    Hello all. I just wanted to share my experience after watching this video 3x before I did my workout at the gym: When I do the breath holding for warm up, I am usually overcome from the rise of CO² and don’t push thru that first desire to breathe. But after watching this, I decided I was going to tell myself "relax" and do what I could to overcome those initial desires to breathe. After my warm-up, i felt absolutely 'ecstatic' during my workout. I did triceps & chest and felt like I could throw 225 up to the ceiling!! There was such a 'crave' to workout, to a point where I felt the need to swim after my lift. So this knowledge & application is a game-changer...because as more chronic diseases arise in the medical field, I feel like these breathing exercises (functional breathing, breathholds & the like) can be a protagonist in uprooting a lot of these illnesses

    @Winfield Dixon thanks very much! Appreciate that feedback!😊 I am familiar with the Tibetan Nine Breaths, but honestly, Win, I've never been properly instructed on it, so I cannot speak much from experience. From the bit that I know, it seems like a wonderful technique. And as I tell everyone, we as instructors can tell you all the science behind a technique and what it is intended to do in the body, but the experience of the technique is a very different thing. You are an individual and may experience things differently than how I intend. So if that technique is working for you, stick with it! I can't imagine eliminating it if you are getting value from it. What is the greatest value that you find from the Nine Breaths?

  • @BELightTT

    @BELightTT

    8 ай бұрын

    Hi @SuperRoxanne7 Thanks for watching and commenting. So, Roxanne, what do you mean you CO2 is at 34. You had it measured in a lab? So, 34mmHg is not HIGH, that's actually quite low. The average PCO2 level in people's blood is around 40mmHg. When we drop below 40mmHg (as you seem to have done) that makes us less tolerant to CO2 and can easily spark dysfunctional breathing patterns, like mild hyperventilation, mouth-breathing, and sighing, as you described. I have a video about sighing, if that's interesting to you. kzread.info/dash/bejne/c5xsqdebpMapnJM.htmlsi=Ao9V0hnW7tN6ecjN I hope this helps clarifies things a bit and that it gives you some exercises to practice. • @BELightTT

    @BELightTT

    5 ай бұрын

    @stormtraders I'm sorry to hear. 5 seconds is very low. I can imagine you feel like you are suffocating. In your case, since there is significant "dysfunction" in your breathing, I would really recommend working with a coach, if possible. You need someone who can help you come up with a program to practice regularly and also to help you progress. Will cardio help? I imagine with such low CO2 tolerance, you might even experience exercise intolerance. Is that true? Are you comfortable exercising? And are you breathing excessively through your mouth while exercising? If so, that's not going to fix the issue. You need to address your breathing first. I have a free video training that I created years ago for people dealing with Long Covid. I understand that's not your problem, but your breathing pattern sounds similar and I believe the exercises and progressions I recommend in that video might be helpful. Here's the link to grab it, if interested: www.belighttt.com/covid Thank you so much for stopping by the channel. Have a great day!

  • @BELightTT

    @BELightTT

    4 ай бұрын

    @@stormtradersHi, there! Nice to hear from you. What do you mean your "cardio has improved"? How are you measuring that? What does it mean to you? Being able to do your cardio exercise while fully nasal breathing is a great sign. It must mean that your exercise tolerance is ok. And that you are hopefully breathing a bit more functionally. Forget about your control pause. How are your symptoms these days? Is your breathing still quite labored/stuck in your chest? And besides keeping your mouth closed during exercise, have you tried any of the other breathing exercises I recommended in the Long Covid video, for improving daily functional breathing? And please keep in mind, making changes to your control pause can take weeks to months, depending on your symptoms and your approach. But improving your control pause is not the goal. Getting rid of your symptoms is the goal. So keep checking in with how you actually feel. I hope that helps.

    Will Buteyko training help with anxiety and burnout?

  • @BELightTT

    @BELightTT

    Жыл бұрын

    @LencoTB Oh my gosh! Anxiety is truly where the Buteyko Method excels! The cluster of symptoms we tend to refer to an "anxiety" is so profoundly embedded in our physiology...meaning, anxiety is really a problem of physiology, not the mind. An enormously high percentage of people who experience anxiety, have a dysfunctional breathing pattern. Fix the dysfunctional breathing patter, and the symptoms disappear, or at least greatly reduce. I hope this helps. Thanks for stopping by the channel. Have a great day!

    @@BELightTT I’ve just discovered your channel by searching for how to improve CO2. I’ve suffered from burnout before. I used to do Wim Hof breathing for many years but somehow I have realised that it stimulates my sympathetic nervous system too much and I end up having burnout yet again and panic attacks while I sleep. • @BELightTT

    @@LencoTB Hello in Denmark! Happy to meet you!😃 Yes, so, here's the thing. Each breathing technique is designed to elicit a very specific physiological response. And more importantly, not EVERY technique is right for EVERYBODY! It really depends on YOUR particular symptoms. WHM can be an amazing technique! However, if you already suffer with anxiety/panic, we already know you have some amount of dysfunctional breathing, which also means a fair amount of chronic hyperventilation (breathing too many breaths per minute). WHM is a hyperventilation technique, so it does not make a ton of sense to treat your dysfunction with MORE of the dysfunctional breathing pattern. For someone with your symptoms, it makes more sense to go the other direction, reducing your breathing, learning to slow down, learning to take truly deeper breaths, learning to breathe LESS. That is the Buteyko and Oxygen Advantage way. We are the "Less Breathing" people! LOL😂 I'm glad you are asking the right questions and developing greater awareness of your personal needs. I'm here for you, if you have questions. Have a great day!

    @@BELightTT Thx for taking the time to respond. I am a biohacker by nature but difficulty in life and stress at work was the cause of my burnout back in 2018. Since then I have tried all sort of stuff to be more stress resilient. It makes total sense what you write about WHM. It was supposed to make me more stress resilient but here I am again with yet another burnout. I have the Oura ring and measure my breathing among other things. My average for a night is around 12 breaths per minute. Sometimes I sleep with taped mouth but I’m not consistent. From now on I will focus more on the Oxygen Advantage way. I’m glad I discovered your channel. I’m also looking into how to measure my ETCO2.

  • @BELightTT

    @BELightTT

    @@LencoTB Yes, you might just need a different approach for the current situation you find yourself in. It doesn't mean you can never practice WHM ever again! But it sounds like it might not be the optimal choice right now, to move you through this time of burnout. 12 breaths per minute, actually seems pretty good. May I ask what your HRV reading typically is? Or, I'm not sure how the Oura Ring works. Maybe they give you a "stress score" instead? For End-tidal CO2, some people get at-home capnometers, but honestly, I don't know how informative that will be for you. If you decide to head that direction, I think it's best to find an exercise physiology lab that really understands blood gases; who can not only get accurate measurements, but who can also help you to properly interpret your numbers. Numbers are useless without interpretation.🤷‍♀Good luck to you! Please keep me posted on your progress.

    Hi @Ajajambo Thanks for watching. I absolutely give you many tips, starting at minute 4:50. Pretty much everything I talk about on my channel regularly will be imperative for improving CO2 tolerance, as it all improves daily functional breathing. As your breathing becomes more functional, your CO2 tolerance will automatically improve. I teach a lot of breath-holding and reduced breathing exercises to my students and clients in my online programs, as well as in my private community. Unfortunately, I do not feel those are appropriate to share on KZread, as they come with some contraindications, and I would like everyone to remain as safe as possible (especially since I am not able to personally evaluate your particular situation here on KZread). If you're interested in studying more, you can check out the details of my program here: www.belighttt.com/breathetofeelgood Otherwise, I'm sure there are probably hundreds of videos on KZread talking about CO2 tolerance. You might find another breath coach who has other approaches that are more "user-friendly" and easy to share via this platform. Wishing you lots of luck! And thanks so much for stopping by the channel.
