"Rose was fired from his jobs with CBS and PBS, where he hosted the interview show "Charlie Rose", following the publication of a Washington Post story in November 2017 in which eight women came forward to accuse him of sexual harassment and unwanted advances. The Post reported in May 2018 that Rose had been accused of harassment by an additional 27 women who worked with him over three decades" Your characterization of a self admitted creep, frankly is rather ignorant of his embarrassing and shameful exit from the public view as a prominent television media personality. A demise brought on by his own ignorance and unintelligent actions dating back decades. For him to enthusiastically go back and forth with Mr. Hitchens from a totally biased perspective defending and excusing one of the most morally bankrupt public figures that held the highest office of our country's history the way he did knowing how he himself acted is laughable.

Me too, however I think he pulled the cart to the middle of the road from wherever he started -- which is incredibly important, and could be labeled intelligent, since no one knows much truthfully about the way the entire world functions and just being able to see the other side and avoid extremes is basically all one can hope to do -- I'm afraid we'd see him pointing out Trump's strengths. Trump does have strengths. I can say that despite being more strongly opposed to him than I've ever been to anyone in my life. My point being it would be extremely sad if I found out that hitchens would do that, were he still around. On the topic of god, he was never wrong because that's a very black and white issue, and his eloquence and contribution is unmatched. Politically I'm afraid he might be the type to not see the forest for the trees, due to being so well traveled and experienced; he possibly might have thought it was more about giving the benefit of the doubt to the perceived underdog, or loser or however he might want to describe someone like trump, when Trump should really only be described as the biggest piece of garbage to ever walk on two feet. Genuinely just trying to get someone else's thoughts on what hitch might really say about the way things are now. Not being condescending at all. Like I said my whole thing is being open to the possibilty that I'm wrong, and the certainty that I don't know much honestly.

He defended poets and writers who mourned for the days of “the sun that never sets” with its concentration camps, famines and massacres. Hitchens’ rhetoric serves a “leftist” case to defend the Bush administration’s imperialist and genocidal venture in Iraq as a war of liberation. Hitchens was one of the lowest form of slime. The more one gets to know him, you find he was even worse than first suspected. He had to anaesthetise himself with extreme alcoholism.

Related to this interview, it is significant that Hitchens was so spot on in his analysis of the Clintons, Mother Theresa, etc., though I think he was flat wrong on Iraq. The sordid details described here are quite sad in themselves, as well as in the wake they caused...with some added flavoring by the questioner himself, Charlie Rose.
