Jake Paul (born January 17, 1997) is an American social media personality and professional boxer. He initially rose to fame on Vine.
Paul's boxing career began in August 2018 when he defeated British KZreadr Deji Olatunji in an amateur contest via TKO in the fifth round. Turning professional, Paul beat the KZreadr AnEsonGib in January 2020, via TKO in the first round. Between 2020 and 2021, Paul won his following fights against retired basketballer Nate Robinson by second round KO, retired mixed martial artist Ben Askren by 1st-round TKO, and former UFC champion Tyron Woodley twice by SD and 6th-round KO.

    I actually really like how Jake Paul is highlighting just how criminally underpaid MMA fighters are. The revenue split between the organisation and the fighters is 80/20, which is absurd. I really think this is a great time for fighters to unionise and demand higher pay.

You only make like 12k for your 1st match but then it goes up literally every fight . Only low tier fighters or a debut make that but that isn’t the full story. For example Deiveson Figueiredo in his 4th fight 3-1 record @ UFC 240 his base salary was 23K win salary of 23k performance bonus of 50k incentive of 5k estimated total over 100k! People hear that base salary being low but don’t know their a lot to the story . Also the base salary literally goes up every fight . In his 2nd fight Vs Brandon Moreno his base salary was 210,000 , 600,000 ppv payout , incentive 42,000. Estimated total 852,000! He would’ve made over a million if he did win! With 210,000 win salary. Brandon Moreno debut was vs Louis Smolka his base salary was 10k , win salary 10k , performance bonus 50k , incentive 2.5k estimate total 72,500! In his debut! That base salary dosent show the full purse . In his 3rd fight he made 82,500! His base salary went from 35k to 100k to 100k to 200k to 300k and it will keep going up. Khamzet 2nd fight vs Rhys base salary was 30k win salary 30k performance bonus 50k incentive 4K estimated 114,000. In his 5th already vs Gilbert burns his base salary is 150k , win bonus 150k, performance bonus 80k , incentive 4,500 estimated total 384,500! Paddy pinker debut was 12k win salary 12k , performed bonus 50k , incentives 4K estimated 80k in debut. Thats absolutely BS. Its a different structure than boxing much more rewarding to the FANS. Name me one boxing undercard fight that you remember? Just one. Nope there arent any they just build an event based around two fighters and there arent 500 employees to pay like the UFC so ofcource most of the money goes to the two guys that made the event. The rest of the card are paid peanuts becase nobody gives a fuck about them. You really want the UFC to be like boxing???? REALLY DUDE? Yes the main event fighter would be paid like 5 times more sure but do you really want it to be like that?

    @North London neither type could survive in the opposite sport. Boxers would get mauled by leg and body kicks as well as ground and pound, mma fighters would quickly realize that they’re hopeless without access to their entire tool belt. However I think it’s much more likely for an mma fighter to have success in boxing than for a boxer to switch to mma.

    Something Jake Paul’s journey into boxing has reminded everyone of is the politics and entitlement of boxers compared to mixed martial artists. Both Fury and Rahman, offered the biggest paychecks and exposure that they have ever and likely will ever receive, used politics to avoid the fight that they simultaneously claim is easy. Alternatively, all of the MMA fighters accept the fight and their actions line up with what they say publicly.

  • @dantheman4838

    @dantheman4838

    Жыл бұрын

    That's because mixed martial artists are competing in a sport where they know the promoters won't pay them millions. They already know that they dont have any real pull because there are only a few big promotions in the whole world, so they take what they are given. Meanwhile Fury is the brother of the current heavy weight champion, who get paid millions, and Rahman is the son of a former champion who also made millions. Boxers just know they have more options.

    @@dantheman4838but that’s the thing, Rahman and Fury aren’t making millions, not even close to that. Paul would provide each of them with the most exposure and the biggest pay day of their respective careers. The phenomenon you’re describing applies to the absolute elite of boxing. However, from the bottom to even the upper middle end of boxers, they make close to nothing comparatively. Compared to this, UFC athletes make far more within that range, and the pay flips once you reach the top of each sport.

    Pat is a grape. Mixed is like a fine aged wine. Both great but comparing the flavor of the 2 is like describing 2 entirely different things. And i say this because i love Pat. One of the rare mma guys who likes most of my comments and replies more than just a generic reply. But hes still a newb. He quit his job like a year ago to start his channel. And whilst the talent is there its not as polished in the storytelling or the choice of story to tell. I think Mixed is a case of "Its not the story you tell its how you tell it" an attitude that is very typical in his neck of the woods. Pat is the opposite. He is very matter of fact and his subject choices are less about the most interesting story. And more about the popular story. So yeah Mixed is basically the perfect creator who doesnt get in the way of his content too often. Pat just hasnt learned that yet IMO. But is still talented and makes good content... So hopefully he will.

    I was the same as Molly, just no way Jake beats Anderson Silva. Laid down my cash on great odds, booked the fight and took my viewing seat. I knew by round 5 this was going south quick. The fact that you guys really thought that Anderson Silva was gonna win is pretty funny. I’ve been calling all these fights that Jake would win. Seriously, if you can see past the charade and understand the nature of combat sports; you’d know Jake would win. He knows what he’s doing. This whole thing is just smoke and mirrors

    @@ravenreid3498 Thing is, if Jake's actually got real talent, it's not like there's not precedents of later comers in boxing doing exceptionally well, Wilder is the best recent example but possibly the best example overall is Sergio Martinez. @@buttovelli9198 Good question, I pulled a section on them and I pulled a section on the fact that "Jake vs MMA" only really makes sense if Jake steps into the Octagon. I had discussed Jake booking those two fights with respect to Dana's critiques of him not fighting boxers. And I had discussed the fact that this isn't truly "Jake v MMA" in the Woodley/Askren part, but they both really slowed the video down. The former was info a viewer of this video doesn't really need, the latter is an obvious enough point. So I pulled both in favor of video that had a little less info but a lot more momentum.

    One or two questions here. If Jake beats Anderson, which I don't think he will, would you have any interest in seeing Jake continue boxing MMA fighters? And, if that somehow happens, which MMA fighter, in his weight class, would you pick to beat him at that point?

    I heard that these big fights are total deception. They sign NDAs and basically agree a loss or draw. With a split on the ppv. It's basically a way to turn professional combat sports into nothing but pageantry and 90% of fighters will comply, because they will make way more money and not have to risk their physical health.
