Bolt was a bare shell build from a poor shell that needed lots of welding, new inner and outer sills, floor pans, dash rail, inner wing, wheel arches, etc. The engine is a full race Swiftune 1380 cc with Webber 45 DCOE, Straight Cut Close Ratio Gearbox with Quaife ATB limited-slip differential boasting in excess of 139 BHP
The result is a very quick/fast track car capable of lapping Brands Hatch Indy circuit in sub 60 seconds

I had to watch this video again. Because I think this is one of the best Mini’s yet. The only thing I would change………. Is the driver, from you to me.

Great video, I've had the privilege of being a passenger in that car around castle combe (pre engine mods) and it was quick then, I hope to be able to go in the car again with the recent upgrades 👍

Lovely car. To be fair I really wanted to know, and see the adjustments made during the rolling road session....Ie seeing and noting each of the tweaks to the ignition timing map through each rpm increment, likewise for the fuelling.

You and me both, the filming was done by Mark and he's not really technical so wouldn't know what to include and the garage were very accommodating just letting Mark film let alone going into the detail. Maybe next time we do a rolling road session I can ask in advance if we can film some of the detail. Thanks for watching

Keith, Mark It must be more than 116 HP @ the wheels as you have 136.7 HP total that would mean your losing 20.7 HP through the gearbox and diff that can‘t be right ? My 1310cc is 113HP @ 5828 rpm & 112.06 @ 4983 rpm. I‘m sure i would not be able to keep up with Bolt on the track but who knows one day we may get a chance to have a track day together and try each others minis out. Cheers Dave

That works out at approximately 15% transmission loss. I thought that was pretty standard? I'm sure Paul Jeffries will know more

Straight cut is around 15-18% loss, so tallies. As Bolt is short ratio, it would be on the lower end of the scale. Bloody brilliant result 😎👍🏽

you cut out the original roof and made it out of carbon fiber . I wonder about rigidity. How does the mini shell keep its stifness?. Is it fully seamwelded?

@@classicminiworkshop it's incredibly important that the average lads know torque IS multiplied by the drive train by orders , crank /flywheel rpm vs gear ratio advantage will always expose the torque multiplication.. for instance a civic type R has a 60 in 2 ratio a 30x ! torque advantage , in first gear they have upwards of 3500ftlb.. a series 1 defender has 114ftlb at crank and +4000 at wheels . Trying to find at wheel data is suspiciously difficult , big industry want us to un learn leverage 😂...👍🏻
