Gets me in trouble with the lady but she gets over it and is actually getting into guns. I feel bad for folks in other countries who don’t have access or the ability to enjoy firearms and a good day of lead therapy!

Yeah it looks like such a fun hobby but I could maybe own 5 out of 100s of guns Hickok45 has featured on his channel legally in my country, if I felt like jumping through months of paperwork, checks, safe installation, police visit, registration etc. It's not worth it to own a heavily neutered firearm. Disappointed as I have always had a fascination with guns. At least I haveHickok45 to watch.

I was in the Canadian Armed Forces at the time we made the transition from the FN C1A1 (SLR) to the Diemaco C7 (Canadian built AR-15) assault rifle. After going from a 7.62x51 to 5.56x45 in what seemed like a plastic toy, I was VERY negative about the decision. And then I fired it! (High velocity, accuracy with low recoil... and so much lighter) And three years later, I realised that the damn thing just didn't fail. In spite of sand, mud, dirt and ice. Very reliable. Yeah, this is was a wise decision. Outstanding rifle.

In reality, as you know, the enclosed action of the m16 won't jam. Unless you intentionally try, it's simply won't. Canada made the right decision to adopt the the c7 incarnation of the m16.

In 1984, I was firing the M16A1, and the M1911A1, but for some reason, no bayonet and had to buy my own K-BAR. Took me until 2017 to acquire a Colt AR15A4, which brings back lots of memories.. It is accompanied by a Colt Commander, and an Ontario OKC 3S bayonet, which oddly enough, fits the government Mini-14. Had to become a Buds Team member to get one of these, as they kept selling out. These are great guns, and just remember, every time an AR-15 is fired, a liberal cries "Ban assault weapons now!"

Funny thing is that this old rifle from 1984 without all the modern gimmicks, rails, cut down barrels etc. is actually a lot more powerful and if so wanted more leathal of a weapon. Like already mentioned in the comments earlier the 5.56x45 and .223 rem were designed to be shot out of at least 20" barrels to be able to gain the proper muzzle velocity to carry the light, low BC bullet out to a reasonable distance and really tear some flesh apart on impact. With proper hot loads this old thing puts out a significant amount more wallop @200yds and flatter trajectory than an M4 or any similar carbine length AR. Those are nice and handy but this is the real thing in what comes to 5.56 weapons.

I was trained to shoot using the venerable M-16 A1 in Army basic training. Of course it was semi and full auto, unlike the current 3 round burst limited weapons. Shooting the A1 on full auto was a blast and at night the gas tube would glow cherry red. That hole on top of the carry handle was for the installation of a clip on brass deflector for left handed shooters, a little trivia. I have a standard AR-15 A2 similar to yours but it has all the A2 modifications (namely a built in brass deflector). I learn a great deal from your channel, so keep them coming because I know you will give an unbiased assessment. Thanks for sharing your experience with all of us who love to shoot.

You had mentioned transition. I bought a Glock 19 Gen 3 at my local gunshop and what caught my eye was that it came in a Tupperware style case and it was a two pin. I learned that Glock made the 2 pin for a few months until they went to 3 pin because of the 40 S&W round.

What a beautiful rifle, the icon that started it all. Great to see you shooting it makes me drool with envy. Funny to actually hear the buffer spring rattling around a bit in the buffer tube with every shot.

He passed in 2001 at a young age so I inherited his little collection.I shoot them on occassion but will never modify them. I have newer versions for that. Still keep our tradition of shooting on New Years Day no matter how cold. 2018 was brutally cold but we layered up and had a blast. I really enjoyed this video. People forget that 5.56 is truly effective from these rifles. M193 and M855 cause impressive terminal wounds when fired from 20" barrels. Use of the M4 carbine was extremely detrimental to the effectiveness of 5.56 in the middle East.

Parker Hart That is what the Vltor A5 kit essentially is. And there was a pretty big outcry by soldiers wanting their A4s back. Pretty much all the bad press about 5.56 is a product of the M4carbine. I'm not saying The M4 is bad, they just failed to provide optimized ammo for the M4 when it was adopted.

Will Terry This is true, however a day late and a dollar short. All they needed to do was change the projectile. That's it. Any good quality Bonded solid base projectile would have sufficed. Special operations forces already had the "optimized brown tip" which is basically an M262 round topped with a 70gr Barnes triple shock projectile. VERY effective out of SBR's for sure. And not certain but I believe there was a 50gr tsx load aswell that was the cream of the crop in terminal performance out of MK18's. In essence it all boiled down to politics and money that our soldiers lost lives for. All the variants noted above where astronomically cost effective solutions in comparison to the M855A1.

My father was a sharpshooter and always preferred open sights over scopes so I had an affinity for military firearms at a very early age and just loved taking them apart and rebuilding some of the old surplus rifles we had around the house. Regardless of political persuasion, though, I think virtually all firearms enthusiasts would encourage anybody who cherishes the Bill of Rights to try his or her very best NOT to vote for gun banners.
