In this video I share with you how I used 3 conte pencils on bristol vellum paper and the struggles of choosing that paper. Completing these cowboy boots and hat was an interesting experience considering the circumstances. These methods gave the drawing a vintage look.

When I struggle on a piece, I walk away and come back another day. I always finish a piece even if I don’t like it. I find I learn from those struggles. I’m glad you didn’t give up Wendi, it turned out perfectly and I can see what you mean about the velvet finish on the hat.

Oh thanks so much for sharing. I have only had to restart a piece twice because the paper wasn’t working out but I am glad I did because the outcome was so much better. Sometimes you just gotta do it.

Great vid and beautiful artwork! Yep, they're "screetchy", at least the white one I had is before I got rid of it. I didn't like it and never found out what kind of pencil it is, no info anywhere and artists only making guesses.

Thank you. Glad it wasn’t just me. I will try them in different papers to see but they were a struggle.
