SIB Fishing The Manacles - Cornwall

Спорт

Small inflatable boats such as the one I’m using in this video are really affected by wind, fortunately in Cornwall I have the choice of North and South coast launch venues which give me the chance to get out even when it’s blowing.
The manacles reef is somewhere I’ve always been aware of and I finally decided to take my chances with moderate offshore winds. As soon as I got amongst the pinnacles I knew that bass would be the mainstay for the session and sure enough my first lure caught bar from the SIB was secured.
I’ll certainly be back at this venue in the near future as it has all the features of a top class area for the type of light lure fishing I enjoy most.
Unfortunately the session was cut short when the gusts picked up beyond what’s reasonable on a flat hulled SIB.
The aquamarina boat used in this video is available here - www.maelstromonline.co.uk

Nice session mate! The Van Staal reel handle at 1:19 is surrealistic 😲 Hoping it is still under warranty and you could get a quick replacement.

Just got back from fishing that spot today on a kayak. Not much tide so no bass. Got a couple of lovely pollock though.

Nice days fishing shows, definitely more fish afloat than I catch from the shore there

That’s one of the reasons I got into SIBs although I will say that although the numbers are better the size isn’t always.

Great session. Thanks for sharing. Curious- did you use just the one lure for all the session or swap round a bit? Curious as to which lure worked best. As I hoping to get out there on my yak, fingers crossed those big silver bars will be heading this way soon, south coast nr. Brighton. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

bro, how's your outboard motor doing? any issues? any regrets of not getting electric start and power tilt?

Hey man sorry to see the reel let you down. I've had so many gear failures this last year I know just how you feel. I've started taking 4 reels with me in the car so I can't fail. I have been looking at the Penn spinfisher along with other Penn Reels. They seem to be very Hardy reels. I have a 7000 surf blaster at the moment and it's never let me down for beach fishing. Would you recommend the Spinfisher? Lovely video as always! Tight lines!

I rate the Penn reels, ironically the only one that’s ever failed on me was the 8000 surfblaster but it was 9 years old so fair game as far as I’m concerned. The Spinfisher has to be the best all rounder, I own several and will replace the Surfblaster with one. Battles are nice but not sealed so it depends how wet you expect it to get

@@obanonthewater7796 thank you for such a good reply. I am clumsy so I expect everything to come into contact with salt water. The spin it is. I've had a Wrath for years too but it's on its last legs now. Time for it to retire.

With great difficulty! I carry the boat on my shoulder and engine separately. Transom mounted launch wheels and an outboard trolley is what I’d use on a set up any heavier than this

@@obanonthewater7796 it's coping with the surf. I've not tried it yet on a beach but onshore wind or anything like that puts me off. I use transom wheels but solo any sort of surf looks challenging

Great to see you back on the bass, with some excellent condition fish. Frustrating when something breaks when unexpected and end up using the lesser option, but hey! probably won't be the last time. Great fishing Oban, very enjoyable watch. Arthur.
