. Then she loosened up. Probably the only performer I've watched on that show that season who continually had the audience on their feet right from the get go for each performance. If not for Mel B's comment on "Born to be Wild", which it was obvious she made to down play Courtney's performance to boost her own golden buzzer pick, there would have been nothing but extreme praise for Courtney until the final moment of that season, which btw, even the contestants said they thought Courtney was the sure runaway winner. Yes, there were many viewers who didn't like her old school rock style and if you followed that season, you'd know the Hater's for her came out in flocks to form web site on keeping her from winning and spread all kinds of nasty rumors and comments about her on the internet. How sad is that adults joined in to defame a young 13 year old kid. Many of her fans, family, friends and neighbors had to come forward to retract all the nasty lies the Hater's were creating. But they did do damage to her as it's easier to spread rumors with lies and cause harm in society as people seem to believe whatever they hear from others without taking the time to find out the truths for themselves. And that's a fact I've personal experience with people I knew in my own life who got defamed from others. Sad but true. Sorry for the longer rant than I wanted, but bullshit from Hater's really pisses me off. I totally agree with your thoughts on the other artist who who sound alike. As good as they are only a few stand out because of their style. Courtney will always stand out. Like her or not she will be remembered. Music is and will always be subjective to what we all like, but talent is either there or not. Courtney got loads of it and continues to add to her uniqueness. Oh yeah, for The Voice Kids UK when she was 12 they only picked a winner and the other 5 were never placed in any order, but most new Courtney was right there. The winner Jess Foley, the winner, was damn good and performed the genre that most are used to today. For me Courtney's finals was insane. She admitted that the voters in the UK were not ready for her yet. Hence coming to the USA the following season which AGT went after her after witnessing what she did on The Voice Kids UK. I wrote this long comment because I thought you brought your own opinions thoughtfully, even if I didn't feel as you about her AGT performances. More comments should be written like that, instead of just saying whatever negatives that get directed at these kids.

@@bertpainter8385 GAVW Grace Avery VanderWaal. I agree with almost everything you had to say, except of course, we had a very different take on Courtney's AGT performances. I thought that if she had saved her audition performance for the final, she would have won. But that is just me. I really loved that audition. But truth be told, There is nothing that she has done that I haven't loved. Courtney is another young artist whose career has been held back by the pandemic. She belongs on stage in front of people, live.

@@rickrhoden1 Of course, tastes differ. But perceiving looseness or tightness is not a matter of taste. We perceive different cues. Those that I have learned in my life tell me one thing. Those that you have learned tell you the opposite. That is one major reason that communication is so difficult in our world. We are all unique in the way that we see things.

Your review was rather insulting to Courtney, you are the very first person who has not raved about this performance which undoubtedly is far better than the original.
