I'm an actor/comedian who was obsessed with the movies from the moment I saw Lindsay Lohan play twin girls on screen. I formed a strong connection to so many VHS tapes from my childhood that today, for you, I'm rewatching some of my favorites and incorporating some new classics into the mix. Come for quirky reviews, film commentary and criticism but stay for my shiny personality and Taylor Swift references. :)

The style choices help the emotional impact. Each piece of this movie lends to the emotional impact. From the performances, the action, the dialogue, EVERYTHING. And the pay off, is the tears we shed at the end. Also, the “filming from the outside” when they were in the car gave a feeling of realism but also a feeling that the subjects are being observed or isolated from all surroundings.

They post almost weekly in the news about aliens. We just choose not to listen lol. The government released tons of videos of fighter jets encountering UFOs and etc. Wether or not it's real is another matter lol 😅

Honestly, I've seen more people worried about black people being offended than actual black people who were offended. And of the ones who were offended, nearly none of them actually watched the movie and understood what RDJ was playing.

A subtle detail that you will appreciate later (not a spoiler) is during the "fake grenade scene" when Rodgers lunges for the grenade, so does captain Carter. 13:11

Hi Shanelle!!!😊 That big, tall, skinny, bald alien you've just seen in the restaurant was portrayed by actor Carel Struycken, or Lurch from the Addam Family movies in the early 1990's!!!!!😄

Men In Black is a really great movie!!!! It came out when I was just 9 years old at the time and I believe my now late mother took me to see this!!!! A year prior to this movie, actor Will Smith had done Independence Day, another Blockbuster involving extraterrestrial beings!!!!!😉

I love this movie. I did see it in theaters, it came out I think it was November 4 or something like that and I went to see it over the weekend for my birthday with my brother. I was and still am an Eminem fan and had to see it, I was in 9th grade so had to wait for the weekend so my brother had off work.

couldn't help myself, but this movie was released in August of 1983. You kept repeatedly saying 1984. I actually saw this film in the theater that summer of '83, it was a huge hit at the box office and everyone was talking about it. And as for the John Hughes thing.....uh no. Hughes' first directed film (Sixteen Candles) came out about 9 months AFTER Risky Business, and as a Gen X'er who grew up with all of this in the 80's and watched Cruise become (arguably) the biggest movie star of all time (if you add up all his box office grosses), I can say emphatically that John Hughes did NOT influence this film in any way. I saw basically all of these 80's films either in the theater or on VHS in the 80's, and we were all aware of who Hughes was and the whole Molly Ringwald muse thing he seemingly had going at the time, and I don't think I've ever met anyone who thinks that Risky Business was influenced by John Hughes (again released way before his stuff to begin with). The 2 most influential films of the 80's as far as teen life went were Fast Times At Ridgemont High (1982) followed by Risky Business (1983). The only Hughes film that has really and truly stood the test of time in regards to 80's teen life is The Breakfast Club (1985). Hughes film's definitely had a certain "feel" to them I'll give him that (posthumously), but Fast Times & RIsky Business (again '82 & '83 respectively) defined everything in the 80's as far as teen life that came after them in cinema. And John Hughes stuff came well AFTER both of these films.

A lot of people assume that Captain America isnt as popular outside of the States as he is inside, but in truth all around the world Cap is one of the most popular super heroes of all time, and I think a lot of that is because of what he stands for. Cap doesn’t stand for America, he stands for the American Way and the values of America. He doesn’t discriminate, he isnt blindly loyal to his country, and he fights to protect people around the world not to destroy them. I think Captain America's true super power lies in his incredible moral compass and unwavering integrity. Great reaction Shanelle, and you're right, this movie really did give off Star Wars vibes! 😂

If not mentioned already, the Jonah reference was to the Biblical story of Jonah and the whale/big fish where he was swallowed by it and spent 3 days in its belly.

Yes, there are often boilers or furnaces in the basements of schools in the Midwest. Remember, these places need to be heated during the long winter months. I LOVE this movie. It feels oddly real while being set in a bizarre premise. The dialogue feels very off-the-cuff and natural. Maybe even improved. And the humor of all the cast is allowed to come out in their performances. I have watched this movie many times and love it more each time.

To answer this reviewer's first question.... Fear and Loathing is based on the TRUE EVENTS of a real person (Hunter S Thompson). It is in fact a serious Expose about the American Dream .... Sure you can laugh at the surreal qualities of the real, but if you actually read the book, you know, there's a lot more going on here than what meets the eye... buy the ticket take the ride... read the book.
