And those Cajun brothers CAN HUNT! COOK AND CLEAN like nobody’s business! Much love brother Oak. My family goes by the name Guidry.
It was fascinating watching this expert's tremendous skills, and so fast too! If he charges by the pound (or kilo) weight, he should include the flies as that would DOUBLE it LOL. Great watch.

Need a plastic sled an wheeled cart! Dragging that across dock can’t imagine the smell an flys! Nice job cleaning an filleting!
You know what your doin. I’ve cleaned gar and you make it look a lot easyer than I’ve experienced. Got all the meat too. Empressive!
Thanks for the genuine content…my kind of content right here💯
Bro! No need for the gym after that! That’s awesome. I’ve been very uneducated about fish even though I’ve grown up fishing all my life. Use to throw flat heads back while bass fishing but that is some of the whitest best meat ever! Only hooked a few of these but next time I’m putting it in the ice chest and eating it! That’s some great looking meat! Thanks for the video you make it look easy.

My dad caught these when he was growing up in Louisiana. They are tasty😋😋😋
From wisconsin some day may get one. Awesome. Try not to waste things. Even caught the end. Rib meat. Clean flatheads and save belly meat. 64 years old and when young kids would clean them for a $1. Nice fillets. Then we figured out they kept belly meat. Best part.told my dad and others. Now we know bettet. You did good job and fast.

There's a reason that the belly meat is left behind sir. Especially in the older fish unfortunately there's a little thing called mercury that is stored there. If this isn't a concern for you then by all means continue but I'd suggest looking into the mercury content in your area. It can cause many health problems. The smaller ones are better eaters and cleaner.
Powerful video.enjoyed from Kenya

Sir..!! Unfortunately I'm in Florida now for the past 13 years, but I'm originally from Virginia.. and we have alligator gar like that in Virginia, most people killed them and left them on the banks to rot, a total shame.. my family used to fillet them out like you did, only we used pruning shears to get through top and you used a cleaver.. well done sir..!!! Well done..!! Semper-fi..!! Maybe I can book a trip with you for my son and I... he is 11and a great fisherman in his own right.. 😉

So most people just killed them and left them on the bank did they that just shows you the type of deadshits that fished there doesn't it

I use sheet metal snips to cut the hard ass scales , also cut the tail off while it's alive and hang it to bleed out. The flesh will turn out white as cotton.
I would love have an Gar skin. The scales are used for many things.

When I saw you hang it in the tree it reminded me how my dad used to clean them like catfish with the catfish pliers!

A good friend of mine -Ricky Verrette has a you tube video commercial gar fisherman does the skinning at his dock at home-he is awesome of the commercial level you are awesome on the recreational cleaning and preparing for the table garfish-loved the video-😊
Great video, its good to see someone take as much meat as possible off the fish. Its a shame when people waste so much by not knowing how to properly clean a big Gar! Made me hungry!
Use too be hundreds of them gulping air in some rivers and lakes. They are scarce now, their tasty meat caught on to a lot of people. Native Americans used the scales from big ones for arrowheads.
