Shinee has been the masters of "weird ass songs that dont make sense" but making it a masterpiece. This really is right up their alley, they're just giving a mainstream 4th gen sound to it. I can't think of another group that could pull this off.

Maybe I'm wrong but I feel like SM groups are usually one of the few groups that consistently utilize most/all members in harmonizing or full-group singing. Like most Kpop rarely ever has EVERY member singing at once, but the SM groups do it a lot.

Through the years, shinee have gathered a lot of fans because they never go with the "safe choice". They often go 'against' the trends when it comes to concepts, they don't stick with a scheme and I love that they prefer experimenting with their style over sticking to a certain picture. You never know what to expect because they're over the part of "I have to promote this and it has to blow up" in their career; it's more of a "let's find out new facettes of ourselves in our work, we have fans who appreciate it." Being a shawol is always fun, even if you're not a shawol, you always enjoy shinee. They're like bertie botts beans yk? You never know what taste you get even if you pick a bean lol

as a casual listener i already enjoyed it but its amusing to see trained musicians get frozen and mind-fucked by the technical anomaly that is SHINee music

Seeing how everyone was SO EXCITED to hear SHINee’s comeback warmed my heart! But I cannot stress enough how much I ADORE RAFFI he truly has The Taste and The Jokes

Many people thought it sounded like other groups but if you really get to the nitty-gritty of it, you'll know it's SHINee. I love that Cloud pointed out that this song is weird and that it is SHINee because SHINee be really doing the most confusing thing but also somehow makes it work. @@jamesrawlins735 I feel the same way. When I first heard it I was downright angry and actually thought it sounded like Super M or even more generic. Watching the choreo demo tape helped -- I started to get into it through the performance aspect and how much artistry they brought to the dance and then got hooked. Still not a fave of mine. But proves once again SHINee can do no wrong.

The way everyone reacts to Onew's voice just really shows how unique his vocal timbre is. The other members all have "dry" timbres; even Jonghyun had a raspier tone, though he had the technical skill to make his voice sound warm. I can only think of a few other male K-pop idols who have that unique "wet", bell-like tone (e.g. Shownu of MX, Hyuk and Hakyeon of Vixx...).

Even classical and jazz musician from React to K knows that SHINee and f(x) are basically one package that can not ne separate.

coming here again 'cause SHINee's back with #SHINee_HARD - June 26, 2023!

The song reminded me of EXO's Obsession, but I couldn't say exactly why until I found out that Dem Jointz produced both tracks. Several of his trademarks are there, including the layered high note after a final pre-chorus buildup, a dramatic shift from a more synthesized sound in the verses and chorus to the use of more organic instruments in that final buildup, and a few other touches.

This song grows on you! At first I thought I wouldn't be hooked as much because it feels so grandieuse (like musical theatre) but it gets stuck in your brain, so addictive. Next thing I knew I was doing that choreo main point with the little kicks unconsciously 😳

Although I really, really love classical music (and jazz), I'm not a musician. I knew there was something about the song, something hidden maybe, but I couldn't tell what it was. When I watched the MV at first, it was shocking how SHINee was different and I was conflicted. That's where my focus was on. After listening to it again (and again), I realized how I've (surprisingly) loved everything about it, especially the piano part. That was awesome. I wanna thank these musicians for all the musical info. Now I know what was so unique about it. And I'm more amazed now. Wow.

Oh, and I loved that guy with the perfect pitch. The one who played the keyboard. I think there are a couple more here who are part of the perfect pitch gang? Maaan I wish I learned more about music in school.
