Dont forget everyone. Ease into it. Take your time and learn the exercises and save the really hard efforts for later on when you progressive overload. Its should be months before you even think about training to failure.

A good option for squats when you can’t lift the bar is to use a PVC pipe (many commercial gyms have them for warmup exercises) it will help keep the arms up and in the correct position without adding significant weight. Also easy to load onto the back even outside a rack.

I'm not Greg's biggest fan but this video really warmed me up to him. I like his approach to teaching someone who's completely new to the discipline. Learn the basics, learn them with good form and the fancier shenanigans will eventually come into play as you learn. No need to try to hit PRs or even lift too heavy. Lots of love for you, Brent! Your transformation is insane and can't wait to see what's in store for you in the future. Keep killing it (:

Absolutely. I have massive respect for fitness influencers who worked really hard to get their perfect body, but at the same time they are also pretty demoralising, because they set the bar too high. The first clip I saw from Brently was when he showed that he can now stand up without hands and can dangle for a couple of seconds and he was so happy about it and it was such an inspiration. Now I started to hit the gym again myself, but now I don't look in the mirror an get frustrated because I'm still so far off a great body like I did in the past, I look in the mirror and I'm happy about every small progress I made.

Exactly. If anything, the people giving the 500lbs dude glances in the gym are actually probably thinking things along the lines of praise and "Holy shit, if this guy can do it, then so can I!" I've never once thought poorly of anyone trying their best in the gym. I'll cringe at bad form, but never at bad physiques, and you call always improve your form. We're all in there to make progress, and when we see people starting from truly challenging places, I can only be inspired. I may be fitter than Brently here by a wide margin (after lifting for like a decade), but he's providing me a TON of inspiration. I know how much harder it is to start without properly formed habits and diet, and I can't imagine how much more difficult my fitness journey would have been starting from 500lbs instead of a super skinny 6' 3" 145 lbs. I was super embarrassed starting to lift as a hyper-skinny dude whose heart could always be observed beating because I was full skeletor mode, but I knew the only way to achieve the goals I desired was to keep at it. Fingers crossed for Brently to make it, and for the rest of us too! Keep at it everyone! Also +1 respect for a Zoro icon good sir. Fit weebs are the best weebs. Gotta have that opinion after reading all of One Piece 3 times XD.

Yep, coach Greg just turns it up to 11 when doing his vids, but in most KZreadr Collabs, you can see that its just a character for his content, as when he's with people he's very calm, explains workouts very thoroughly, and has almost no ego. He literally has "coach" vibes.

You killed it, man! Did much better than I did my first time in a commercial gym. Your form is in point, such a good base for your journey. The worst thing that could happen is an injury that derails your consistency, but the form is how you mitigate that risk. been following this journey from nearly the begining now and you keep getting better each video i love the progress and you found urself a good partner helping you out in a commercial gym GO GO BRENTLY
Youre an insliration not only as gym motivation but as a human being. The pure wholesomeness in this video made my day. Keep grinding and hopefully well see u on stage some time in the future
Your attitude in general is a fucking inspiration. Keep that same energy King 👑
LET'S GO YOU MET COACH GREG, omg I'm so proud of you for showing up to a gym for the first time, you're progress is amazing and very admirable! I hope to see you get fit and never give up!!! You're awesome and so inspirational! 🔥 😎
You have one of the most wholesome and constructive viewpoints on Fitness I have ever seen. Thank you for doing what you do and being who you are. You are a gem and fitness community like none other.
Here with ya homie, I'm gonna follow you through this thing man. You aren't alone, you have 60k people with ya. Keep going, don't give up. Get up one more time than you fall down and we will all be cheering you on.
Keep it up king! We're all rooting for your weight loss journey. You're such an inspiration to people like me.
Good job man! Its eemed like you were super nervous, but you pushed through and had a very successful session. Keep up the good work man!! You'll get the hang of it, just remember.... FORM is way more important than increasing the weight or increasing the reps etc, poor form will hinder your progress. It's always great to see people wanting and actually putting effort into bettering themselves. I look forward to seeing your journey bro!
You are a true inspiration, I my self lost 49 Kg in 3 months last year, I know it's a struggle. Keep it up man, I will follow you to the end!
You're doing great Brently! We are all with you on this and cheering you on every step of the way! I'm a formerly obese woman and recreated my life into a healthy one and your journey inspires me so much - I think because I relate to the different chapters of it so closely. Thank you for sharing your story with us.
This guy is so positive, bro I wish u to stay motivated and keep this up, ur truly an awesome human being
The two legends finally meet! Greg, you're a great coach and Brently you're on a path of success! I believe in you!
Brent you are an inspiration!!! KEEP IT UP, HARDER THAN LAST TIME! So proud of you, enjoy the ride! I hope you keep Greg as your coach, he really cares
Man props to coach Greg for taking the time to help this guy out and show him the ropes.....
Absolutely loved this Brently, you genuinely inspire me. So glad you're doing this, keep going brother ✊
Ah, Brently - you did great in there. Some good form and some definition on the triceps already. Little by little and you've got this nailed. Kudos to Greg. It could've been easy to be his normal persona but he was quiet(!) informative, patient, encouraging. All killer - no filler and everyone wins like that. So glad to see the colab happen...
brother what you're doing is an inspiration to myself and everyone who is following you on you're journey. the hardest part of the journey is getting starting when you start to see results you wont want to leave the gym. sending love from Canada
im 5 mins into the video, and MADD RESPECT BRO!! the hardest part is getting through the door. keep pushing!!
Glad you took this step Brently. Keep it up and keep working hard. You got this!!
Dude this is awesome, you are actually inspiring so many people to get out there and get fit. Props to Coach Greg as well, this is exactly the type of interaction the fitness industry needs keep at it ^_^
Good work my man! It's NOT EASY getting into the gym for the first time.. its can be intimidating, scary, overwhelming, etc., so well done. Love you're letting coach greg teach you--not many better! Keep up the hard work, we all start somewhere!
Hey bro, I've been seeing your clips all over the internet for months but never found your actual KZread channel. You're an inspiration and such a positive impact for so many people. I really love and enjoy your journey to becoming more healthy. Keep up the good work king ❤️
brently you are so inspiring man, i love seeing your pogress. i wouldn't be trying to better myself if i didnt come across you
Bro you are a huge source of inspiration and motivation. even tho i'm trying to put on weight and muscle after being hit by a car and not being able to move around for 6 months. our end goals be the same. happier and healthier :)
so much respect for you working in the gym for yourself man love it
Coach Greg is a really awesome man! Always looking out for others
I always love seeing such a dynamic during training, and especially between an elite lifter and a beginner with a long way to go. Continue the grind, and you'll make it big time, no matter how long it takes
Great going Brently! It seems you had a blast. Slow but steady towards your goal. Saw the Greg video about your meet up as well. The great mindset rubbed of, I could use that. Thank you guys.
Coach Greg is so great, what a combo. Keep it going Brent!
You got this Brody! Don’t let the pain beat you. No hurry to learn and get healthy man. Take your time and enjoy the process. Cheers!
Stay strong brother, you're an inspiration. One day at a time!
I’m glad Greg is teaching you to bench with a pause rather than a touch and go motion. The pause bench has become my default way of benching and I think it should be for most people. Edit: I’m also really happy to see Greg introducing the mag grips on the pulldowns!

Greg is just great! I see young guys coming to the gym and the "teachers" ignoring mistakes that could cause serious injuries and not even taking the time to explain why they should start with very low weights.
This is awesome to see well done to you big guy. We all start somewhere!! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
This is all of the awesome to see. Definitely a fan of Greg, the guy knows his $#!t and stumbled on your Evian water video the other day and you seem like a super good and heartwarming kind of dude. There's literally no one better than Greg to help you navigate this journey. Don't stop for nothing brother! I'll definitely be cheering you on! 💪💯
BRENTLY YOU GOT THIIIIIIS YOU CAN DO IT
This was interesting, thanks, Greg seems like a great coach. I've been working out in my garage gym for the past 2.5 years, so I have a little more experience than you, but Greg did a great job explaining everything. I'm around your same weight (480) but I started out in the 800's four years ago. Good luck on our journey. :)
