Xavi has been a victim of his own success. He won 2 🏆 in one year and suddenly we were asking for more. It should have been more gradual and now that things are taking the right shape in reconstruction we ask for his head. Good discussion Dan❤

What's worse was some people knew before this season itself that the win was a combination of a lot of things not just xavi and still put him to a higher standard. There are people who still criticized him even tho they knew he couldn't hold that standard from the beginning

My biggest concern is Gavi and Pedri still don't have solidified positions. There should be a huge discussion in where they should be positioned long term and where/how their skills would thrive the most. Is Gavi a CM or DM? Is Pedri a 10 or a 6?

They’re both versatile, but in an ideal world both would operate as right and left interiors in a traditional 4-3-3 with a busquets-like pivot, weather it’s zubimendi or rodri

I think Xavi has been largely unfortunate this season because he built a system from last where Dembele was so integral as well as busquets in the pivot position. Losing Dembele and Busquets has been catastrophic to the system because the club is not adequately resourced to go onto the market and get better players in their position. Lately Christensen and Lamine have been producing performances close to Dembele and Busquets and the results are there for everyone to see. Xavi have not been bad but unlucky. That's my honest opinion.

the pivot position is so important for the type of position football they so desperately want to play. Crazy how the Barça board still doesn't understand this. Barça's real problem isn't Xavi, it's defensive stability, aka not leaving acres of space during counterattacks.

Should Xavi stay yes My reason, I don’t feel like he’s been given a fair chance to succeed financial wise, look at pep and man city the money they spent and it took him years before he won a single CL title, I would love to see Xavi stay get a bit of money and a few transfer windows to work his magic and if that doesn’t work then Ig he can go, it makes no sense for us to put down a manager who bleeds the Barca DNA and passion

Excellent discussion, guys, specially on Fermin's industry and the need to give him more time off the bench. Gundogan does tend to fade away as the second half progresses. Pedri seems to be superfluous at the moment with de Jong higher up the pitch - however, can't always rely on de Jong always playing there. Especially with a high press from an opponent. Interesting days ahead!

gavi and fermin are very similar in terms of their pressing and desire to win the ball. last season barca had one of the best presses in europe because gavi played as a lw and pressed to cover for lewa. fermin is not as physically gifted as gavi but he shows the same disire

In my opinion Xavi is the right manager. Barcelona before this season were doing really good because we had Busquets, Dembele, Jordi alba, and they were assisting Lewandowski. The problem is the departures of Dembele, Busquets and the injury of Gavi and Lewandowski not performing well, really have cost us a lot. Not replacing Busquets, Dembele, with top players in those positions really is dragging this squad, and I do agree playing a high line without a CDM is Xavi’s fault. I really think if xavi is backed with a good LW and a top pivot like Zubi then we could really see the best version of this squad. Raphinha and Lamine Yamal should really be rotated in order to prevent burn out/ injury, Lamine Yamal in my opinion is really good to be sitting on the bench nor not playing.

Seal has a massive point on needing athletes in your squad. Football is way faster and physical than 5 years ago and Real Madrid understand this best. With all their centre backs and other key players out, they're still really difficult to beat because they work the hardest itw.....maybe that's why they've been suffering with the most injuries. Can't keep up.

Dan, Ronaldo and Rivaldo are ALLOWED to have their political preferences. That's what true representative democracy allows for. Just because they are brown, they should not be expected to be herded into a partisan plantation as occurs with black and brown people in the United States. Just because they don't conform to your politics or the politics that is demanded of black and brown people by the militant left does not mean they should be thought less of. Political CHOICE for everyone is anethma to a one-party autocracy. Also, the diatribe about Alves was way to preachy and virtue signaling. People can be BOTH good and bad. They can do great things and horrible things. Remember when Dani ate the banana thrown at him? That was a great thing. It is a great thing still. People are good and bad, and adults know this. What he did was horrible, detestable, and he has been judged for that unconscionable failing. "hatred does not cease by hatred, but only by love. this is the eternal rule" -guatama buddha

He can laugh at Puig all he wants, because he is small and scrawny, but there is no denying how he took control of that Inter-Miami match. Sure, Busquets and Alba are older and slower, but he mowed them both down and robbed them blind. Even poked one or two from Messi. Nobody on today's Barca can pass like he does. NOBODY.

Enjoying this episode and especially Kevin’s analysis. Like some others have said, I think he’s a bit hyperbolic in his criticisms but I appreciated the majority of what he said on the topic at hand. Looking at those same topics, I couldn’t disagree more that irrespective of results that Xavi has been bad. Every manager struggles without their top players and it’s no coincidence that when Busi left and Gavi and MATS go down, we look so bad defensively. Dembele leaves and we can’t attack space. Lewy misses chance after chance? We lose/draw. He scores? We win. Not enough responsibility and nuance has been given to the players’ performance in these conversations imo.
