CMA Review 2023 Update (Certified Management Accountant)

The purpose of this video is to help you in your pursuit of the Certified Management Accountant designation. This is an updated version of a video I did about 5 years ago. Thousands of people are still watching that video every year so I felt somewhat of an updated version might be helpful.
Between the two videos, I should have answered many of the questions you might have about the designation.

    Great content. I watched it yesterday and it got me back on track to take the exam next year hopefully. I started to practise the CMA during Covid but due to plenty of setbacks I stopped. After that, it was next to impossible to find the motivation to resume but your video pumped me up! I'll keep you posted about the outcome. Thanks my friend!

    I really like that you are not tied to educational programs for the CMA, so I trust that you are not biased towards it. One of the best videos on the subject, in my opinion. Great information. Thanks for doing it!

    Thank you for this video. I passed part 1 earlier this year, but failed part 2 and felt really bad about it. This has helped me in licking my wounds and work on what I need to do differently to knock out the 2nd one.

    If you passed part 1 you can definitely pass part 2. It’s a very tough exam and many people fail. Don’t let it get you down. Just focus on the areas you didn’t do well and finish it. You’ve already made it so far and I promise it is so worth it.

    Hello! Thank you for putting together this video. I just became a member of the IMA and I paid the entrance fee for the CMA. I start my coursework towards the license this upcoming week and I am so excited to get started. I’m doing a brief prepping by watching CMA videos currently and you provide a clear representation of what a CMA is and where you can take it. This content is superb and totally hype for someone like me. Cheers,

    I'll give you credit and appreciation for the work you did to present important information for the CMA. The reason I say so is because I want to work as a financial analyst and seeing how the CMA goes into analytics since data now is more valuable than gold, the ROI is positive. I'm still I'm college but starting this fall expecting to finish the last 2 years to gain my bachelors in accounting, I plan to network and find out how can I get a role working as a financial analyst. I don't know if it is a role someone has to work up to or if you can be hired as a financial analyst coming out of college? Either way, I'll join the IMA club soon🌟.

    How do you feel about this certification for someone who is not even remotely in manufacturing? I've read it's highly geared towards that, but that just isn't at all appicable to my industry. It seems like it could still be beneficial though.

  • @white_sheep_media_business

    @white_sheep_media_business

    This certification is applicable in so many more areas than just manufacturing. There is a big emphasis on cost accounting which may be what you’re reading about. I worked in manufacturing for about 3 years before getting the certification and it was the preferred certification in that environment. However, my last 5 were corporate finance in retail and it was also extremely beneficial. Hope that helps.

  • @white_sheep_media_business

    Thanks for your question. The MAcc could be great in addition to the CMA. I would expect a person that pursues a MAcc to want to be on a mostly accounting track. Many people I’ve known to pursue the MAcc have been people that aspire to work in public accounting doing tax and audit or to be controllers or chief accountants if they are working in a business. The CMA would provide greater ability to pivot more towards finance and/or business leadership.

    Hi! Sure! I started out in a Fortune 500 company about a decade ago as a financial analyst. Most recently I’ve worked at the Director level in a small business. In between, I worked as an accounting/finance manager. I’ve worked in manufacturing, construction, and retail. I don’t think I would have nearly the success without education like what’s included in the CMA.
