I love the idea of that little box containing so many loads of laundry! I think you can donate cleaning supplies to places like women's shelters, homeless shelters, animal rescues, etc.

I love Murphy oil soap too.
I plan to see if anyone in my local Buy Nothing group would be interested in the extra cleaners I have but don't plan to use. My favorite homemade cleaner for the shower is a mix of dish soap (like dawn) and vinegar. Put it in the cleaning wand and clean the shower while you are in there! Thanks for the motivation to declutter, Steph!

Our local animal shelter likes cleaning supplies, extra towels, even shredded paper and cardboard boxes.
Feels so good just having a few multipurpose products instead of a cupboard full of bottles! Love my simplified cleaning products.
I love how you are even showing the little things we don’t normally think about.
This one is going to be a lot.. 🙃. I thought it was funny when you had the Murphy’s oil soap in your hand and talking about you don’t have any wood in your house with your wood cabinets behind you.. just the other day I wished I had Murphy’s oil soap to wash my cabinets.. Time to get started!
I donated cleaning supplies to our local animal shelter or any human shelter/organization. I love True Earth. I sent my daughter off to college with the laundry strips. So easy and eco friendly.
Mrs meyers has always been a splurge treat for me. I am trying this year to make my own all purpose cleaner. So far I'm doing well! 😄
I am tired today, my back hurts, and I had no intentions on doing anything today, but thanks to you, I did. I decluttered my bathroom cleaning products and wiped down my bathroom in 10 minutes. Plus, I spent an extra minute ordering the laundry sheets from TruEarth. Thanks for getting me motivated even when I don't want to be. 🤣
OMGosh! I have tears streaming after listening to your end of podcast story- underwear clinging! 🤣🤣🤣 My friend was walking away after using the restroom and as she passed by a co-worker, she’s yelled at “stop, come here right now”. She said she literally jumped. She entered the desk area and was told turn around. At which point the lady peels a “pad” off the back of her leg!!! It was a new one that fell and somehow stuck to her. Totally reminded me of that embarrassing moment. You two crack me up and I’m loving your Podcasts.
A few years ago, I downsized all our cleaning stuff, too, and the only cleaners I use now are two - for general cleaning (toilets, sinks, countertops, floors, etc.) I use equal parts of dishwashing liquid & vinegar. For windows & mirrors, I make a homemade mixture, also. I keep the dishwashing/vinegar mix in spray bottles under each bathroom sink and under the kitchen sink, so I always have it there when I clean. I also keep the homemade glass cleaner under both bathroom sinks. I do use furniture polish occasionally on certain pieces of furniture, but for the rest I just use a FlyLady cleaning rag. Easy peasy and has simplified life so much for me! Thank you for the daily encouragement, Steph. I will be sad to see this series end!
I didnt think to declutter cleaners. But my cupboard has a full shelf of them. I only use the ones in the front. 😆 going in.
Finally decluttered cleaning products the previous owners left. Had them for years and never used them.
I would be so embarrassed to show anyone how many cleaning supplies I have! This is a definite must do.
It’s amazing how much you can actually clean with just a few products
I think you should do a video on how you disinfect your bathroom with the cleaners you have. That would be awesome!
I had so many things in my cleaning supplies that were brand new and have just sat there for years. I never use them so I finally got them together and will donate them to the local women’s shelter.
I used to be a huge user of the latest and greatest cleaning product, when I was first married many years ago. Then I learned that most were just all the same. So for the last several years I use rubbing alcohol, essential oils (for fragrance), Murphy oil soap, bleach sometimes, alcohol wipes. Love the series Steph ! Have a lovely day ! 🥰💐🌷🌱🌞🌛🏜✝💗
Done! I go back and forth between keeping simple, natural products under my sink, to some extreme hard-working products under my sink.
i am shocked at how much better it looks under my sink!!!! i didn't think this one would make a huge difference, but it totally did!!!!!
Oh man, this one is a big one for me - I found 4 glass spray bottles and one plastic one under my kitchen sink - and I know there are more in my bathrooms 😆 Also some items to pass on to someone else! Now there is a surprising amount of room under there! It melted my heart when your little boy walked through the kitchen and said hi to you, BTW 💕 Thanks Steph! - Hannah
This was something I really needed! Please ask your viewers to recycle cleaners by donating to shelters or taking to a solid waste swap shop. They are bad for the environment. Thanks!
Love the organiser wherein you store the supplies. Treat all chemical cleaning products as toxic friends to keep far away from :)
Where I live (St. Paul, MN) there is a hazardous waste disposal site that takes cleaners. They put all usable products like cleaners and paints in a free store that anyone is welcome to shop in. I’ve painted several rooms with free paint! It’s so cool to know I’m keeping hazardous things out of a landfill by redecorating.
I keep my cleaning supplies in each room I use them in. Each bathroom has its own set of cleaning products so I don’t have to have a cleaning caddy. It’s what works best for me
Store your garbage bags, outside the box, in the bottom of each garbage can. They are right where you need them and can add them to your grocery list as you are using the last ones.

Good idea! I have an assortment of various cleaners I’m trying to use up. Our animal shelter takes any unused cleaners. Might be worth a try to check with them. I have old towels I need to drop off to them. Will go thru cleaners to add to their box. Thanks Steph! Great video! Hugs Em 🌸🌷🌸🌷🌸🌷

Such a great idea!!!
I think we all could use a lot less plastic in our lives. Thank you for showing us how.
I haven’t bought cleaning supplies in years- and still have stuff Im not using since I switched for vinegar, baking soda and Dawn dishsoap! GREAT idea to purge cleaning stuffs Steph!!!!
Now this will be a project for me. I wound up with soooo many cleaners during the worst of covid that I don't like to use. I've been a vinegar, Dawn, and baking soda girl for about 40 years and don't know why I bought so many different cleaners. There is a no-kill cat rescue nearby so I hope they can use some of what I declutter.
I've also decluttered my cleaning supplies and simplified what I use down to just hot soap and water. Works on cleaning everything and anything.
This is a great video! I switched over to homemade cleaners of all natural ingredients when I found Clean Mama. She has recipes to make all of your own cleaning products at home with simple ingredients - vinegar, baking soda, Dr. Bronner's castile soap, essential oils, etc. We can't use harsh commercial cleaners for our home because we all have skin and breathing sensitivities. Thanks Steph for another good lesson in decluttering what no longer serves our homes.
I put anything that I don’t want any more onto our local buy nothing group on Facebook. Things literally go within hours. It feels so good to know that something is going to be, rather than possibly throw an out at the Goodwill. I private message your address and people come pick up off your porch. It’s wonderful and it’s helped me decluttering my house. It amazes me how even broken things and odd little stuff is often Exactly the thing someone else was needing!
Recently I discovered how much I love microfiber cloths!
I have a box of cleaning supplies in the garage that I moved over from our previous house 3.5 years ago and have never looked in it. Time to go through it.
Agree with everyone’s comments. Instead of throwing away unused cleaners, animal shelters would make a great donation 🐶🐱 or probably many neighbors or coworkers too!
Steph…Murphy’s Oil works great to remove oily based stains, including collar rings, tomato sauce, etc from clothing. I’ve never used it on floors! Got this laundry tip from my sister who is a retired kindergarten teacher. Today’s video is timely as I’m sorting through cleaners preparing for our move. Thanks again for posting these daily. I know it must be exhausting to do this with little ones keeping you busy!
Cleaning with healthy things is so important
Love laundry strips! I was the one that made the messes with liquid soap. So very glad that is behind me. I have a baby cleaning caddy in each bathroom… they get e cluttered now.
I love how you've gotten everything down to an all-purpose cleaner and a glass cleaner. This is my goal, but I'm trying to use up what I have now. I don't understand how I ended up with so many different cleaners, lol.
Yay, something I’ve already done recently. I actually need to replenish a couple of things. Lol I would post the cleaners for free on a free Facebook buy/sell/trade group there’s surly someone who could use them. We have one that’s called pay it forward with our area code. It works great for getting rid of stuff and others can get stuff they need.
You might donate the cleaning supplies you don't need to a shelter for the homeless or women leaving prostitution or other abusive situations. You might keep the RainEx in the garage. It was developed for exterior of car windows but can also be good for outside house windows - it forms a protective coating so rain beads up and runs off to preventing spotting - so you don't need to wash those windows as often.
@j.n.n.lidemark

RainEx is also helpful on shower glass after you clean the glass. It help keeps down the hard water build up plus if you use a squeegee between cleans too!
Having been an Army wife fir many years, we always had a ton of cleaning stuff from when we had to march out of our quarters. The house had to be spotless, so with every march put we bought products that we thought were better than the last lit we had. So we ended up with loads of part used bottles. I'm sure we have a box full in the garage. But, of course, we buy more rather than looking in the box. Looks like I might have to send hubby out to the garage to retrieve the box to see what we actually have.
I like how minimal you are with your cleaning supplies. I need to make more of an effort to change my supplies to better options and move away from all the harsh chemicals.
I’m amazed at the cleaning supplies that I have but don’t use. I really only use 3 basic products, so it’s time to set those puppies free. I’m sending them to the shop with my hubs. The extra space under my kitchen cupboard now - wow, so much room for activities! 😂
You’ve probably chosen today’s gift but if I get this, I’m getting something from the local NU store. Then, to pay it forward, I’m donating items from that store to appropriate people. I decluttered AND I posted it on “TrashNothing”. The person who picked up the cleaning items that still had some product was so so happy to get it. I found some tile whitener and SUDS toxic cleaner. I didn’t want to send these on to her, so it’s in my pile of items that are going to the toxic waste drop off that is open tomorrow. Perfect timing!! I love love the laundry strips by TruEarth and my husband has also come on board - surprise, surprise. 🇨🇦😊🌍
I gave them to my friend who was struggling with money, she was really happy!
Hi! You could donate the cleaning products to local ministries in your community. Sometimes non profits don’t have funds for extra cleaning supplies. Just an option. I really enjoy your channel and keep doing what you are doing!
I make all my cleaning supplies, including laundry and dishwasher soaps. I also make my personal hygiene products. You have encouraged me to organize all the ingredients.
Good one! I don't know many people who struggle with declutterring, organizing and cleaning who DON'T try every new cleaner, hoping for that one magic product.
@patkern185

Exactly! Just like skin care and cosmetics. "Where oh where is the magical solution?" LOL
I did this recently. It’s amazing how much cleaning stuff that you can accumulate! I labeled where it all goes, which gives me sanity and saves money!
Great timing for this. Tomorrow is the first day for I think 2 years for hazardous waste drop off events for our city. I can get rid of all my old toxic cleaners I have kept for years.
I switched to Tru Earth thanks to you Steph. I’m using what I have because I don’t have any other way of getting rid of them. Thanks for another great video.
This one….I clean & organize for a living…so I definitely keep a surplus on hand…but everything will be used…& it goes pretty fast!!! The good thing is it is organized & I have the space to keep it!!!😁🤷♀️
Love the categories that make sure I don’t overlook an area of clutter.
Thanks for the push! I threw out a whole bag full of half used cleaners that didn't even work for our family! Now to get it organized. LOL
Fly Lady had a great trip to use up random cleaners for your toilet swish and swipe in the morning. I've used up cleaners I wasn't using with this method.

Love this idea! I use unloved shower gels, bath products and shampoo to refill my hand washing pumps.
This is definitely one of those areas where I wouldn't have thought I needed to go through, but boy did I!
Good motivation to whittle my collection down some more. I like the idea someone gave of donating the ones I don’t use.
I love TruEarth laundry strips. They work great and take up such little space! And it’s a bonus that it’s easy for my kids to use!
I didn't know Tru Earth made multipurpose cleaner! I keep a set of cleaning supplies in each bathroom, an all-purpose spray in the laundry room as well as the laundry supplies, and a tote under my kitchen sink with what I need to clean an entire house. It is a lot of stuff, but I like being able to clean the bathrooms at any time without having to go get supplies. I don't want to lose interest or get distracted if I have the urge to clean! I make most of my own products and rarely try something new but when I do have something I want to declutter, I either see if anyone I know would actually like it or I go on a cleaning spree until it is used up. ;) I know my cleaning tote is good because I just took it to someone else's house yesterday and cleaned top to bottom so no surprises in there. Off to check under my kitchen sink to see what has crawled in under there.
Girl don’t even get me started about how many cleaning products there are in my house! You’d think that I cleaned for a living!🤣🤣
My husband just asked me the other day to go thru the cleaning products in cabinet under kitchen sink! Got my vinegar water with orange essential oil under my sink! You need a water softener system with well water for sure!!!! Use less soap with a softener too! Keep lime-a-way until you get a water softener system. Your toilets will become built up with minerals and won't flush with hard well water. Coffee maker too as well as washing machine all get build up with hard well water. You can get potassium or sodium softener systems.. Laundry strips are really cool! Happy Earth Day!!! 🌎
I never thought of all the clutter something for cleaning could clutter my house! I really need those laundry strips with my ultra small laundry area!
I could not live without the Murphy's Oil Soap! I have it diluted in a little spray bottle and it's saving my hardwood floors from my cat's frequent hairballs, LOL! IMO you should save it, not toss it, because it's good on anything wood including kitchen cabinets, furniture, etc. It's also not strong or dangerous like the lime removers or bleach. Also, Steph is totally right about TruEarth! It's amazing, and takes up no space at all. Steph, you didn't mention that those wool dryer balls are also sold by TruEarth: fabulous product! I am totally going to get one of those dish wands to use in my shower! Why didn't I think of that??? Brilliant!
Had too many old toothbrushes for cleaning.. and now they are gone. Thanks for inspiring to declutter!
wonderful motivation! I can't say I've ever thought to round up cleaning supplies from all rooms and declutter from there, but thats a great idea!
Steph! Murphys Oil Soap is THE best. Use it on your kitchen cabinets, that beautiful wood paneled wall in your living room. Wood furniture etc...Animal shelters will usually gladly take your unused cleaners. Done and done! If you have hard water that CLR is a gamechanger. #springdeclutter #fellowcanadiangirl
Becoming minimal in this area is so hard because there are so many great options! I guess I don’t need alllll of it. 😆
When we moved into our house, there were a lot of old cleaning supplies in our basement and we took them to a recycling depot that disposes of those types of chemicals and old paints safely. Usually every municipality will have some place that takes these items, though you may have to pay a fee.
Years ago I got rid of all toxic chemicals in my home. Cleaning supplies was the first to go and I changed to all Mrs. Meyers and method products. Since then I have gone even deeper. I currently only use Norwex for 90% of my cleaning and that included floors, windows, appliances, counters etc. To deep clean my tub/shower I use vinegar and water with a few drops of dish soap. I also use the True Earth of strips. LOVE THEM the only "chemical" I still have in my home is Folex. I have a lot of children in and out here so carpets stains are a given.
Yay! Something I purged recently! I've gone down to only keeping all-purpose cleaner, glass cleaner, vinegar, and baking soda in my cleaning supplies and it makes life so much easier!
I like the caddy with the different cleaning supplies. A great way to organize them.
I have so much more room now ... and a box of cleaning stuff for the local shelter !!! Thanks again for this fun trip
Soooo good to see that you use bicarb soda & vinegar for your cleaning & definitely rare to hear it! That's all I use for cleaning other than fragrance free natural liquid dishwashing liquid! I can't tolerate chemicals or scents so I use basic cleaners. Odd socks, microfibre cloths, chux, rags & paper towels are the cloths we use for cleaning + old toothbrushes. Salt & lemon juice also work well when cleaning! Today I spent time sorting out my yarn storage cubes a bit more! Great to feel more organised. I'll go through my cleaning supplies tomorrow, but doubt very much that there will be anything to declutter... probably just needs a tidy.🥰 Blessings from South Australia💕🐨
Hi! I am enjoying this series you are doing. Lots of great ideas. The RainX glass cleaner is for vehicle glass, and can be used on outside windows because it causes the water/dirt to slide right off the glass. I am currently decluttering my cleaning supplies and have a ton of new Glade sprays that we no longer want or use because of allergies. In my area our donation sites will accept cleaners and such so I will offer to family first then donate what’s left. Thank you for doing this series, I am sad to see it ending. Lots of great tips and ideas. Be blessed!
Never really thought about the clutter cleaning supplies make.
I got all my cleaners combined and now they take up less space. Thanks, Steph!
Vinegar, water, dish soap and baking soda are some of my favorite things to use!!
Just did under kitchen sink to allow room for reverse osmosis system. Little bit of laundry supplies and this will be an easy day. Thanks Steph!
The rain off is for car windows. I haven’t seen it used in the house. Possibly, you can use the decluttered cleaners in the garage.😁
My cleaning supplies are Castile soap, white vinegar, baking soda, rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide for regular cleaning. Some bleach for occasional heavy duty cleaning. Nothing else. Old products, whether I liked them or not, I used them up. Great for scrubbing footpath in front of my house.
What a great video! I did this exact project last week. One cabinet had SO much random cleaning items. If they were full enough, I did put them into my thrift store bin. Anything that was old, almost empty, etc.... I just threw away. Also.... I joined TruEarth a few months ago, and I got that same box of a year supply, we tear in half also, and it works FABULOUSLY!!!!
I usually have no trouble letting go of things, but for some reason I have an all purpose concentrate, with now about only 10 percent left, that I have probably moved with me to 4 different homes over the years. I haven't used it in forever, I'm sick of the smell, but for some reason, I couldn't bring myself to waste it. Today I was finally able to say goodbye. 😂
I have multiple sets of cleaning supplies in multiple locations. 🤦♀It made sense once upon a time to have supplies in each bathroom and under the kitchen sink, but it results in clutter and open bottles of cleaners everywhere! I see it's time to consolidate the supplies into 1 caddy (thank you for the idea) and carry the caddy around when I need it. Less clutter, brilliant!
I was just under my Kitchen sink last night and knowing that I needed to get to cleaning them up. TIP: Adding vinegar to each load of laundry in the Bleach dispenser of your machine helps keep your machine clean as well as helps remove any residual soap from your clothing, about 1/2 cup per load.

Be careful when adding vinegar to the bleach or any other washing machine dispenser. The hose that connects the dispenser to your drum will leak after 2 years. I have bought a couple of the hoses, so I now just put the vinegar in the drum before the clothes.

This is great! Tomorrow my county has an Earth Day collection drive, where they will properly dispose of chemicals, cleaners, paint, etc. They combine this with a bike drive for those in need. I'm filling the car up and look forward to a chemical-free system henceforth. I love cleaning with baking soda and vinegar and think microfiber cloths are the bomb.
I have to say this challenge and all your other challenges and videos on KZread are my favoritest. You are by far my Favoritest decluttering channel and help me the most. Thank you for all you motivate in me 💜💜
Okay, fine I'll do it. Even though I don't want too 🤣 thanks for motivating me ☀️
I can't think of any other decluttering challenge that specifically called out cleaning supplies like this. Game changer! Thank you!
I have been using my extra cleaning supplies in the toilet for the swish and swipe fly lady routine. I clean the toilet every day and flylady said to use what you have. I feel good not wasting all the cleaning products I had. Now I will only replace the items I like.
If you're on a well you might want to keep the lime a way and CLR. They come in very handy with well water
Thanks to this channel I stopped buying tons of different toxic and harsh cleaning products. It's amazing how vinegar, soda and dish soap can do all the job.
I saw a video where the person said the reason messier homes tend to have more cleaning supplies is because we’re trying to buy ourselves out of the situation. That was definitely true for me (NOT TRYING TO IMPLY IT WAS OR IS FOR YOU. YOUR HOME IS LOVELY!), but decluttering and learning to put routines in place helps keep my home much tidier and under control. Thank you for more inspiration!
My husband buys laundry soap from costco, and sometimes he buys more than we need just in case…I don’t want 3 big jugs hanging out in the laundry room anymore! So, I bought a clear, glass juice dispenser from Walmart…it looks so nice and it is easy to see that we don’t need any more detergent! Got rid of a bunch of stuff recently when we got a new washer and dryer…I am getting rid of a big cupboard in the laundry room, and I will be installing a floating shelf instead…I can’t wait!
Great series - I am doing along with you! To help reduce garbage bag clutter I keep the bags in the bottom of the bins. That way you don't have to store the box of bags and they are handy to replace after you take out the trash.
I never use paper towels (except for animal accidents). I have 30 - 40 bar towels for all cleaning and wiping and then toss them in the wash. Saves tons of money and saves the earth.
I keep all my cleaning supplies in one area, helps me to know how much I have and what to buy. I use a caddy to go from room to room similar to yours. Our local shelters take any cleaning supplies they can get their hands. on.
I am so surprised on how much cleaning supplies I have. But yet, why do I feel everything is still so dirty. Lol I like your cleaning caddy and idea of multi use cleaners. Thank you.
Check with your church to see if they could use cleaning supplies. I combined 3 bottles of window cleaner. Didn't know I had 3 bottles. Thanks for the motivation and suggestions of what to declutter.
