@@goldcoasttime it’s private, and afaik they have more than enough investment already, I doubt George will ever make it go public, he’s talked about it in some live streams.

I got a comma 2 because you of your videos I'm loving it, it's a must add on if you have a 30 minute commute

Personally, I hope that George makes a huge difference in the world....Mine is on order and I’m about to explode, I can’t wait till it gets here. As it happens, I was in the market for a new car, and the Comma is what made my decision for me. BTW, thank you for sharing this history.... (and of course we all want to thank the US Government for making things WORSE, as usual). The government, filled with “the department(s) that make you sad.”

Same here comma 2 made me buy a Corolla! Not pushing that model at all but it certainly helped my decision. Best decision I've made in a long time.

I think I watched George live stream about 8hrs when he was starting his concept of generating the idea from a picture. Logan 3yrs on from this video and I am still searching to understand how to get involved. Excellent videos, especially "New Car Harness Kit Breakdown" - through your videos the system is starting to make sense. Many thanks, I think I have my harness wiring worked out - hoping one of the 40 current permutations matches my needs so I can buy it pre-made. This product needs someone who is not a geek to explain it from a super basic level. I think I might be that person - not a programmer . When I get one I will go through every single step to getting it to work on my unsupported MG4 so maybe others can follow. Thanks again!

Props to George Holtz. Got a 2018 Corolla and a Comma 2. It's not perfect but being alpha stuff it's pretty amazing. Drove around about an hr yesterday on windy highways with plenty of crests and hills. Had to guide the steering a bit round some of the slightly tighter corners so it wouldn't go over the yellow line, but otherwise it did brilliant. Looking forward to the 50 miles to work tomorrow morning.

I wouldn't quote Elizabeth Holmes (previously of Theranos). That's like starting a mutual fund and quoting Bernie Madoff.

Just ordered mine tonight. I had seen the original video back in 2016 had the computer in the trunk. It looked interesting using Open CV but too far from a plug in retrofit. I'm ecstatic to find in April 2021 its come so far. Your videos are very good. I'm sold.

I think they are pretty on track, I will feel a lot better if they can get better hardware (not just an android phone with 3D printed case, consider multi camera, and better OEM integration) with better human factors design.

OSMADO Yes just need a Y splitter for the RJ45 to connect at the Comma Power under your dash.

@@Salehyya Check for official support. If supported it won't throw any errors as long as you don't power up the car while having things disconnected. The comma harness is totally passive and won't effect the stock system.

Just installed comma.ai 8.5 in my 17 CRV. At 77 years of age no tech purchase has excited me more. Still plan to pay full attention to my driving but suspect the auto pilot adds a safety factor to my drives.

Yes 0.7.3 is in release so that's the current build! Might do a "commute" video where I show how often I use OpenPilot on my daily drives.

I have for some time been trying to get more technical information about this product because I would really like to have one. I have found the Discord site pretty much useless. I was actually quite surprised that they're using this because I think this site was designed for gaming. I have really enjoyed your videos and maybe someday I will be able to find out the answers to my questions. Thanks for doing the videos and I am subscribed so I hope to see more.

What sort of information are you after? I would say that Discord is quite fitting considering that the company and the community originated around hacker mindset. But I agree, it doesn't benefit the entry user the way it is needed.

@@kawo666 I would like to know if this would work on my 2016 Lincoln MKZ. I got one reply to this question that Ford has or may have a “time out” issue. It was a terse reply such that I could not tell if Ford may have this issue or does have this issue. I do not know what kind of time out they were referring to as there are many different ones in sports, discipline, etc. If it refers to a computer program then I believe it means the computer stops if it doesn’t get an input in a certain time period which I don’t see why an automobile would do when it is operating. I don’t know about game hacking but I think computer hacking originally started with amateur programmers taking commercial software and “hacking” off code to write their own for their own use. I think this device needs to go beyond gaming at this point but I can understand why they want to limit it to a set group of people. Unfortunately for me this is something I could use but it remains unavailable. I have even considered buying another car to be able to use this device in but I don’t want to spend another $50+K if there is no technical assistance available. Thank you for your comment!

@@nerdrocklives Hmmm E. Musk might end up where E. Holmes is in few years. Tesla level 5 self driving that Musk has been touting and selling for few years is a scam just like Holmes blood testing machine. Full self driving auto pilot critics have been 100% correct ever since Musk announced Autopilot FSD was just around the corner in 2016!

@@springer-qb4dv They only quite recently started to produce their own AI SoC, so I wouldn't dismiss what Tesla will be capable of in near future with self-driving. Also, my understanding is that they changed the approach and now generate and label 3d space, rather than 2d images. That may actually be a game changer. From what it looks, Tesla is currently the most advanced player within self-driving field.
