I use to have that Ranger Danger shirt that Randal wears. Smith said during one of his recorded chats-all-night-at-an-audience that the Mooby’s location was a closed Burger King. They rented out a cheesy motel right next to it during filming and Jason Mewes completely customized his room with furniture and decor from Target. He didn’t want to leave when they wrapped filming; asked if he could stay. Smith told him he was getting a sweetheart rate for renting out 50 rooms. When he found out how much he’d have to pay for one room on his own he immediately was ready to leave

I fell in love with Rosario Dawson during the dance scene. You can never go wrong with “The Talking Heads.” When I ran a bakery, my employees and I always made fun of our customers; we figured someone was out there making fun of us so it was justified. There is an episode of “Rescue Me” where the crew has to go to sensitivity class and they proceed, via racial slurs, to traumatize the instructor. It’s gold. Every number in the soundtrack is fantastic. Fear not! “Clerks III” is out there!

I was waiting for you to do this one. For me, Clerks 2 seems like a product of it's time and still holds up for me. Especially with the LOTR scene. I saw this movie in theaters when it first came out in theaters and everyone was dying laughing. Especially during Randall's speech about bringing it back and pillow pants. It's honestly one of my favorites. I get that it's not everyone's cup of tea and that's cool. But the whole film is supposed to be about Dante and Randall "finding themselves" in the world and accepting that it's ok to live a life that you enjoy that others may not find "attractive". As long as you have what you want and what makes you happy, that's all that matters.

I've REALLY been enjoying your Kevin Smith watches, but I honestly can't wait to see you do Clerks III, which absolutely wrecked me when I watched it. I do enjoy all his films, and the Jay & Silent Bob ones are good silly fun. But it feels in so many ways like the Clerks Trilogy is his masterpiece, and the other fun movies he's made feel like what he does for fun and money while he's waiting for the cast to age up to the right ages for each installment. They stand on their own as "serious" art in a way that not everything I love about Kevin Smith does. We should have known based on Dante's name that there was going to be a three-part Divine Comedy coming, and I by "Divine Comedy" I ain't talking about Dogma.

Clerks 3 is very different again to the other two films and I think it’s important to remember that these films have an autobiographical quality to Smith. Funny thing is that you can't really appreciate Clerks II until seeing Clerks III, because it does all eventually pay off. This is a rare example of a movie that is made better retroactively. I once tweeted Kevin Smith that I thought he inverted the Star Wars Trilogy- Clerks= A New Hope; Clerks II= Return of the Jedi (ironically, given the dialogue); Clerks III=Empire Strikes Back. He responded in the affirmative that that was how he saw these entries, too.

That scene when Jay is trying to take a piss and keeps getting hit by the door omg, makes me laugh every time. And damn that Listerfiend. PS I heard that one of the reasons Rosario Dawson agreed to do this movie was for the donkey scene, and then she missed it when it was being filmed. I wrote that before you got to it in your review, oops.

Went to see this in theaters when it came out. To be honest, I remember it as being one of the funniest experiences I’ve ever had in a theater. Maybe most of the audience was familiar with the characters from View Askew, but I think the jokes (at the time) just hit differently than they do today. For example, the theater I was in was so loud with laughter during the donkey show, you could barely hear the dialogue 🤣 😂

The ipening song is Nothing But Flowers by the Talking Heads. The singer has lived through an apocalypse and been part of a restoration of pre industrial living but laments the loss of mundane modern conveniences. Might as well be sung by Dante or Randall!

I met Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes last week. They are one of the coolest guys to meet. So worth the money to meet them. When talking to Kevin I said my favorite part in Clerks was when the lady asks where the new release section it and it’s pointing to her. I said it is common sense to look for it and people don’t take the time to look. Kevin said that was when we used to have video stores and we don’t have that anymore. I agreed with him. I said I went to a mom and pops video store around 94 or 95 and seen the movie on the shelf and I rented it. Kevin says thanks for picking it up and your one of the people that been there since the beginning. I said yes. We had other things to talk about it be long to type up. When getting his photo Kevin gave me a hug and said thanks for coming out

I saw this in the theater and was “meh” about it. It wasn’t until seeing it again years later that I really gained an appreciation for this sequel. No idea why, maybe it’s the nostalgia of it? I like it much more now than I did first viewing.

That was my closest Burger King while growing up, I left the state in '92 and was surprised/happy to see it in the movie 10+ years later. Just on the other side of the motel you can see in the background of many of the shots, including the roof scene, was our local Tower Records, which would have been an ideal spot for Jay and Silent Bob to do business. The Burger King was very close to one of the overflow parking lots for Knott's Berry Farm amusement park (think mini Disneyland) and would get pretty good business from people going to and from the park.

That Mooby's used to be a Burger King, it's gone now. Adam The Woo went there to line up shots from the movie about 5 or 6 years ago and it was already torn down. He still lined up shots, you just have to imagine the building being there.
