If it gets to a consumer level then it will definitely have users who might need very basic explanations. These are all issues I have seen asked about on the Discord more than once. So that is where a lot of this came from!

Thanks for your video, do know of a way to clear the memory on the openpilot system without doing the upload via wifi each time. My upload speed is slow and takes away my ability to use my internet for other things.

when it asks to connect to commaconnect can i just skip and then i see it asked agin at the end can you just skip again. I do not have comma conect and dont want it

What if my USB-C charger is capable of 100W? Wouldn't that be enough to forego the USB-A adapter? Also, isn't USB-A usually limited to 5V@2.4A?

I had over 3K miles on my comma 2, I loved it. I removed it before i took my 2018 Sienna into the dealer for service. Reinstalled comma 2 after service, now all it does is boot loop. I tried factory reset and it hangs. I tried the PC-Android driver recommended in Discord to reflash, driver won't load. I contacted the factory, to see if they could factory reset, Zero response other than we do not fix community sourced software and the Hardware warranty is only 30 days. Any Ideas? Or do I own a Brick? Update: I put the comma 2 back in the car, It was boot lopping for half Hour Stopped for lunch restarted and Thank Heavens It back working. IDK How but I'm so happy its back.

What year? Make and model is your car? Seems like it has very good steering torque. My 2017 Prius I kept getting message openpilot alert “steering exceed…..” at sharp curb.

Dear Logan, thank you for the video. We just installed the Comma 2 on 2018 Toyota Camry LE model. We get to the screen shown at 6:14 in your video, but no further. No front camera video is shown and screen just times out after certain amount of time. Any thoughts?

Does the comma two work with the comma pedal? I am thinking about picking up one for the 2017 Corolla. I currently own a comma two.

Yes just need to buy a Y splitter for the RJ-45 connector!

Great video. You must do the unrecognised car solution. In the wiki step 4 is not user friendly and I'm sure you will do better explanation in video. I can offer my help. I see that this error is often raised in the discord. Again man thanks for the great contents

Yes, please someone help with car unrecognized problem. I have a Nissan leaf that used to work, now it stopped working and it's really annoying. Customer service is no help so I basically have a useless device until that fix is available.

It is issues like this that keep me from buying a comma. This plus apparently there isn’t a good, capable modern BEV in the compatible cars list. For now, I have a Tesla on order although I think Comma better suits my driving style.

Got my Comma2 about 2 weeks ago and love it. The only issue is that the screen is so dark I can't see it, even on a bright but cloudy day without my sunglasses on (polarized lens sunglasses wont's work at all). Any way to turn up the brightness of the screen? Thanks for the videos!

I'm having an issue with "can error" "check connection". On a 2023 Chevy bolt ev 2lt. Ive purchased two harness cables & still same issue so now I believe it's the black panda. I'm also getting an error on lower left corner of screen it's not saying "panda active" that I've seen in this KZread video. I got the panda from Mr. One store from China. I'm wondering if I need to reflash the Panda. I've been in contact with the store but you know there's a language barrier. Not really trying to pay $500 for a red panda, trying to save for a comma 3. Help!

How about when my toyota highlander shuts off openpilot when the speed drops below 25mph? And I have to drive it over 25mph before it can reengage? I wish I knew it couldn't do stop and go from zero. I bought this for Los Angels rush hour traffic!

Bryan A that is a limit of the highlands hardware. There are different levels of comparability between makes in models due to how the manufacturer designed them. Check on the discord if there are any solutions. Some vehicles can get around this with community hardware solutions.

@@LoganLeGrand how have you gotten around not hitting resume everytime your carolla stops at a light in an intersection? As far as I know you'd have to hit resume to continue when the light turns green.

@@bryana8383 There is an unsupported hardware by comma (supported only by the community) it is called the comma pedal which lets you drive all the way down to zero and stop & go. Join the comma discord, you can learn more about it.

My issue is it stating “no panda”. Checked connection which was fine. Rebooted, reinstalled etc all with fail

I have the same issue...my openpilot been sitting in my drawer...there is no support at all from the company. Only support is with the opepilot community. Barely had it for 2 years. They said I need a new MOBO.

Hey there! I have a 2021 Corolla and it is displaying "dashcam mode car unrecognized' message. I could probably figure out the programming needed, but its not an area of strength of mine, especially without video assist so I am considering returning it... any chance you could do a video on how to walk through this?

Yes actually! I contacted commaAI support, they sent the following link: github.com/commaai/openpilot/wiki/Update-Modify-openpilot#how-to-switch-to-master-ci-non-developers. This is the process I followed. Connect phone/open pilot to the same WiFi and ssh into it. (Go to your open pilot, settings, developer, enable ssh) I downloaded an app called terminus for sshing, did the free trial. KZread "terminus for open pilot" and a couple videos will come up on how to connect terminus to open pilot with ipaddress and what not. (I don't do software, coding, or any developing lol- so it may seem a little crazy but it's not bad just follow the directions!

I can't find a video anywhere of how to add fingerprints, anyone know where I can? My problem is that it won't recognize my 2018 honda civic.

Carson Gneiting check the comma discord. 2018 civic should be integrated into new VIN fingerprinting. Issue might be a unique country or trim level not already in the list of known vehicles.

Was driving and 30 minutes in I got calibration error which forced a vehicle restart to clear the problem. I checked the usb plug and reconnected it. Got the alert 5 minutes later and had to restart it again. Seems to work but I haven't drove it more than 30 minutes at a time. Any ideas on the calibration error?

I had to mount mine slightly lower, used the second provided mount. Also makes sure it's level

I have a Nissan leaf, but my Comma Two now says car unrecognized and goes to dash cam mode after having worked for a few months. I read something about modifying the fingerprint, I do not know how to do that. So now I'm left with a dash cam only and no driving. Customer support has not been helpful. Any tips?

You probably need community features enabled and fingerprint it. Leaf isn't an officially supported car from my understanding, so best place to get help would be on the discord in the nissan channel.

Have issue wit No panda, any one havet a clue what it could be?

Have you made a video about unrecognized car? My car is fully supported and should be plug and play. It isn't. 2022 Maverick Lariat Lux.

Harness should revert to factory LKAS and ACC (if applied). It may throw out errors but restarting the engine should fix it.

I'd love to have comma two openpilot maybe even invest some money in the project. I believe in you Although to actually buy the device i need you to add emergency braking and pedestrian monitoring. Man if im drving in a school zone or main road and some damAs* kid jumps infant my car. Dude you have to give me at least %20 to %50 more chance of to not squishe the kid, dog , car, bike ....

OpenPilot retains the factory AEB and pedestrian detection on any vehicle it's available on, although those should NOT be used as a substitute for controlling your vehicle yourself as they are only for emergencies.

@@LoganLeGrand Logan, correct me if I'm wrong, but on some supported vehicles (like my 2016 RAV4 Hybrid) I need to disconnect the DSU which handles AEB in order for Open Pilot to have longitudinal control. Is there a newer workaround for this that I'm not aware of?
