    No. This is the dumbest thing they've ever done. To the point that I'm so frustrated that I would rather pirate the show than spend another dollar on netflix and their offense ways of milking people out of every dollar they can in these financially difficult times

    I love me some Cobra Kai. Doesn't bother me one bit that it's broken up into 3 parts. I'll just rewatch those episodes like 36 times in anticipation of the next batch. I'm a fool like that.

    I would obviously prefer that they release all 15 episodes of Cobra Kai season 6 at once. However, the biggest reason I'm not upset with their schedule of releasing part one in July, part two in November, and part three in 2025 is that I didn't expect to receive season 6 until around Christmas of this year. This means that by the time Christmas arrives, I will have already watched 10 whole episodes, which will be enough to satisfy me until part three arrives a few months later. If you think the 4-month gap between part one and part two is long, consider that season 5 was released way back on September 9, 2022. That's a significant wait! In comparison, 4 months will seem like a breeze.

    I gotta disagree with John. I prefer the binge model. I'm well aware that it's over and done with, but I think that lends itself better to shows with hour long episodes. Feels more like an event. I just finished Bad Batch, and I would have rather had it all up front because the episodes were about 30 min each. Same with the Marvel shows. This is worse because this takes it to the next level. It's really lame to stretch out the ending for the sake of quarterly earnings calls.

    Same. I'm skipping X-Men 97 until all episodes are out and I'm already having the show spoiled for me. Until the whole season is out, I'm binging 92. These streaming services aren't public tv. They have no time slots to need to fit into.

    Like John said though, if the data shows having a weekly release increases viewers and subscriptions then they'll do that. It's a win-win for them. Because those who want to binge will likely just wait but the buzz and conversation will continue to keep people engaged until folks binge. But by waiting, there will potentially be a case of some FOMO.

    For the viewer, yes. But as a business decision, this is a good strategy for Netflix. This way, you can't just pay for a month of Netflix and watch the whole series, then cancel your subscription.

    I churn Netflix because it's so expensive. I cancelled in January 2023 and haven't resubscribed since there hasn't been anything worth paying for. I'm going to subscribe in July and cancel in August, Subscribe in November and cancel in December, and subscribe whichever month the final episodes drop and then cancel the following month. Having a gap of a few months in between each part will give me some time to save up subscription money.

    I think that because they upped the episode count for the final season, they split the show into several parts to allow space for the production and editing of the final batch of episodes. Similar to how cable shows that go on for a year take several breaks throughout the season

  • @ryhanon7
    @ryhanon720 күн бұрын

    I don't mind when a show drops all the episodes at once or only drops one episode a week - I think both approaches have their pros and cons. But splitting a season into "parts" like this is easily the worst of both worlds.

  • @tonyilias2561

    John, it doesn't matter how they release it because the show has been amazing every season. We had to wait almost 2 years for Season 3 and now almost 2 years for this final season because of the strikes. All that matters is that the quality is still there. 4 months to wait in between parts is not that long or detrimental. It actually benefits the show in the long run. Attack on Titan made fans wait an entire year for more parts to its final season which definitely annoyed some people, but it was worth it because the quality of the show was still amazing and it further solidified the show as 1 of the best series of all time

    Remember when a season of television would drop at once or it was a consistent weekly basis? And it was an actual season, like 20+ 20 min episodes or 12 hour long episodes? Not 10 episodes around 20-30 mins? Why are we trying to normalize mid-season breaks? Are we going to get months in between episodes next? I hate what streaming is doing to television. It’s like they’re creating content just to advertise it.

    John you forgot before Stranger Things that the series Ozark did it first with their final season breaking it up into 2 part. The reason with the three-part finale I think it's going to be epic and the planning something big or having a huge guest star that we don't know about. Plus you got to understand that with the stretch of seasons all the actors especially the younger ones have other projects during that time.

    This 3 part extra episode thing they're doing feels like a very transparent "oops" moment for them. Season 5 completely jumped the gun and wrapped up too much. It didn't feel like a penultimate chapter before a finale. It felt more like a premature finale. The heroes should be at their lowest point. Cobra Kai should be at the top of its game. It should feel like "Man, how are they going to make this right?" Instead (SPOILERS): Cobra Kai is all but defunct, Silver is in prison, Miyagi-Fang is stronger than ever, and Kreese is a fugitive (do the writers actually think Kreese is still threatening? He's a wanted man; he can't walk in front of a traffic camera without being hunted down and arrested). That leaves Kim Da-Eun as the only villain who isn't a fugitive. But she's pretty much on her own. Her status wasn't even clear at the end of Season 5. She kind of disappeared. Sure, she's rich and has a lot of resources, but who is Kim to most of these kids? She had storylines with Tori but I don't think half of the Miyagi-Fangs even met Kim. The trailer did the predictable thing and had Kreese team up with Kim. I mean yeah, what else can you do at this point? But Kreese is a fugitive now so it comes off more silly than intimidating or exciting. They're clearly building up to the Sekai Taikai - which would have been exciting, back when we had POV characters on both sides. But now all of the teens are in Miyagi Fang. So the plot of Season 6 is going to be Kreese and Kim...what? Recruiting a bunch of new teen-bullies for the hero kids to fight against? Part of what made the Season 4 finale so exciting was that we knew and were invested in numerous characters on both sides. Each pair up was between two characters who had a history, so it meant something. If you just have the good kids fight against a bunch of nameless faceless new bad kids, it won't hit as hard (no pun intended). The tournaments are a boiling point for existing Beef. But going into Season 6, there's barely any Beef left, at least between dojos. Season 6 is going to have to spend a lot of time inventing new antagonists and new connections for us to be invested in. No wonder they've extended it to 15 episodes. They need the extra time to set new things up because of how much Season 5 prematurely wrapped up.

    It's fine with me. It'll be just like the old days when you'd watch the season finale of a show one day and then have to wait months before the first episode of the new season. If you're a Millennial or older you should be used to this. It's better than have to wait a whole year for the next season.
