Very nice, thanks Logan! I guess lots of people, me included, decided to order Comma Two after watching your comparison video of Openpilot vs Autopilot. Autopilot should not just belong to owners of Tesla. It is a brilliant idea to develop a product like Comma Two for regular non-Tesla car owners. I am impressed by the capability of a simple front facing camera and Openpilot software for assisting driving. This is only to be even better after more users joining the club. The market for Comma Two is quite obvious and i think more and more people will start using the product very soon. Thanks again!

Thank you for the instruction. I'd recommend to connect everything before taping down the relay box to ensure you have plenty of room for those cables to connect/disconnect/loop. My 2017 Prius' camera enclosure is much slimmer than the Corolla shown in the video. All the cables, hardness and relay box barely fit into the enclosure with sharp bends on both USB and RJ45 connectors. I ended up leaving the relay box in the space without taping down. Again, thank you for the series of videos. Looking forward to the piloting experience!

It definitely took a bit of time to sort out the plastic and the cables in the camera assembly, but the rest of it was pretty easy. Thank you so much for this video. I just installed the Comma Two on my 2020 Prius Prime and I could not have done it without this guide. I had to attach the harness a little differently (opposite direction at an angle) but everything else translated perfectly. Keep up with good work!

To get the openpilot stop-start feature to work on my 2017 Toyota Highlander TSS 1.0. I had to take apart the glove compartment assembly and unplug the Toyota factory driver support ECU that controls the cruise control.

Holy cow it’s really that easy .Black Friday 2021 is only $999!! I am extremely interested I drive a 70 mile round-trip for work every day, almost all highway it would be really great to have this!

The wife has a 2017 Rav4. I installed an Eon gold and all the extras about 1.5 years ago and it worked perfectly on Arnes branch. Had to unhook the computer connector behind the glove box. Not too much of a hassle. I was left with my beautiful Volvo which of course doesn't work with OP. SO... Sold Volvo, bought a 2020Toyota Camry last night :-) (Its a nice cute car BUT it's no Volvo) QUESTION, do I still need to get behind the glove box (looks impossible) to unhook the computer? I still have the Eon Gold but complicating Comma 2 if it is an easier install. Many thanks.

@@Alif1089 There are still some bugs in the software for updating but the driving is overall, excellent. There was one point where it couldn't read the road bc the sun was directly in front of the camera.

I have no idea where you pluged the 2 cables that hang out into i wish you would use some flashlight because it was completely dark except for the first thing you pluged in

I just watched your install video and installed Comma 2 on my 2017 Lexus RX350. But it did not Calibrate when I turned on. I see the screen but there is no Green steering wheel or border. The Software installed is Openpilot, not dashcam. Please help.

Do you think that It could work on a car that hasn't adaptive Cruise control but has the radar for the Emergency breaking? To switch It on you actually Need only the Set Button of the normal Cruise, you don't Need to set the distance? Thank you

If you can find the service guide for your car, they typically say things like this. (Or they might just assume a regular mechanic can figure simple stuff out. It differs.)

Got a Corolla hatchback 2019 in copper oxide color. Thinking of getting one for it too. Right now, price is what holding me back. Maybe when I save enough money, I'll get one.

I couldn't verify that. You very well may run into issues. For example there are conflicts between just European Corolla models and US models. It would probably need it's own fingerprint at the very least. It's really just unknown until someone does it! You could be the first!

Which button on your wheel did you press to engage open pilot?

Great video! I don't even have a car. But I always wonder if you can replace the original stereo of the car, replace with a good Android Stereo car (8 cores, 6gb ram, etc) plug a good camera on the windshield and use open pilot, so you don't have that device blocking the windshield.

Thanks! I think for Comma and from a mass manufacturing standpoint and for the most universally applicable solution the single device with screen will be the best solution for them to make. However there are a lot of people in the community looking into separating the camera from the screen and using alternate hardware to run openpilot. Maybe I'll make a video discussing it in the future!

Shahar Shireto yes, the relay box allows for it to switch between the factory system and OpenPilot. If you just unplug your Comma Two before starting your vehicle it will switch to the factory cruise control, and as soon as you plug Comma two in it will be available, even mid drive! There is also an option in the menu to switch to stock system, you just have to restart the car for it to take effect and it will keep that setting until you change it back.

Hi, my openpilot is using the factory ACC. I do not see the triangle which indicated leading cars. how do I switch to Openpilot’s ACC? I have a 2020 honda civic Hatchback

Would the Install be the same with a 2019 Prius with tssp instead of 2.0 like your car has?

Felix Mizioznikov there are some differences but prius is still a good vehicle for OpenPilot! Check out the discord we have a Toyota specific channel with lots of information on the specifics!

Erich is still active on the comma discord but I don't know if he is still making them or not. Calibration only needs to happen the first time it's set up and then it will do a continuous calibration as you drive, so it's always updating but just needs an initial calibration period when starting from scratch.

@@LoganLeGrand Thanks again! My wife and I have two cars that are both listed as supported. So I figure if I buy two harnesses I can move the hardware it back and fourth between cars. Do you think that would be a problem? (My wife will not want to use it. She refuses to even use cruise control.)

Would it be better to line up the camera on the comma2 with the windshield stock camera. To cut down on the offset openpilot has to work with.

Steven Long it’s trained with the offset position so it’s the best place for it.

Rick Funk I left it out of my video but Toyota Lexus are all the same. Honda has a couple different connectors depending on car/year. Comma sells just the wire connectors for each car on their shop. You could buy multiple harness kits and then just transfer the Comma Two between cars. Just make sure you redo calibration when switching cars.

importon it’s designed for permanent install. I intend to do a battery drain test as well just to show how much it actually influences battery life. It also shuts off completely after 3 days of not driving.

This is nice and something I will consider when I get a new RAV4. But this is my question. Do you have to place the Comma Two at the center of the care front screen? I Use dash cam in my vehicle and I like them to be centered. so if the comma Two does not have to be centered on the vehicle front screen that will be a nice unite to ass the my next new vehicle.

That is; do you have to install the Comma-2 at the center of the car front screen? yes it nice to know that it record your driving, but I use dedicated Dash Cam in my vehicle with lots of features that this unit will never have.

Hi, thanks for the video. I just received my Comma Two and tested in the highway. My car is 2018 Toyota Camry SE. I found that Openpilot can not do “stop-and-go” in my car. It disengaged when the speed dropped down every time in the traffic. Any idea why? Thanks!

Feng Chen thats how it is for the SE and LE model. To get openpilot in 0 mph you need the Camry XSE or XLE model. This one only goes down to 20 mph and then disengages.

Are you still happy with your mounting location? IS it possible that you could take measurements or do a pdf template I could print?

Yeah It works well for me. Just center of windshield and low enough to be able to remove it and the cover for the factory camera. If it's level and center it will work well. The model is pretty robust and can handle a bit of deviation in mounting location.

Will this also work for the European version of the corolla touring sport hybrid 2019 estate model?

My comma 2 is coming in a few weeks. Do you think it is better to line up the center on the windshield based on where the camera is seeing or based on the hardware unit? Or does it matter?

I noticed on the video you attached the mount to the windshield and then used it right away. Comma says you're supposed to let the mount "sticky" cure for 48 hours. What say you?

Your mileage may vary. Never had an issue with mount staying attached personally but I make sure and clean everything well and stick it firmly. Might be smart to remove the device for the first few days of use while parked if it is going to be left out in the heat, or give it some gentle pushes a few times after mounting to make sure it’s staying secure.

I would love to get one for my 2019 VW Atlas but I think it is not compatible

I think you are misunderstanding. This is so that comma.ai can say, "we're just selling dash cams, people are installing their own software". (Even though it's from their repo.) A bit of CYA from comma.ai.

I do. I have a splitter for the OBD-II port so the Comma Power is hidden, then I just remove the Comma Two and the USB cable. Leave it looking factory aside from the mount on the windshield! It's so easy to do and better safe than sorry.

Does this work on other cars besides Hondas?

hmm but why comma don't use wifi connection with the obd2 ? less cables .. okay maybe a delay, interference's... but I think 5Ghz is pretty good

Alan Santos one advantage is that some users have custom pedals to assist in OpenPilot functionality and they also can be connected with a splitter on the RJ45 cable. But maybe a Bluetooth solution would be possible in the future! I don’t think that particular bus needs a fast connection, but cost would probably be the biggest factor.

Dude, NEVER run a cable down the weather stripping as the cable could pinch when the door shuts, you should have removed the moulding on the pillar and ran it down there.

Me too! My Corolla comes with electrochromic mirror unlike Logan's. It slides down but do not drop.

The fact that this only requires a chip should be a HUGE concern as to what that signifies. The functionality is already built-in...you just need a chip to utilize it...

Let's see....it's been over a year.....the unit installed may have already failed. Mine did after 14 months. YMMV. Out of warranty....$500 to trade in on a new head with no warranty or buy a new one for $1200. My decision was I have better things to spend that kind of money on. So my dearly departed Comma Two sits in a drawer broken.....it overheated and the fan stopped working. I was told by them that it was a UNO board that failed....they must know about that as they were very sure that was what it was. Was it great when it worked? Yep. Made long highway drives easy. It was awesome.....but now it is broken....and just a memory. Oh well...live and learn.

The car doesn't have the proper hardware to be an ACTUAL autonomous self driving vehicle. It simply doesn't.
