Daniel Cormier (born March 20, 1979) is an American mixed martial artist and former Olympic wrestler currently signed to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where he is the reigning champion of the heavyweight division. As of March 4, 2019, he is the #1 ranked pound-for-pound (P4P) and #1 Light Heavyweight fighter in the UFC.[6] Cormier is the second of four fighters in UFC history to hold titles in two weight classes simultaneously, and the first and only fighter to defend titles in two weight classes. Prior to the UFC, Cormier was Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix Champion and King of the Cage Heavyweight Champion. He holds the distinction of having won a world championship belt in every promotion for which he has fought. UFC president Dana White and UFC commentator Joe Rogan are among numerous mixed martial arts (MMA) pundits who consider Cormier to be one of the greatest mixed martial arts fighters of all time. Since 2014, he has also been an analyst and commentator for Fox UFC.
Jon Jones (born July 19, 1987) is an American professional mixed martial artist who is currently signed with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He is the current and two-time undisputed UFC Light Heavyweight Champion. Jones also held the interim UFC Light Heavyweight Championship once, thus making him a three-time UFC champion overall. Jones is also the youngest champion in UFC history, winning his first UFC world championship at age 23. Jones is widely regarded as one of the greatest professional fighters of all-time. As of January 2, 2019, he is #2 in official UFC pound-for-pound rankings. Jones is the younger brother of former National Football League (NFL) player Arthur Jones and the older brother of current NFL player Chandler Jones.

    @@JackSpear1000 I don't mind that Stipe won, but I'm mad that DC started to just keep his hands down from around the 3rd round onwards. DC just kept his hands down, kept plodding towards his opponent, and completely stopped any kind of wrestling attempt. The wrestler chose to stop wrestling, and chose to keep his hands down against an opponent with powerful strikes... and he got knocked out. The hell was that? I guess I should be glad that such stupid, prideful behavior was punished in the end.

    Hilariously enough, Salieri actually taught Mozart's son, Franz Xaver Wolfgang Mozart. He also taught greats such as Beethoven, Liszt, and Schubert. Which kind of brings Salieri back towards DC, who is a leader and teacher to many in AKA as well and his wrestling team. The rivalry between Salieri and Mozart was made much more bitter for the movie. If there was any rivalry at all, it was probably more between respected peers than bitter enemies. I would guess that DC probably hates JJ more than Salieri hated Mozart. The comparison, however, is spot on imo.

    Isaac Clarke it ain’t even debatable. Not only is Jones a dirty for his roids, but his knee stomps and eye pokes, and let’s be honest. Most if not everyone one of his title victories were against suspect opponents. Sonnen, machida, Evans all under sized, rampage on the sharp decline, Shogun was literally 3-2 in the octagon (let’s be fair and say he beat Machida twice though) the second Gus fight happened WAY after the sell by date with Gus on the decline. Jones “legacy” doesn’t come NEAR GSP, and he destroyed any chance of DC being remembered as fondly as possible with his juicing

    sECUREij Gus on the decline? Really? Before he fought Jones the 2nd time he had just put on the greatest performance of his mma career! Say what you want to about Jon Jones but he’s the greatest fighter this sport has ever seen. Roids or no roids he’s the best. And I don’t even like the guy!

    Chase Kemp Gus beat up an older also on the decline Glover Tex, and was literally 3-3 in his last six fights bump that to 5-3 with his losses to Jones and Smith. Sorry but like I said on the decline. I also like how you ignored Machida Sonnen Belfort Evans all being criminally undersized. Shogun suffering from his post PED abuse career in PRIDE never looking like the PRIDE monster, Same could be said about Rampage but arguably more so. Since he was literally a shadow of his PEDs self Glover being at best a testament to how shallow the LHW devision is BOTH DC fights having the taint of Peds around them. The only “clean” fight Jones has had is OSP arguably his worst performance against a questionable opponent, Sorry but GSP ripped the deeper more talent rich Welterweight devision a new one TWICE. Only stopping when he got tired of fighting juiced up monsters like Hendricks. Mighty Mouse arguably should still be champ (props to Cjudo though.)

    @@sECUREij You're right, Jon beat the shit out of everyone out of sheer luck. That narrative don't fly me. Either he's a rotten cheet that deserves no love of any level or he's the baddest motherfucker to walk the earth. It's one or the other. Sure, it could be a combo of the two, but I'm convinced that if Jon NEVER took PEDs he's still have won every fight. That head kick was not associated w riods. But I hear ya. I don't really disagree per se.

    @@sECUREij Right, lets not debate whether he was actually enhanced for most of his career or not as we'll have different opinions and just go in circles. However, lets talk about the fact that he came up in a pre-USADA era to become the youngest champion in UFC history, enhanced or not, that's very impressive to the point not many people can even get close to replicating it. Bader and Glover, plus the fact he also beat "TRT" Vitor all while showing incredible heart along the way, heart that you'd be hard pressed to find an equal comparison. In the 2nd DC fight he beautifully conditioned DC to expect a body shot and went high with a flush headkick, most people agree that regardless of enhanced or clean that fight goes the same way (again, not going to debate whether he was enhanced or not). Gus past his sell by date? What? He had just given DC the fight of his life losing a close split decision and was on a 2 fight win streak, not to mention he's the same age as Jones, that's just idiotic. If you want to talk about cheating and eye pokes, lets talk about cheating and greasing, shall we? As for the oblique kicks, they're completely legal and the argument against them makes no sense. People's "issue" with oblique kicks are that they're intended to cause injury, is a clean shin to the head not? Lol. 1 can injure a persons knee the other could literally kill them. Give it up, dumbest argument i've ever heard.

    @Yer Ma yeee its good that theres fans that Acknowledge how underhand Jones is, he isnt like Cejudo, cormier or nunes all of which came from a lower weight class to destroy the Champion... Jones is like Mcgreger with his ideas of taking the welter weight belt but all that changed when he got beat by a bloated LW at 170 in Nate Diaz Eg taking the rematch at LW basically an 84invh reach means nothing when your opponents are 6ft 4 also not to mention imagine if DC was the same size as Jones ? Jones is built like a MMAlien😂

  • @ridizzle189

    @@Jorge-wg9tq For sure Dcs the man and deserves that credit like the last fight was a NC so it's not a lose technically and the first one was forever ago now. Mcgregor left the division he had the most physical advantage in over his opponents and went up a weight class and jones has not. Mcgregor was originally the 145lb champ and went up to take the 155lb champs belt. Although yes he fought diaz at 170 and lost the first time but fought him again there and won but sure he decided not to pursue a belt up another weight class at 170. Also Mcgregor should be commended for even taking that fight. Mcgregor was originally scheduled for a title fight but rda pulled out so he took on diaz on short notice and even agreed to a catchweight of 160 and then to 170 to accommodate Diaz because Nate didn't think he could make the weight in time. A risk for both guys and nothing to scoff at.

    Except Sugar Ray Robinson is the P4P greatest boxer to ever live, whereas Lamotta isn't even an all-time great middleweight. Scorsese largely made that film because while Lamotta was scrappy and tough as hell, he was also an abusive, self-destructive goon. Hardly a flattering comparison for Cormier.

  • @MasterFatness

    @MasterFatness

    4 жыл бұрын

    It was not meant as a comparison per se. One of the last comments explored the possibility that with a 3rd loss to Jones, it may tarnish his greatness forever as the man who couldn't beat the best. LaMotta losing to Robinson 5 times still doesn't make me think any less of him than if he had won 5 times. Point being... DC is a Hall of Famer and will be remembered as a legend of the sport regardless of what happens in the twilight of his career.

    @@MasterFatness I see what you're saying. On the one hand, whether or not they fight again DC is already kind of seen as the guy who couldn't beat Jones, and that isn't stopping him from being an all-time great. But the video is correct that also losing to him at HW would truly cement Jones as the man who utterly overshadowed DC's career. This is why I always thought DC should make a run at 185. It's the one thing he can do that Jones never could.

    @Xftbllplyr I mean, the 3:50 mark of this very video debunks the idea that he doesnt pick his opponent. And in regard to fighting someone outside the "contender" rankings, that's exactly what he was set to do. Lesnar hasn't even fought since 2016 and hasnt had a valid win since 2010.
