Honestly a character that had so much more potential and even this way we can agree he was more likeable. I was young when I watched the movie, but I remember feeling like oh shit is it bad that I kind of rooted for the bad guy instead of the blue aliens? At the time my reasoning was because the main characters became boring to me and I felt like they weren’t relatable to me in anyway. They lived in a strict tribe where soul mates are chosen by authorities rather than the individuals, no one is really different or stands out they all just follow the leader and love the tree. This movie made me want to see films where the good guys wouldn’t make some clear “with almost no (good guy)casualties” victory over the super evil bad guys.

This guy was, without a doubt, my favorite part of the whole movie. I don't even think of him as a villain, since a lot of the time it looks like he just wants to keep his men alive. In any other movie, he would have made one hell of a protagonist! May he return in the sequel, where I can only assume he will take on yet another alien twice his size wielding a gigantic knife. You may be wondering which of them will be using the knife. The answer is, of course, "yes."

Quaritch is the true protagonist of Avatar.
To any RDA comrades: You don't have to deal with the movie's other crap to get the full, epic RDA experience. The Avatar game is better. As long as you stick to the RDA campaign, the game is freakin' awesome. @dsd313 Also, the vast majority, if not all, of the unobtanium deposit is located directly beneath the tree, so we just can't "dig around it", we need the tree out, or no unobtanium deposit. Even if we did dig around the tree, we'd probably weaken the massive tree's foundation so much that it would probably collapse in on itself anyway.

great viral didn't know it existed til recently
@Hawkds21 We offered the Na'vi friendship, technology, the means of greatly improving their daily lives. And they spat in our face. We came to blows purely to defend ourselves. If the Na'vi had just cooperated in the first place, everyone would be happy. But this is a Hollywood flick. We can't have that, can we?

And all bad humans have to die!
@bancoran Your recommendation was taken, and so "Beyond Glory" was read. Much profit was made. All that can be said in regards to that epic story is "The Blood of Martyrs is the seed of the Imperium".
@PaxImperious Exactly. Solar panels are key. And sewage management is also important. I'm no green fanatic myself, but I try and stay aware of the fact that we can't just keep using coal and oil forever. One day, as you said, solar panels may have to happen.
@JeanLucCaptain
Жыл бұрын
It’s a lot more important then just solar panels. Which need a ton of water for cooling.
@HKOverlord117 Now that you mention it, it'd be quite interesting to see what Uwe Boll can do with the avatar movies. I'd like to see how far he can bring down this terrible treehugger-friendly franchise.
@bancoran And we'll be using that Keebler tree as toothpicks and firewood. The perfect clean-burning source for a decent barbeque! Adds a lovely honey-scented aroma to your thanator ribs.
@bancoran I forget the name of the guy, but he worked on Star Wars 4 and 5, and he said this: In the first act, you put your hero up a tree. In the second act, you set the tree on fire. In the third act, you get your hero down from the tree. What about cyborg quaritch clones? :o
@JeanLucCaptain

Miles QUARRITCH as General Grevious. Ah Jake Sully, I ASSUMED A TRAITOR OF YOUR REPUTATION WOULD BE…TALLER?
@bancoran Good question. Well, um, one thing would be making one of the antagonists a renegade Na'vi, some psycho warlord, just to defy the "Na'vi good, humans bad!" thing. Also, if another alien race came to Pandora instead of the clichéd "The humans come back" plot. An alien race like the Prawns from District 9,maybe?
Quaritch is teaching you how to become RDA.
this guy looks more like bryan fury from tekken
The navies are goodies
@bancoran You read quite a few RDA fanfics. Have you played the movie game (for 360 & PS3, not Wii)? It's awesome in that it lets you stick with the RDA Heroes instead of forcing you to become glowing catshit for the rest of the game. It also depicts the RDA in a more positive light, as it should be. If playing as RDA, there's guns, mechs, helicopters, and explosives galore; plus you get to kill furries & traitors for the rest of the game! It is everything the movie could've been- PURE WIN.
@dsd313 In contrast, the questionable, but much cheaper and more efficient alternative: Burn the tree to ash, and clear out any bits that obscure the unobtanium site. Questionable, but it'll be MUCH quicker and cheaper than moving a whole tree that's much larger than most buildings on Earth, digging a big hole on a negotiated spot (there's the already present negotiation problems too), and carefully placing it there. Finally, logistics and coordination for the other plan would be CHAOTIC!!!
@LeonSKennedyUSA Yes. Col. Quaritch unnofficial motto. "Keep your friends Close, your enemies Closer"
Who Loves him in Avatar 2?
@CaptKennedyUSMC We'll be back in action with nukes, orbital cannons, heavy combat vehicles, cruise missiles, directed-energy weapons, fighter jets, and perhaps even Megazords, with thousands upon thousands of highly-trained men and women to match. The blues, their mommy, and her little forest friends don't stand a chance. Pandora will be a new Mars once we've stripped the moon of every last nanogram of its unobtanium and destroyed every last molecule of its life.
Avatar 2: The Colonel Strikes Back
@PaxImperious One more thing: Pardon me for these questions here, but when you see the words "Equestrian" and "Celestia" do you know what these terms relate to? Now, what do you think Quaritch would do if he and the RDA encountered these sentient creatures? Quaritch is a ruthless badass, but I know there is honor in him. Hopefully he wouldn't do to them like he did to the blues (the blues deserve every bit of their impending extinction, of course).
29 people heard Quaritch's "Mask on."
Commander Taylor high as fuck,think he's on other planets
@bancoran You got that right.
I'm still perplexed as to why the SecOps didn't simply bomb the Tree of Souls with something like a supersonic Rockwell B-1 Lancer. There would be no casualties, the movie would be at least sixty minutes shorter, and everyone who hoped for a "good" ending and cheered on the blue kitty-apes would tearfully leave the theater with tail firmly betwixt legs, while those of us who cheered on the true heroes would give a raucous standing ovation, with a resounding "OO-RAH!".
@JeanLucCaptain
Жыл бұрын
Or use a satellite weapon.
@pinheadman665 Of course there'll be people like Parker in the RDA. There's greedy people and there always will be, but I'm certain there's also people who know these resources are being shipped back to Earth for a good reason aside from the obvious profit factor.
böse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! miles quirich
If Pandora was real and we, humanity, were actually engaged in a war against Eywa and the cat-chimps, we would have plowed clean through 'em with nary a casualty, because that softy deus ex machina plot armor fairy-tale bull doesn't fly IRL. Let Eywa send all the titanotheres, thanators, and Great Leonopteryxes she can manifest. Nothing a few Little Boys can't handle. And before you know it, it's an all-you-can-eat buffet of unobtanium for all the men, women, boys, and girls back home.
@PaxImperious I'm talking about people like Parker, not the random business man. I don't remember him caring much about humanity's survival. He seemed obsessed with money. The actor pretty much described his character as a greedy guy.
@bancoran Was't Gundam after Evangelion?
Colonel Quaritch and Commander Shepard (from the Mass Effect series); those two right there would make an unstoppable duo!!! "I'm Commander Shepard, and this is my favorite partner for saving the galaxy."
Quaritch for a squadmate in Mass Effect 3!!! Eh, not likely, but it'd be awesome to see him kicking some Reaper ass alongside Shepard.
@MrLegoMaster1000 Yes. Star Wars, Killzone, Warhammer 40k, Metroid, Star Fox...how amusing it would be to see the big 'n' mighty Eywa mortified by our favorite androgynous toad, Slippy, or to see Samus Aran gut a bunch of those ugly rhino...things. Or better yet, just have the Death Star blast the goddamn moon into space-dust. Fly in, extract the unobtanium from Pandora's smouldering carcass, Bob's your uncle.
ラングじいちゃんかわいい好き
@bancoran Hell, if Quaritch had a mind to go Exterminatus on the blues, he wouldn't even need to launch a direct assault on that bigass tree of theirs. All he'd need is to launch canisters of VX nerve gas instead of the tear gas used in the movie, then follow it up with the incendiaries to burn any that are still alive. That VX is some really nasty stuff (death in seconds), but when used against furry xenos instead of humans, massive lulz ensues.
This should be a recruiting tool for joining the Marines if only it weren't a movie.
@mr.brenman2132
6 ай бұрын
Now they put transgenders in the ads for the marines.
@MissDelanne lool thx 4 heads up i did not know about that :D now its even funnier
@USMCCptKennedy It also seems like those two wouldn't get along if they were ever partnered. Venter just seems like a brute and a bully, but Quaritch has a code of honor, seeing as he at least tried to get the blues to get out of the tree before he saw those fugly furries attempt to execute the avatars and actually saved the scientist avatars from the blues (which is another example of furries being the true Villains in Avatar).
@inashke Well they were affected by tear gas in the movie. Heck, they couldn't even stand it once the gas got deployed. So it's been shown that some chemicals that have adverse effects on can mess them up as well. And tear gas is just for small-time riot control. We have wayyy more to choose from.
@pinheadman665 The humans in D9 were evil. They forced the prawns in slums, dissected them, and wanted nothing but weapons. The RDA were on Pandora for resources (a superconductor) to fuel space exploration and eventually help save Earth via space colonization. Unlike D9, the RDA had a noble goal only diluted by realistic issues of economics, Darwinism, and their role as a big corporation. They aren't evil, but more like anti-heroes in that they do what's necessary to help.
@pinheadman665 And regarding the environmental stance: I'm no go-green fanatic, but think of me more as a moderate. I'm aware of our impact and that we need to reduce pollution, but mostly through tech methods like solar panels, arcologies, and better sewage management.
