    I don't know about you, but typically when I see a youtube video that's an hour and twenty minutes long, I'll pass it by. Not with you, though. I am one of your subscribers and I always love every single minute (and hour) that I visit with you. I always feel like I'm visiting with a friend. You are such a kind, humble, talented lady. I appreciate you. PS The porch swing quilt -- wow! I wish I could find fabrics in those vintage colors. 😍

    @@donnahutchinson2464 Yes, the ability to pause the video goes without saying. My point was that I do *not pause, but rather that I always stick with Tammie's videos from start to finish and "I always love every single minute because "I feel like I'm visiting with a friend" who is "kind, humble, and talented." I am laughing because lots of followers are saying what I was thinking - that every quilt deserves to be finished. I know it would take a lot more work, but my vote would be to complete your quilt as you first envisioned it. What a trip down memory lane it would be embroidering the flowers if you can find them! Such lovely quilts on show today. Congratulations to those whose we saw today. Such a lot of work in many of them. Well done everyone

    Another video full of instruction and learning from you. I love that you’re sharing your quilting journey with us. You are such a talented quilter and I look forward to each and every video you share. You’re a favorite indeed! Regarding your scarecrow quilt-my vote is to remove the 2 sunflower blocks and replace them with plain blocks. Call it finished and put it on the long arm for a beautiful addition to your Fall collection. We’ll all wait for your decision and look forward to seeing that WIP as a finished quilt. Good luck! I enjoy hearing about your quilting journey and seeing your early quilts. I too would make throws etc. to "practice" on and have something usable. I would either replace the 2 sunflower embroidered blocks OR add another 2 in the opposite corner and call it good. BUT absolutely finish it BECAUSE Every Quilt Deserves to Be Finished❣️ Someone whom I admire has a similar slogan 😉. And it is a part of your journey. Now, I am going to watch the rest of your video. 😱… I would love to see the sunflowers finished BUT I’m going to vote for pulling out the two that are on there and finish the quilt… Im just one that never starts another quilt top until I’m finished with the one I’m working on… I do send to a friend that has a long arm machine to do quilting… as soon as I get it back, I finish binding it… I have done a large hoop hand quilting…used to use large old fashioned quilting frame for hand quilting…. that’s all I knew from watching grandma, great grandma and great great granny. I also like hand tying when applicable… I’m the oldest of 12…9 girls, 3 boys. I love your quilts!!! Awesome videos 💖

    It's so fun to see quilts that are from some of the same patterns that I have made or plan to make! For example I've been collecting Lori Holt fabrics to make my Vintage Kite quilt. I hadn't thought of the possibility of making it with white, blacks, grays--Sharon's choice of fabrics makes the quilt look so pretty, and the Fox quilt is simply adorable! I've been hoarding a fat eighths bundle of Corey Yoder's Spring Brook, and seeing Elizabeth's Jelly Roll Race quilt reminds me how pretty and Spring-like the fabric is--I need to get my bundle out! I don't have the Christmas fabric or pattern that Jane used, but I thought I'd tell you that from across the room I thought the gray thread that you used for the quilting was actually embossed on the black fabric--nice! Cute Christmas quilt! Elaine's Scrappy Spools quilt is really pretty. I like the fabrics she used. Mine is all finished (yay!). I used the Stitch pink 108 for the backing fabric on mine. I also enjoyed seeing the quilts that already went home--beautiful as well! Sorry I'm so chatty but I really enjoyed all the quilts in this video. By the way, love your Porch Swing quilt! It was fun hearing about your first longarm adventure.

    Love the scarecrow girls! My first thought was to quilt it as is and use it. It’s a wonderful story. My second thought was….if you want to finish the embroidery …. Then either finish it using the sunflowers…if you can find the pattern…or use different flowers in the other blocks…randomly scattered about. Either way…it’ll be beautiful and loved.

  • @marshawallace7522

    @marshawallace7522

    And all the white blocks don't need to be embroidered. Perhaps only embroider some of the blocks randomly. That way it won't take as long to get it done. I do like the sunflowers so please include them even if they are the only ones you use. Personally I would probably separate them and put them near the center with the scarecrow girls between so they are also featured blocks. But it's your quilt and if you just long-arm it as it is, it will be well loved and finished❣️

    You've already answered your question. "Every quilt is worth finishing." If you feel up to embroidering all those blocks, then go for it, but I'd quilt it as it is. It has a story either way.

    I am enjoying seeing your early quilts. The ones you showed today are well loved and look so soft. On the little scarecrow/9patch block quilt, this is a hard decision to make, my first thought was to finish the sunflowers. Then I thought it would be easier and faster to take out the sunflower blocks. But in the end, I think you should quilt it as is , and use it, it tells a story. Happy Easter.

    Hi Tammie! I just watched the one with the Hometown Quilt from Lori Holt-first thank you for that, i had to then order the fabric and templates, watching that "tour of the town" was great! You also talked about loving big windows-i am moving into a house with big windows, however, i am super window cleaning challenged, any hints for that? I use windex and paper towels and the windows end up looking smoky and streaky :( LOVE your channel, always a pleasure to see your videos, thank you!

    COMMIT to doing one block a week or send it to me and I will embroider them for you. I have two embroidery machines, one being an older Bernina.. I'm in south-central Michigan. It just would NOT look complete without the sunflowers, but with them it will be gorgeous! I have tons of embroidery experience and can get those perfectly centered for you. I have put embroidery designs on many quilts. I will send you an email. Totally agree with the way you do borders as far as finding the halfway point. I do the same.

    I love the spool quilt with the wave design. If i were handguiding that design with a ruler, it seems like it would be easier to start from the bottom and work up to the top. Does that make sense?

  • @tammieearnest

    Yes, I understand. Running the needle along the top of the ruler and aligning it with the stitched line that was just finished. Great information @89sethy

    Wait, where’s the Purdue quilt? LOL I’ve recently started documenting my quilts with a book/journal I found on Amazon. I have all the info down, but now I need to add photos. I was surprised how many quilts I’ve made over the years. Luckily I used to keep a blog and had many listed there that I might have forgotten.

    If the embroidery designs are saved on a card that fits in the Bernina machine, then you might be able to stitch them. If you need to use computer software to transfer the design, then you might be up the creek. I have old Bernina and Pfaff machines that cannot be used because the embroidery software became obsolete. I recommend you just finish the quilt as is. Can Amara stitch over those designs? I don't think mine would like that--but it likes to look for reasons to challenge me. Perhaps try a hand at freestyle again?

    I think Ikat works well for bird panels. But I have also used leaf pantographs for bird panels if the birds are pictured in trees. Or I’ve used Modern Curves for an eagle in flight panel. Lots of choices!
