    I just ordered a CDV-715 for $75, and I'm pretty excited to try it out. I'm just a nerd who wants to see if I can find some everyday items with a little radiation in them because it's fun, so naturally I'm also interested in modifying it. I wonder if this will be applicable to my model

    You will not detect anything with the CDV-715 The reason those sell for less is because they are less useful. These were meant to be used to measure very high levels of radiation. There are plenty of good videos here on youtube talking about them.

    That did destroy the waterproofing. That connector on the top is a old style Microphone socket.

    Ya unfortunately. I'll probably just put a plug in it. I have since found a couple CDV-705 speakers!

    Under that cap to the left of the handle, there's a connector for a earpiece or loudspeaker, on the inside there's two wires, one to the chassis and one to a point on the circuit board, I'd imagine he's just spliced in a buzzer on those wires
