Hi thanks for the video I have a cannon r6 and I was going to purchase the rode boom pole and the rode ntg4 with the h5 and im confused on how I can capture the audio already synced with the video so I don't have to sync the audio files separately
First time I have been taught about the 'compression' aspect... Thank you...
King! This guy is king! No bullshit intro music-video bullshit. He goes straight to the point. Learn from him! Great content, great value. 10/10. Liked, subscribed and commented!
THIS IS ABSOLUTE BEST TUTORIAL ON THIS SUBJECT ON YOU TUBE, PERIOD. Many thanks!
Yo, this video really helped me understand a lot of things I was ignoring as a documentary filmmaker for years!! Really appreciate the amount of value in this under 10 minute video!
Wow, I had no idea about compression happening three times. Thanks for that. I'm loving my H6 I got for a song and break dance on CL yesterday.
An awesome video as per usual, Brian! 😆👍👍 As ever, I appreciate you for taking the time to highlight the best way to get highest quality audio possible, especially if you're wanting to use the baked in method as opposed to editing and syncing the audio & video in post-production. ☺👌 Personally, I'll always opt for the recording externally then syncing and editing in post 99.9% of the time, however, even with that being said, I'm sure there'll be occasions where the baked in method come come in handy. 🎧📷🎤 Cheers to you, my man! 🍻
Great video... some people just have the gift to make short easy understanding videos, you are one of them. Thanks
absolute genius workflow. superb!
Very well put together video, thanks for all the information. You made it easy to understand and gave me a better vision of what I need to do as a content creator.
Really really helpful video. Found this while looking for some alternatives to the XLR top handle for the fx30. Never thought about the additional compression with recording baked in audio. Thanks!
Excellent info. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Excellent video. Thanks you! Cheers from Italy
Thank you! How well explained everything.
Great video Brian. Hope you’re well, mate. Steve.
Very very good explained, thanks
Incredibly helpful. Thank you:
This was actually useful!
I match the meters with a 1khz tone from the H5. Also send the signal to the Camara But a nice beep tone from the H5 when it starts recording makes sync a breeze and use the high quality audio from the H5. Great video!
Super helpful!!! Thank you.
Lots of good knowledge nuggets here. Thank you!!

This isn't your day job? It is my day job and I still learned some great things from this video. Cheers!
Thank you for your work! best video!
Oh nice. This is going to be a helpful tool.
Wow, this video made my day.
Hi, great video! I'm working on this very thing right now. I'm a musician looking to make my own promo videos DIY style, and I just bought a Lumix G95 camera. I'm pairing that with the beastly Zoom H8 recorder which can record in multitrack with 6 XLR/1/4inch inputs.Very good info there about the baked in audio, and potential multiple layers of compression... thanks!
Bravo! Great video
Well explained.
As an audio engineer, I approve of this message. Well, all of them, but this one is good too. lol
Very good content... Thank you

Great video thanks
Thanks for the informative video.👍🍹
My bro very useful information. Now I need to buy a field recorder. I got the money to either buy the zoom h6 or h8 but still not sure which one to buy. Also I am thinking of getting the sennheiser mk600 and use it all together. Probably I will sync as it sounds so much better. But thank you! I learned now that audio also has in a way raw data just as video and that can be compressed and so on. Cheers great video! :)
Thank you so much!
Great job
Great video
This is similar to the irig pro set up im using to just being able to play live drums along to backing tracks. All I needed was just the splitter cable.
Dude! You should consider what Fuji does with their cameras and allows you to select line level or mic level for the microphone port. I select line level and use a very good external Sound Source and this is all KZread needs for the highest quality conversion
Great video! thank you I have a request, will you recommend the Zoom MSH-6 capsule for spoken words? or if you want to do a short video explaining? Thank you in advance.
thank you :)
Brilliant 👌
Yes
Hello! thanks for the video. Can I use the TRS cable to connect my Tascam directly to the camera, to speak through the Tascam so that the sound goes directly to the camera and records it there?
very good video. thanks. now I feel like I should use non syncing
Thanks for sharing this excellent video. How i can create a similar set up with out using an xlr cable and by using my rode wireless go 2 wireless microphone? Thanks
Baked-in actually sounds better, but it's just because you didn't adjust the raw wav volume to match the loudness of built in audio. The 1-stage audio data-compression trick is super cool, thanks!

yeah, well it sounds richer but actually the flatter signal of the uncompressed is the better signal because it can be worked better. But I hear you I like the baked in sound too, but his point was it was the raw file, that can then be produced in post to make you sound like god.
@katk7925

I agree! Seems like this parallels a jpgs vs raw discussion..and jpg DOES look better straight out of the camera ...but you can surpass that with raw
Thanks for the video. Helps a lot. I would like to modify this approach using the Zoom F3 and the line out connected to a Wireless GO II transmitter. Any suggestions?
Being using this line out method recording from my podmic through Zoom Podtrak P4 to my iPhone 11 Pro

I love ❤️ it
Good information..Would you please explain how to sync audio from the recorder to the audio from the camera when you have two seperate recordings - my recorder was connected to a PA system and the camera was too far away.. I have to sync them in FCPx & they always go out of sync...
4:00 - 4:39 That is music to my ears, that timeframe of video right there is EXACTLY what i wanted to goddamn hear 👂🤩🤩🤩 I have a Lumix G85 and i wanted to connect a Shore SM7B to it - and that part of this video nearly gave me a stiffy !! 💪🏼
I've searched and found this!!! The zoom is so expensive. Are there cheaper options :) thank you! Amazing video 💜💜💜

Question: what are your thoughts on recording music?
Great video...Thank you! Will this work for the following? I am trying to connect a Shure SCM-268 mixer to a Panasonic HC-V785K Camcorders’ Mic input jack. I don’t think an XLR to 3.5mm cable is a legit way to go but I would certainly appreciate your thoughts.
Can you do this with a Scarlett interface.
Do you have a set up for an on the go video shooter? I rig up my Sony a7iii with the rode video mic, I just ordered the zoom h6, I always keep a pair of good over-the-ear headphones on me. I also shoot bts on small sets as well and I dnt have boom man. I want better sound and do want sound to sound far away. So I would need help setting that up because I have a job in a few weeks. Thx ya for video and much love from GA
do you have a link to that external mic?
With this method can you use more than one mic at a time?
Hi dude , you demonstrated the two way system to grab audio straight in to the camera using the audio recorder and the cam, is there a three way to add a short gun mic like the Boya Bm 6060 to that connection ?
Is the 'Line Out' from the recorder a direct analogue signal from the mics ?
can you separrate the audio after using the backed in camera out put method to then upload as an audio podcast ? or is that not neccesary ? would I still be able to retrieve the audio only from the zoom h5 or h6 ?
I see guitars and an amp behind you. Maybe you can make a video like this one but recording loud amplifier Thanks
My Sony ZV cam isn’t picking up my mic’s audio. Right now I’m using wireless go II. Waiting for an aux cable to line out my hn8 zoom.
@Audio for Content Creators So does the H5 have phantom power? Also, if I am understanding you correctly, I want to use a Rode NTG4 shotgun mic for streaming, and after watching this it seems as if my audience won't hear any difference between the Rode and a $30 lav mic from Amazon? BTW I am on a gaming laptop and I could hear a huge difference between your audio A&B tests. The baked-in audio actually had more bass, but it sounded almost clipping and the highs were not as defined.
does this work with the h1/h1n zoom?
Thank you for your presentation. I would appreciate your feedback. I want to connect my GH-6 camera to an event sound board via an xlr (stereo) to my camera 3.5mm trs cable. would that work? Thank you for your response.
Is it possible to connect a H6 to a camera for video or even a phone and live stream? Thanks
Question. I got the Rode NTG5 and I have the Saramonic LC-XLR to lighting microphone adapter cable. If I was to get the H5 would I be able to connect the LC-XLR to the H5 right to my iPhone? Thank you in advance.
Hey I have a question about Zoom! I’m trying to create a professional but simple videoconferencing setup. My thought is an A6700 with 4K USB streaming with a H5 interface connecting to a MKE 600. So then everything just comes out of camera, no need for a USB audio interface, making it easy to move the setup as needed. I’m worried about the compression effects you mentioned at the end, will USB streaming from camera still compress to AAC?
Can I bake audio into camera and also record to my Zoom H8? In other words, have 2 audio recordings simultaneously?
Hello, in case you answer this, I’d be glad. Can I record from a shotgun mic to a digital recorder.
Is there something about syncing frames (like 4 frames) because the travel of the audio signal gets the sound very slightly behind the video (even connected)? (or is that something else?)
Is that a Gibson 1959 LP Cherry Sunburst?
hello, do you know if i can put a tentacle sync system on my Zoom H8?
Can I do this with JUST a mini xlr cable? My 3.5mm input doesn't work on my Mark iii 5D, and I want to be able to use a mic boom set up out in the field.
So what XLR mic can I use to just go XLR to 3.5mm TRS directly without any recorder or power supply?
How long does the battery last on the ZoomH5 using it as an XLR to Jack converter?
for some reason everything works but its only playing back in the left ear , i have the zoom h6 connecting with sony zv e 10 using xlr mic any tips
what about an XLR female to 3.5 male directly from boom to the camera, using NTG4+ cuz it has self phantom power.. would it be similar quality as the zoom method u showed? all the zoom is doing is giving phantom power right? the rode NTG4 + has a -10 db button option so I'm guessing is not optimal but it might work.? asking cuz I have to cover a small event with 3 handheld cameras and I'm already using a dedicated on camera mic on 2 of them but buying a new one just for this job is not worth it. or am I better off recording audio directly from the GH5, without anything attached? Thanks a lot
How would you accomplish this wirelessly? :)
I run a small non profit and we could use som consulting goodness on our audio. How can we contact you about rates?

I have a job in five days. I hope you see this. Would this video be applicable to a ZH1 and a Sony A7III???
If you loose quality by 3 compressions with the baked in sound, why not taking syncing all the time the sound of the camera with the H5 sound, in premiere pro it is a one min process???
Can I skip the recorder and plug the XLR mic to my camera using an adapter?
Do you shield the back of the Oktava to prevent from picking up stuff behind the mic? I just got the Oktava and picking up the A/C in the back. Any info is appreciated!

Yes
Hm, my Sony a7 III doesn’t compress audio, it puts PCM into the MP4 container. And I believe your a7 IV also doesn’t. External recording is theoretically better because of 24/32-bit float resolution, whether the camera’s audio is 16-bit.

Yes, these comments were in the context of consumer grade cameras, typically sub $1500 which is where most content creators live. You're right that my new Sony A7IV is PCM. It's beautiful.
The problem I’m having now is that the sound is passing through, but there’s a lot of noise. I mean a lot! It’s unusable audio. How do I fix?

anyone here know if there’s a audio workflow (i.e. order of operations) for fairlight? or audio in general? for example, like resolve's "image processing order of operations" for color? -colton 🤟🏼
For some reason my audio is low when I connect mic to zoom to camera. When I play it on computer is very low when I increase volume in edit it’s low how do you manage to get it loud plz help

You have to adjust the line out level on the zoom, and the input gain on the camera. You want the end result around -9 for a healthy signal. Then boost in post.
@nxet2669
Жыл бұрын
@@AudioforContentCreators do you have a video on it? Because I have the zoom h4n pro I don’t see the line out level and what number do I adjust it to because the rec level (I think that’s the line level) it only goes from 1-100 no negative. An I have the Sony a6400 only goes to 1-20 no negative number. I set the Sony to 1 like you said now it’s very low
How do you know all this?
