Hi, Welcome to my KZread channel. I upload on a regular weekly basis Classic Mini related videos and workshops. I currently own three Classic Minis, a very rare 1997 Rover Mini Cooper Sport 5, Rover Mini Cooper MPI 1997, and a 1994 Rover Mini Sprite which I have modified extensively restored over the last 7 years including converting the engine to a 1.6 lite 8v C16SE from a Vauxhall Astra GLSi with a 5 speed gearbox.
I have owned Classic Minis for nearly 30 years and have picked up some great tips and learnt some valuable lessons along the way which I am more than happy to share with you. I am lucky enough to have owned several Mini Coopers and two ultra rare UK Spec ERA Turbo Minis.
I attend many Mini events throughout the year and am Vice Chairman of Brighton Mini Club. I enjoy helping others time permitting and have been involved in some very exciting Mini based project recently.
Please feel free to ask any questions

Really enjoying this build Keith, great work.
Hi keith/mark, i may be able to source some carb filter inlets if you cant get the original ones back.
Blimey the underneath looks as awesome as the rest of the car. Engine bay is a work of art and a lot of man hours.
Excellent progress Mark.. When I stopped restoring Mini's I sold off a load of spares like the carb elbows and two original twin carb filter boxes, plus half a dozen hydrolastic units, Original Mk lll heater, two reconditioned servos with brackets, callipers and disks etc, etc.. That servo hose does look a bit on the short side .. I can remember a number of times I wished I had an extra two inches. 😅..
Excellent, they should be really handy then..
I started mine up yesterday, first time in 7 years (where does the time go). Blimey I thought I had bad luck, I HATE new parts, I keep ordering them, and they’re wrong/different (size, quality, colour). At least we’re both nearly there. I’m never doing a nut and bolt restore again, I’ll just do restores where it’s nice, but not like new. Stay strong, nearly there 👍 (can that vacuum pipe go above the brake line?)
Why on earth do you still have it if unused for 7 years??

Great job mark I know the problems you have had over the weeks hopefully you have now sorted it great video Keith
Looking minty!
Hiya Mark-just looks brilliant. Twin SU carbs really make it! Look forward to hearing it firing up for the first time. Keep well.
Looks very nice indeed 👍 will you be getting the engine back soon ?
the heel board is a disaster even when its good..what clown thought this fabrication on the mini was a good piece of engineering and they have had fifty years to sort it out and havnt..dogs breakfast of a design
Hi Keith, coming along bundles now, keep up the good work, have you got somewhere I can private message you please mate, cheers Phil
Drop me an email Phil. [email protected]
wheels are amazing. would love a set of these. I think these were fitted to the 1989 Racing Green in the famous Autocar roadtest
Yes they were
Well done young man! I wonder how long it took to connect the manifolds? Mine are 1 1/4” on a 998 so, you may have more room but mine took me ages!!!!
Looking good Keith almost there great video
She looks great Keith. I had the same issue with my front grill, to get it in right position the grill was 5mm too high. It closed OK, so I didn’t grind it down.
So neat. Good work mate
To align the bonnet trim on the purple car remove the trim and put some spacers/washers in to get the alignment right. I've used rubber o-rings in the past as spacers.
Good tip!
Thanks for showing the rivnuts at the end, I've never used them before. I'll have to invest for my grille - it's terribly aligned and you've made me self conscious now.
No problem 👍
Re-use and recycling on a not-for-profit u-tube company. Bound to be a tax dodge there somewhere?
Hello Kieth, This Mini is a Masterpiece ! I've noticed the rearlights have a chrome rim, your indicator lenses on the front, doesn't have this. Of course it is personal taste, but there are lenses, with a chrome rim, might look beter, I think. Best of luck, with building this absolute gem !
Love your latest video, car looks stunning. You may have mentioned previously, but do you know what make and size the wheels are please? I have a 90 Cooper and would like the same! My mum bought a Racing Green in 1989 and I remember seeing them at the Rover dealers. Everyone used to stop us to ask about it. It was such an exciting time for the mini, the big comeback, people don't realise the impact it had then (including the conversion kit). People that knew them from the 60s were still around to talk about them, the white roof was back!
Theu are 12” Mistral Mod wheels. Very rare nowadays
@@classicminiworkshop thanks! That seems to be what John cooper garages used, especially before the Rover minilight was made. They fit the arches better than the rover ones.
Looks fantastic. May I suggest a longer hose for the pressure washer which saves you having to move the machine. Also a high speed blower to chase out water from nooks and crannies. When is the engine coming back?
I always put lock tite on rivnuts to prevent them spinning around in the future when the stainless screws have corroded the aluminium , that's a right pita. 😏
Looking really good now! Waiting for the racing green decals to go on. Any self tapping screws on my mini I replace with rivnuts now, even did the sun visors 😂
You do make things look easy 👏 what size rivnuts did you use? Cheers 👍
Top tip * i always spray rivnuts with cavity wax to guard against the dreaded rust. Also i spray the back of the grill with wax. Nice job looks great 👍
Just out of curiosity, will you rivnut the bonnet trim? You find the bonnets tend to rust around that area with the screws. I'm not sure if there's enough space for rivnuts though? Looks really nice with the rivnuts in. I've tried my grille on & it fits awful, hope I can get it fitting as good as yours 👍. Looks spot on the front 👌.
does the Racing Green have a strike plate for the bonnet safety catch hook? I like the way on my Japanese SPI mini there is a little plate that sits on the lip, so the hook hits that rather than the body. I guess PIIIOW would have it too?
No striker plate
@@classicminiworkshop Will that make you lose sleep now? 🤣
Bit sceptical that you are in a different dimension, seems always sunny lately in the vids, i know its summer but you wouldn't think so in sw london.
Think Ive been very lucky!
Hiya Keith-looks brilliant that grille. Changed Bruce's for a black one. Just need an engine to put under that bonnet now! Keep well.
Love the paintwork Keith. Complimented by the new grille.
Sorry but i have cheated on you Keith 😅
Again! You sl@g 🤣
@classicminiworkshop 😆 I'm cheating on you again on Tuesday. I'm with Matt from "Furious Driving" doing a garage barn find with my late Uncles F Reg White MG Maestro 2.0i with 9000miles on the clock!!! Been garaged since 1995. What were you doing in 95?
Really fantastic work Keith, love watching your work on a Sunday nights in bed as I get up at 2.00am many thanks joe
Hi Keith, what air cap is did you use on the devilbiss? Looking to invest in one with a TE110 cap. Thanks.
Mine has a TE20 air cap. I couldn't say which is the best one to use, I don't understand it enough.
Where did you get a few hours of sunshine from to dry your carpets? I am still waiting for some of this to clean and refurb my seats.
I got lucky for a few hours, i think that might have been summer gone now lol 😂
If John Cooper had P 111OWW as a demonstrator, I've driven it as I was considering doing a Sport 5 conversion on my SPi. Was a lot of fun!

Looking really nice, can i ask what sort of paint you used ? I will be respraying my TR7 once i've recommisoned our 1976 Mini 1000. Also, what DA did you buy ? Thanks 👍
Polyester base and 2k clearcoat. The DA was called Magnum i think, just a cheap 150mm DA off ebay
Great, thanks for the info, I'll start doing some research 👍 👍
Hi dear!!! Hope you are well. You already have 14.3k subscribers a huge number. Your video-making is very good. Your content ideas are excellent. But I am researching your channel and was shocked to see that your every video has lower audience engagement and reach also much lower. If you permit me, I will share some information to increase your channel. Then you get lots of subs, views, and a larger audience reach organically daily. Waiting for your valuable response, Thank you.
Looking good Keith light at the end of the tunnel great video
Wow Keith I didn’t realise how beautiful those wood cappings were! Gorgeous mate! 👍🇬🇧
