It was great, but I think a large part of it was their chemistry. They get along really well and are good at both light jabs and self-deprecating humor and aren't afraid to do either in front of each other on TV. You can't really replicate this with other people. It's hilarious in part because they get along so well and understand each others' humor. *Miles* above any interviews Conan's done in the past probably decade, though.

I’m two minutes in and this is EXACTLY the right vibe for McHale. I feel like I’m watching two masters trying to make each other laugh with insults. It’s not Don Rickles or Bob Newhart (whose Conan Needs a Friend podcast episode gave me the longest and biggest laugh of...tbh, almost all time), but this is a comedy death match and I’m here for it.

This is the buddy cop movie we didn't know we needed.

This interview left me feeling like I haven't checked out enough of Joel McHale's work. I started playing this while getting ready in the morning and was not ready for how hilarious it would be. Such an awesome episode. I've shared it and watched it a few times now. I love the look Joel gives to Conan after Andy asks "Does discharge count?" So perfect.

I swear, I have never seen anybody do improv comedy as well as Conan. He is a force, once in motion. He so fluidly picks up anything you put down and makes it into a bit, and I will always admire his ability to do that.

This format is perfect, Conan is truly the goat of talk show hosts

I think the no audience, the staff laughing, and the camera angles where it’s just one shot on each of their faces is what makes it one of the best lol

This is the funniest thing ive seen since joel was on conan the last time

This is possibly one of the funniest interviews I’ve ever witnessed! The comedic banter between these two was just short of perfection

when you realize every single line in this clip was improvised, on the spot, with each playing their role to mastery

This is the greatest interview. Conan is at the top of his game, even as he phases out the show. Nothing like it.

this is honestly one of the most hilarious, genuine and endearing interviews i have ever seen - because they obviously are real friends who can bust chops without power plays getting involved

He needs to keep doing these longer interviews with bits even after things get more normal. This and the Randall Park interview were amazing.

Hey, there are a few minutes here that didn’t air on TV...the whole section with Joel talking about the Conan bits he loved is extra. His amusement and description of the scene and Conan being genuinely pleased with it is the highlight of the interview! I’m glad I watched it here!

This was absolutely beautiful back and forth conversation. The dialogue was composed like a masterful symphony and flowed smoother than a vaseline river. Amazing performances by Conan, Joel and Andy respectively. Definitely earned the 4 out of 5 stars. Keep it up. 🤌🏻

The energy is just different (and weirder) when Conan is clearly "real life" (not just show-biz) friends with a guest. Joel is awesome.

If Conan's next show on HBO Max is just him and Andy, and his crews riffing & roasting with the guest like this, I'd be very happy. PS: 19:12 & 24:09 I might be wrong, but that's probably the loudest laugh from Andy that I've ever heard.
